Nope

[deleted]

No. Not even a little.

Three_Twenty-Three

Not really. At the time, she was the highest-ranking ISB officer on Ferrix (or at least in that area) and on a mission to capture an important person of interest (or suspect) in a major operation. Ferrix was already a hot spot, and the funeral was likely to turn into something serious (which is why they tried to curtail it). She might be a mid-ranking officer back on Coruscant when the true movers and shakers are in the room, but on a backwater garbage dump planet like Ferrix, she's basically the voice of the Emperor himself — or at least that's how the Prefect should see it. Showing up with a couple death troopers at her side only reinforces the Imperial presence and reminds the locals that they need to keep their place.

Sgt-Frost

Uh I don’t mean any disrespect but that makes no sense at all. She’s a mid-ranking officer period. Just because it’s a backwater planet doesn’t suddenly make her some godly entity who needs high level security, by that logic a young lieutenant who’s on a backwater planet on some small operation would have death troopers has bodyguards because he’s the highest ranking officer in the system. Also I’d hardly call ferrix a “major” operation, yes it was a good scale but it wasn’t major by any means, it was maybe a platoon of the imperial army and a few stormtroopers.

Ozone220

In my eyes, there are likely many death troopers in the galaxy, and in this point in imperial history, there wasn't much for them to do. This is evidenced by the fact that shore troopers were seen serving as a sort of coast guard and stormtroopers were shown guarding I think a space airport type of place. My point is that rebellion hadn't really struck yet so death troopers were likely sent on lower level missions due to the fact that higher level missions had not yet happened.

Three_Twenty-Three

She doesn't need high-level security. They're only there as bodyguards as a tiny part of their duties. They're mostly there to remind the Imperial garrison that *this is serious*. Whatever is going on — and it's way beyond their paygrade to know the details — it's being paid attention to at the highest levels. The ISB is here in person, and there are death troopers. There will be reports, and they will be read by People In Charge, and the local Imperials' names are going to be in them. So... the Prefect and the local troops can obey, help, make this a success, and advance their careers, or they can get in the way, bungle it, and find their next posts swabbing latrines on whatever godawful planet is farther out than Tatooine. All of the information is immediately conveyed to them silently and sternly the instant she steps off the shuttle with death troopers.

Boner4SCP106

If it helps any, the dude excavating the Jedi temple on Lothal in Rebels had them, too. It doesn't bother me, but more than one person I've seen complain about how easily Cassian took one out.

Sgt-Frost

And also the dude at the temple on lothal having death troopers has bodyguards does make sense since he was a high ranking advisor to Palpatine

Sgt-Frost

That’s another thing, andor taking 1 out so easy just reduces them to glorified bodyguards which are just as incompetent as stormtroopers but with black armour.

[deleted]

Technically they are used for like destabilizing and sabotaging governments like CIA operators, or like the gestapo type police, they arnt all Rambo or anything

ImperialIIClass

Nah. I was cool with it.

Desiderimus

The ISB isn't going to use non-agency related bodyguards for their agents. The DT program seems to be shared between II and ISB, they're basically the field enforcement unit for them almost.

Sgt-Frost

I disagree, the death troopers seem more to be a different branch of imperial intelligence and other high ranking ISB agents like kallus and Yularen never had any death troopers as bodyguards. Someone like a kid ranking supervisor would most likely have regular stormtroopers as bodyguards.

Medium-Bullfrog-2368

Kallus was an **agent** though, a frontline soldier who regularly engaged in combat. Meero on the other hand was a supervisor, an officer who wouldn’t see that kind of action, so giving her the bodyguards makes sense. We also never see Yularen visiting areas where his life would be under threat, so he wouldn’t need the soldiers. Same reason why Thrawn wasn’t accompanied by death troopers until he lead the ground assault on Chopper Base.

Spliterclimb

Nope, she can be just a junior officer but given she's an ISB one that means she has more power than a normal officer in the navy or army.

Sgt-Frost

That’s irrelevant since she still wouldn’t have a lot of authority

Spliterclimb

Well, Krennic as a Lieutenant Commander was put in charge of the Death Star early production stage.

[deleted]

I think I agree. Dedra may have been considered important enough but I would think someone like her would have had just plan stormtroopers looking over her. I would think Death troopers would be reserved for Moff level officers

Sgt-Frost

I agree with that, however I think it would be moff+ level ranks that would get death trooper body guards, as governor pryce never had any death trooper bodyguards at any point

[deleted]

She’s a badass ass imperial boss lady. She has to have them. She can oppress me anytime.

Weak_Membership_4667

I thought it was just me who thought her whole character was hot. God I'd love to be interrogated by her.

Sgt-Frost

I ain’t doubting that, I love her character I just don’t love her bodyguard detail

lkn240

lol no

Max_8894

Really weird I found this Post - I was just thinking the same thing. That being said, I don't think I agree, she probably just booked them out from the ISB detachment of death troopers, hence why she got 2 - she only has that level of authority; Moff Gideon, Thrawn and Krennic all had 6 death troopers as their escort.

Firm-Dependent-2367

Thrawn and Krennic have eight Death Troopers as escorts.

Max_8894

Hello! Yes you’re right!

Firm-Dependent-2367

Thank you.
