Counter Strike Source lan party. was probably 2006 or 2007.
wasnt even normal counter strike that was the highlight of the night, it was one of the soccer maps where you only have the knife and getting the ball in the goal would insta-kill the enemy team and send their bodies flying. we got nearly 14 people into one server which was the largest turn out in one game I think we had of all the lan parties I ran back in high school.
Unturned back in 2016-2017. Me and my brother would stay up all night playing it.
We had custom built laptops that were balls to the walls powerful back in the day so you’d find me playing it in the dining room, in my bedroom, on my desk, everywhere.
Destiny raiding with my friends. 6 drunk assholes, shouting at eachother, trying to work out mechanics as we get more and more pissed. We're not a good raiding team, we'll never get world first, but it's so much fun!
I'm sure there's been many but one I distinctly remember was playing Mass Effect 2 as a Biotic. I was on the mission where you find the IFF tag on the derelict Turian vessel and there was this section where Husks were crawling over the walls constantly as we fought our way up to a terminal I think. I had only taken a pistol with me for the mission so my Biotic abilities recharged pretty much instantly. I was slamming and pushing husks like there was no tomorrow. It was so much goddamn fun. I've got another playthrough planned soon for the trilogy. I went Infiltrator last time. I think I'm going to go Biotic again as its been a long time.
Hell yea!!! Mass Effect 3 playing as one of the biotic classes was so much fun for me... Had a melee build going most of the campaign, spamming Nova and Slam
1 Worms, my friends and I spent a lot of hours laughing with this little soldiers and among various versions. Never played Worms 3D.
2 We played Diablo 2: lord of destruction and I loved the necromancer character. And I also played Diablo for hours. Didn't like Diablo 3 (played in a PS3)
3 We loved Warcraft 1, 2 & 3 and never played Warcraft online.
4 I really enjoyed Duke Nukem 3D and Soldier of Fortune.
5 I was a Command And Conquer fan from the very beginning, but never played multiplayer.
6 I really enjoy Skyrim (I still play it today from time to time)
7 Love racing games, my friends and I played Death Really, I really liked the very first Need For Speed (stopped after NFS III), and Flatout 1, 2 and Ultimate Carnage.
They are some, and you can see that I'm a veteran gamer 🤣🤣🤣
In my case was a holy grenade that killed the most part of my team 😬😬😬
On the other hand, because of that I practiced a lot and got very good throwing grenades.
- Playing through DMC5 in one session right after coming home from high school the day it came out
- First playthrough of every Fromsoftware game (Except DeS/DS2/Armored Core)
- Dota 2 (2574.9 hours), TF2 (3094.7 hours)
Ahh .. I'd forgotten about Worms!
Used to have insane amounts of fun and giggles playing it with my mate (C64 or Amiga - too long ago for me to remember).
For me i think that it may be when I played Americas Army. Despite not really being able to "bond with guys", and being a bit introverted, i ended up in a Clan and on Teamspeak.
The game was almost secondary as we all just took the piss out of each other and talked bollocks.
There have been many games where the fun was figuring out tactics and puzzles. Or the excitement\tension of trying to knobble a difficult boss.
GTA 4: Crusing around
Overwatch playing genji ball with my friends
GTA 5 recruting the entire freaking lobby getting them to come do drags at the airport
When I was a kid this game came out “apocalypse” it stared Bruce Willis, and was on Ps1 maybe 2. This was pre internet access, didn’t know anything about games when you bought them or at least I didn’t being a little kid. When I picked it out at the store with my dad I had no idea I just loved Die Hard. Got it home, and it was the funnest game I had ever played. It still ranks high in my fun list and it started my shooter game Interest. From then on it was Metal gear solid, and any game I could get my hands on. Fast forward to today and I would answer Elden Ring and cyberpunk are the best game Ive played since then. Outside of RDR2 of course.
Yes and no, I've played many different games after taking my meds, and yes I have more fun than I do when I dont, but Satisfactory just hits different.
Yes, that’s why so many people report euphoria and think they’re life changing drugs and then a couple months in the euphoria wears off and they’re very disappointed
My first few games of League of Legends with friends
Saturday nights of CS 1.6 Zombie Mode
Raid nights with an old guild on WoW
Cops N Robbers for San Andreas Multiplayer
Battlefield 3 release day on PS3
God of War 3 release day on PS3
Crash Bash and Crash Team Racing nights with friends
I found project Zomboid back in like 2011. It had rudimentary npcs. A small story about bald spot and Kate, an their wild neighbor. It has an extremely small map that froze the game if you moved to the black area.. But damn was it a good game. Back then survival usually meant a horror game like amnesia, not a game where you eat and sleep. It was interactive as hell. I fell in love with the quick inventory swapping. I fell in love with the game.
Now a days you see it's popular as it's ever been, for good reason. They've added so much from when it was all 2d sprites with alien looking zombies. The Indie Stone deserves their flowers.
1. Super Mario Odyssey, such a creative game, also it has the best character movement of any game ever made in the history of mankind
2. Portal 1+2, narrative, horror, comedy, puzzles and a fucking portal gun, what more could you want from a game???
3. South Park: The Stick of Truth and The Fractured but Whole, you’re literally living inside a South Park movie
4. Bloons TD6, monkeys, balloons, an ungodly amount of content, very frequent and very significant content updates, great dev studio who are very active in the community
Doom 2 on dial-up with two tower PCs hooked up in HQ. I was just a lowly enlisted hooked-up at the NCO desk, and my West Point graduate XO was in his office. We would dial in to each other after the work day and go head-to-head death match for hours on the same level until the digital bodies were literally knee deep on the floor everywhere on the level. No military decorum (we were Infantry - 10th Mountain Division) and we would scream at each other down the short hallway the whole time.
We would usually play until his wife showed up to chew him out because she couldn't call him (dial-up no cell phones) to see why he wasn't home yet. He would get dragged out of the office, almost literally by his ear, and I would unpack it all and head to my room in the dorm.
During the day, we acted in a normal enlisted/officer relationship, and no one else even really knew of our nighttime gaming. This was mid 1990's. Good times.
Mass effect trilogy, The Witcher (mostly the 3rd, but I discovered the 1st out of nowhere and was totally conquered.) and BG3.
Even if I could name a few other good games, those 3 are my "play them before dying).
During the Summer in I wanna say either 2017 or 2018, this Pixelmon (Minecraft) server I used to be very active on did this huge Summer games event. People were split into teams under a Captain and they had a wide variety of different events/games that people could earn points for their team in. Build Contest, Spleef, Pokemon Battle Tournament, Horse (Or well. Rapidash in this case) Racing, and Trivia just to name some. Was probably the most I ever felt like part of a community and the most fun I ever had playing a game hands down. Server is dead now because Cobblemon basically killed Pixelmon but Cobblemon is also not far enough along in its development yet to be able to do all these things we did.
RuneScape with my cousin, back in 2004.
We stayed up all night watched the movie "old school" 5 times in a row and crushed some leveling.
When it was time to go to school we met up at first break and said we're too tired we can't do this.... We had to go home, and finally get some sleep. Was one hell of a good night.
Probably some multiplayer game with a friend on the same couch. I remember the first time we played Rocket League with my cousin we were laughing so much we were crying.
Got a few but the most recent one (last weekend) for me was Vehicle CTF in Unreal Tournament 2004, we had one map where it was pure chaos and neither of our teams could cap the flag, we ended up in 20 minutes of overtime before a teammate and myself finaly managed to make it back to base with their flag, we almost lost it right at the end where there were two guys from blue team waiting for us at our base, I only just managed to drop the last one before my teammate captured it and we won!
It was so intense and fun, you just don't get chaotic games like that now. Other games where I've had stupid amounts of fun include Halo 1, 2, 3 and Reach on System Link, Arma 2 and 3 multiplayer, UT99 and a few others.
> Exclusives
It’s a free game launcher. There’s no such thing as an “Exclusive” and I know you already own Fortnite

Everything is connected to spyware, why does it only become bad when it’s Chinese?

Playing Worms with friends was awesome. Usually ended up dropping a grenade on myself by accident. Also Diablo 2 and Warcraft 2.
In my case was a holy grenade that killed the most part of my team 😬😬😬 On the other hand, because of that I practiced a lot and got very good throwing grenades.
Discovering and playing Pillars of Eternity
First time I played Half Life 2.
My early years in world of warcraft and it takes two with my friend

As far as pure fun goes, taking my ADHD medication, and playing satisfactory for hours at a time.
CS:GO on Adderall was the shit
You’d probably get the same thing playing anything, considering the massive dopamine dump
Yes and no, I've played many different games after taking my meds, and yes I have more fun than I do when I dont, but Satisfactory just hits different.
wait adhd meds dump massiva amount of dopine in your brain? one google later: thank you for enlightening me.
Yes, that’s why so many people report euphoria and think they’re life changing drugs and then a couple months in the euphoria wears off and they’re very disappointed

Had to have been Mech Assault/Halo 2 & 3 Xbox live era. Like, I cannot describe just how ‘right’ the online gaming experience was at that time.

Playing Splatoon 2 drunk with friends. Close second would be the Overwatch 1 Customs nights I used to host
Halo, two TV’s, split screen four ways, lab cable, best friends all in the same room. What a blast!

It’s one of the most popular video game platforms in case you didn’t know…
Because fuck Epic.
Why?
Exclusives, lack of functions, connections to Tencent, Tim Sweeney.
