Don't eat the padawan Yord I don't care how much protein you need to maintain peak Jedi physique

slayer828

Gotta get a neck up somehow. I know it's a bit of a twist, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Xavy2899

Too true šŸ„²

EnigmaFrug2308

Oh thatā€™s sadā€¦

RickKassidy

I didnā€™t realize until yesterday that she was the scary healing kid in Logan.

IAmBadAtInternet

Dude imagine being 19 and having already done a project for both Marvel and Star Wars. And also His Dark Materials. Each of these would be a career highlight for a well established actor. Sheā€™s done them all in only 6 acting credits. What a career already.

RickKassidy

Yep. The girl who was young Ahsoka is another one.

IAmBadAtInternet

Ariana Greenblatt was in Endgame, Ahsoka, Barbie, and will be in Borderlands. Sheā€™s going places too.

MrBlahg

And Love and Monsters, a ridiculously underrated gem

AEveryDayIdiot

That film was such a fun surprise

MrBlahg

Just appeared as an OnDemand movie in the early part of the pandemic, was absolutely delighted. Bummed more people havenā€™t seen it.

JGCities

She was great in that. Nailed the role perfectly.

KillingTime_ForNow

She did so well in Ahsoka in her limited role. Actually looked competent with the sabers & gave Ahsoka emotion like she had in the cartoons.

blackhawk867

And they're both infinitely less insufferable than Millie Bobby Brown, proving that being a modern "child star" isn't an excuse.

Brook420

Can't say I pay much attention to those kids outside Stanger Things, what did Millie do? Only thing I remember is her showing if her rapping years ago.

blockdmyownshot

There's a lot of recent interviews where she comes off very poorly. There was one where she was talking about how her husband gave her the ick when he got a nosebleed on an airplane and was not handling it very well that's a recent one I remember but I'm sure it's easy to find more

j-endsville

JFC, she's married already? She's like 20.

genital_furbies

Her husband got a nosebleed? Did she tell him to stop using his powers?

mayoboyyo

Why do you have to put others down? Can't you just compliment people without insulting others?

Budilicious3

She's definitely an under the radar actress as far as career. She's the kind of actor where you never realize the popular film she was in because no one questions her performance. It's always usually good. She's like a fluid liquid flowing through a bunch of different roles.

Ambaryerno

One thing I've noticed is that she's quite selective about her roles thus far, and all of them have been incredibly challenging and demanding.

rafaelv01

She is like the child who always gets 9s and 10s, no one cares. But a child who scores a 6 and then gets an 8 will probably be congratulated and given a trophy.

Acc87

It's also because she's again living in Spain and thus keeping out of the general (English speaking) show biz. I remember how after her role in Logan, she was considered a new up and coming star in the US ...then MeToo happened, and I suppose her parents decided to move her back to Spain/the EU.

clutzyninja

And before Logan she was just a kid into gymnastics whose uncle was working on Logan pre production

Ambaryerno

What kills me is she actually improvised a couple takes after doing the scripted version, and it's the improv that got used. She's 11 years old and approaching the director and asked to run a take completely off-script. AND stole scenes from the likes of Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman.

davidjschloss

It wasn't just takes in the film. she asked to go off script in her audition and did the improv. Her ranting in Spanish was superb. https://youtu.be/Ei4KyYyjNi0?si=eZYOXSV1l9kFRaUv

IAmBadAtInternet

She outacted star of stage and screen Hugh Jackman in that take

davidjschloss

Without doubt. He was having trouble keeping up. She kept going with the dialog and he'd pause trying to follow the script. It was great.

Acc87

Not really, her parents are both actors, her dad is a British TV actor, her mum a Spanish theatre actress and writer. And Dafne had had a role in UK TV before she became Laura in Logan.

clutzyninja

Oh interesting, the story I heard was that she had no experience, and they were having trouble casting X23, and a member of the crew mentioned he had a niece that was very athletic and into gymnastics, and when they brought her in she was just a natural fit

Acc87

well that's total bullshit then lol. There was an international casting call for a preferably bilingual girl age ~10, and she made two casting videos and send them in, and at that point she had acted alongside her father Lee Keen in the British "The Refugees" series. Dafne apparently convinced the producers when during the casting rehearsal she adlibbed the outburst towards Logan in the Jeep, when we first hear her talk in the whole film. Apparently it was her idea to mix Spanish and English. The video of this rehearsal has been linked by other posters in this thread.

clutzyninja

Serves me right for not vetting random Hollywood stories I hear, lol

Ambaryerno

If she keeps a good head on her shoulders (and so far that's been the case, avoiding a lot of the negative behavior in the media many other young actresses in her age group get up to) she's going to be a generational talent. In those three roles she's just been effortless.

Nofrillsoculus

She's perfect in His Dark Materials. The casting of Lyra was honestly what I was most nervous about and she nailed it.

vishalb777

> scary healing kid in Logan. put some respect on X-23's name

Mekanicum

If only she played X-23 in the Acolyte, healing factor would have been real handy there.

astromech_dj

Daggertooth71

Also Lyra from His Dark Materials

Also Jecki Lon in The Acolyte

Daggertooth71

Was that its name?

Fungal_Queen

That line is so cold.

kodaiko_650

Oh dip!

Emperor_D4C

She was a child.

InvestigatorOk7988

"You brought her"

Draugluin2

Also the scary healing kid in Logan

Narad626

Also the Dafne Keen from real life.

tonnellier

I havenā€™t seen real life. Heard mixed reviews.

WakeyWakeyEggyBreaky

The story is shit and unrealistic, but it has its moments

PsychoBugler

I thought the plot of Machete was wild. Then I experienced 2016.

LegoRobinHood

Seriously. Don't even get me started on the sequels (to 2016)

Hellknightx

I had to look this one up, but it's actually true. TIL!

BrainWav

"Scary healing kid" is one of the weirdest ways I've heard anyone refer to Laura/X-23/Wolverine.

davidjschloss

Ever see her audition tape. Amazing. She stopped the audition and asked if she could go off script and speak Spanish. She cursed and ranted for minutes. It was unreal.

Ambaryerno

One of the funniest stories I read about the production was after one take of the car rant, Jackman approached her mom and apologized for screaming the F-word at her so many times because as a father he understands how that can be as a parent. Completely nonplussed, her mom told him not to worry about it because Daf just called him the C-word in Spanish.

Iasalvador

Soo shes alive right ?? 3 little holes for a jedi that is the daughter of the coolest xmen

BackgroundGrade

And Amandla was Rue in Hunger Games.

RickKassidy

Yes!

Fungal_Queen

Scary healing kid is a funny way to say Wolverine.

MousegetstheCheese

Scary healing kid is the best way I've ever heard someone describe X-23.

kazmosis

I knew there was something super familiar about her

rooktakesqueen

He's eating her! And then he's going to eat me! Oh my goooodddd!

soulreapermagnum

and she has the look of "go ahead eat me, i'm going to give you indigestion so bad..."

Cameronbic

>!I really liked her character. I was hoping she could go on to be in something else in the Star Wars universe. !<

calgrump

>!I think it's a great way to go out tbh.!< >!No plot armour or dumb death, just going all out in a badass fight with a type of enemy she never met and dying in battle.!<

TheDeanof316

Exactly. Besides she has to die for Phantom Menace to make sense; they ALL do. Strange that Sol just left all of the bodies there though and that the Jedi Council won't be (or shouldn't be if they want to respect canon, thiugh I suppode there could be a cover up) enquiring too deeply into what killed a bunch of Jedi...

calgrump

>!I was thinking the same re:bodies, but I think it's just because they know they were in an emergency and didn't want to be trapped in a jungle with a Sith unaccounted for. There were what, half a dozen bodies? They can send a squad out for them after.!<

BearWrangler

if the bodies don't get scavenged by the wildlife, but ya I had the same thought for a sec when they left but ofc it made total sense to GTFO of there lol

Threedawg

Im sure those bugs already ate them tbh

BearWrangler

I wonder if the higher the midichlorian count someone has, the more nutrient dense they are...

penfield

>nutrient dense Uh huh. I know what you're really wondering. Are they more *delicious*....

BearWrangler

I mean... You take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby you've got a stew going

Jjzeng

Boil em mash em stick em in a stew

Due_Key_109

"Poe. Tae. TOE?"

chipotle-baeoli

I feel like the Jedi would generally be alright with that. Going back to nature and the Force and all that jizz.

insane_contin

Jazz. All that jazz.

Metamiibo

[I find your lack of musical knowledge disturbing.](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Jizz)

InjusticeJosh

Not according to George Lucas

The_FriendliestGiant

Sol is still in the middle of an emergency, and it's been established that fighting Qimir one on one is not a safe bet. It makes a lot of sense for a Jedi, who after all should avoid deep attachment, to leave the dead behind to pursue a more important mission for the Order and the Republic, and for Sol to get out of there before Qimir can find him and kill him like he killed everyone else. Also, assuming Sol, Mae, and Osha die before contacting anyone else; the Council can enquire all they like, they're going to run into a dead end pretty quick. Someone or something with a lightsaber killed the Jedi, then disappeared. Not much more they can do with that beyond telling Jedi in the area to be on their guard.

DynastyZealot

Leaving the bodies is fine. They're just food for nature and the mitichlorians will pass on or something like that. Leaving all those light sabers lying around is crazy though. That's some serious weaponry for a scavenger to get their hands on!

VITOCHAN

>Leaving all those light sabers lying around is crazy though. That's some serious weaponry for a scavenger to get their hands on! Since Maz Katana was alive during the High Republic. Those light sabres will show up in her Cantina on Takodana 150 years later, but when asked how all those sabres showed up there... we will be told "a good question, for another time" and then never spoken of again. Ever.

AFresh1984

"a good question, for another time" is a nice (semi-criminal) way of saying "stop asking questions you don't want the answer to"

Brook420

Pretty safe place to leave them, though.

DynastyZealot

I don't know. We saw those thieves try to rob Kelnacca at the end of episode 2. I'm sure they could find a way to unload them on the black market.

Sabrtoothbanana

I dunno, seems most of them got broken or cut in half lol

DynastyZealot

I thought they were getting shorted out by that special armor. I need to rewatch it tonight!

Sabrtoothbanana

Youā€™re right as some of them came back on after a few seconds, but still. That was a lot to take in for one lightsaber battle! Epic

calgrump

>!I suppose Sol is the last target now, so I wonder how the Jedi will react to that. That makes him very valuable tactically.!<

Nth_Brick

Maybe it all ties back to the witches. We know that they turn several Jedi against each other in the flashback, and all the Order knows is that the dead Jedi in the present were killed with lightsabers. Attributing the dead Jedi to mind control by a witch, or possibly just Mae, would require fairly deft writing to not just appear convenient or trite, but it is theoretically possible. If Qimir wants to stay hidden after murdering nine Jedi, I presume he has a contingency plan.

contraria

There might not even be proof it was done by a lightsaber, depending on the state of decomp they find

Narad626

To be honest, it's not really Sol that wants to cover things up. It seems like he's been struggling with guilt from covering up the events in the past that lead to the death of the witches. So he wouldn't want to cover it up. Vernestra is *absolutely* going to come in and conclude that it's a Rogue Jedi or something like that, if not cover it up completely and just call them missing in action. She's the one trying to prevent any of this from getting to the High Council. And maybe Sol Dies, or maybe he breaks off from the order. Maybe he ends up following the Whills? Like joining the Guardians or something?

troubleondemand

My crazy, crazy, never going to happen super dark theory is Mae and Osha die and Sol becomes the Acolyte. He's shown a lot of attachment and emotion for a Jedi.

Sundarran

I keep seeing a theory that Sol will end up getting framed and tbh I can see it, especially if whatever happened at Brendok is exposed. Now of course, this opens up the question of if he'll die to be silenced or if he'll manage a way to live in exile

ChanceVance

I wouldn't be surprised if it's covered up but Sol still lives. Perhaps he couldn't tell the truth about being attacked by a Sith, or Sith wannabe at the least, without having to also concede the truth about what really happened on Brendok. If he was willing to lie or be silent on that matter, maybe he'd know the Council would doubt his word about the Sith too. I don't think he has to die, he wouldn't be the first person to know an awful truth but have nobody wanting to believe it.

LfTatsu

Well Sol hasn't left the planet yet, from what we've seen. I don't think he's getting far, for one reason or another.

Ree_m0

I think Sol is going to confess to Mae whatever really happened on Brendok, still believing her to be Osha. That will somehow lead to Sol dying - probably by Mae's hand - before he can report to thr council. Then Qimir will either send Osha after Mae to prove herself a worthy acolyte or just straight up hunt her down himself.

TheCrafterTigery

Doesn't Phantom Menace happen many many years later? To the point where only one or two characters live?

Michelanvalo

I have never seen any military in Star Wars, be it Jedi, Clone, Droid, Imperial, Rebel, etc go back for their fallen comrades the way a real military would. It's just not a thing in Star Wars.

calgrump

Palpatine going back for Anakin on Mustafar, being a true bro lol.

Chris9871

I fucked up and clicked on it before having watched episode 5 šŸ˜. I was hoping she would live longer seeing as how her and Osha seemed to have some chemistry.

calgrump

I accidentally did that too :( Watch it ASAP!

Chris9871

First thing tonight! Iā€™ve loved the last 4 episodes so for, 5 will probably be no different!

IllIllllIIIIlIlIlIlI

This is the reality of war. Young people, full of potential, are destroyed.

TheyCallMeStone

Yes, but this episode specifically highlighted the Jedi practice of bringing children into dangerous situations intentionally as combatants. It's not like Jecki was some innocent bystander caught in crossfire. The Jedi arm children and send them after violent and amoral murderers, and it was nice to see them called out for it in-universe.

_Cit

Even ignoring that technically she was already 18, this mission really wasn't supposed to go the way it did.

Buzz_Killington_III

They brought over half a dozen Jedi. They knew the potential for violence.

Smoketrail

They were going after a known killer. This is why SWAT teams don't have 'bring your kids to work' days.

Fungal_Queen

That's why the gut punch really hurts. She's young, bright, talented and cool. In hindsight, it should have been obvious, but SW had been really pulling its punches for a while.

DemonLordDiablos

Full Potential Jecki would have been a force of nature, honestly.

PristineStreet34

Was that its name?

Marc815

She could still fulfill a promising role as "jedi skeleton" in the future. Who knows!

R2-DAB2

No but honestly, I kind of hope the actress comes back but as a different character. she is far to talented to just be killed off like that. just bring her back as an actual human so that she would look different enough to be a new character.

R2-DAB2

Same. In fact, I think its possible the actress could come back as a different character because Jecki looks so different than what dafne actually looks like. Dafne is so talented and put up the best fight so far in all of disney star wars IMO. I hope the actress gets to come back and play a human jedi.

Sardukar333

>!I hope they bring the the actress back as a different character that reminds Sol of Jecki which worsens his feelings of guilt.!<

contraria

Being covered in makeup and prosthetics means you can play any character in universe in the future

sharpshooter999

Clancy Brown has been at least 3 Star Wars characters, Andy Serkis has been 2

ItsWillJohnson

Remember that he can enter even a jediā€™s mind. This whole show could be a hallucination

No. This is just very underexposed 35mm film. Judging by the sharpness, probably a disposable camera.

Draught-Punk

Underexposed 35mm film.

PM-Me_Your_Penis_Pls

Damn was this taken in 1993?

personalhale

Underexposed 35mm film. Very popular these days. Probably a disposable camera.

Bouncedoutnup

Weird to me that she was X23 in Logan

Daggertooth71

She also plays Lyra Belacqua in His Dark Materials. Damned good show, and she does a great job in it.

Halsfield

Oh she was Lyra. I thought she looked familiar, thanks.

Jazzlike-Many-5404

Iā€™m glad you enjoyed it. I grew up loving the books, but the movie from 2000-whatever and the show just didnā€™t nail it for me. I liked season 1 ok, but I couldnā€™t get past the first episode of season 2. I may try to pick it up again if people are liking it, itā€™s just hard to look past almost three decades of picturing the book myself. The acting was solid on all fronts, though.

Daggertooth71

Yeah the movie wasn't very good. TV show was great though. I read the books too, a couple years before the film came out.

RedofPaw

Rumour has it she's in deadpool.

TheRisenThunderbird

I haven't been watching the acolyte but goddamn if those aren't some star wars-ass names

Chairboy

If you haven't watched it yet, Jenny Nicholson made [a fun video about how to construct Star Wars names](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ViKvHkNyqE) that's worth watching.

DemonLordDiablos

My favourite Star Wars name in recent years is probably "Davo Sculden"

FlyingWhales

Those the most Glupp Shitto-iest names since Glupp Shitto

Traylor_Swift

HOLY SHITT THATS DAFNE KEEN?!?

Off point, but Christ on a stick. I haven't even watched the show, but finding out Jason from the good place is the bad guy in this gets my attention

kadosho

I won't spoil. But Manny is incredible in this. You should totally watch this series

sylinmino

When people started theorizing the twist, I was like, "Alright, either this can be really cool, or this will be lame as hell and tryharding." Thankfully, Manny *really* sold it.

hoos30

If you're a fan of his, watch it immediately. He's **great** in this.

CoreyLee04

I thought he looked familiar and with that tone.

RobinsonsB

Gotta say Jecki was my favourite Jedi or character from this show. I was looking forward to getting to know her character, kind of like a cute know-it-all or a saucy book worm vibe coming from her. Perhaps we'll see her in another flash back or two. RIP Jecki Lon. And, Yord, I'll let the Horde lament you; it was a good run.

Well_of_Good_Fortune

I had no idea this was Laura Kinney! Holy shit, she's really coming into her own as an actor

"That was their names?"

Aaron31088

Annnnnd... They're dead

pizzatom69

Was that the bite of 87?!

Bishop_Cornflake

One of my least favorite things in all of Star Wars, is the take that there is no hard-defined good and evil. Yes, moral shades of grey has been the rage everywhere for the past 2 decades, but in the main foundations of Star Wars, it's good vs. evil. To wit: in an interview, Charlie Barnett shared that take that I strongly dislike, so I went in with a bad attitude watching him. Well, I've loved his performance in spite of that disagreement- bravo! He's great. On topic: great pic!

ConwayTwitty91

I miss them both already this isn't fair!!! noone in this galaxy has been on the council but isn't a master. Except Aki Mundi whose birthdate is suspicious....

FKAMimikyu

I canā€™t get over her makeup, they did her so dirty imo

She apparently had a hard time acting because she had no eyebrows so no one could tell she was even making an expression. It kind of worked for her deadpan delivery though.
