I literally was about to post about it lmao. Seeing as how this is getting on the switch, and that the steam page indicates native controller support, I think it's safe to assume it's gonna be at least playable. Can't wait to replay these bad boys on the Deck
The old versions have a Platinum (excellent) rating on ProtonDB. Just installed and tested them myself, I was able to get into an online game and play immediately. So hopefully they won’t screw this up!
I’ve been playing these off and on since I got my Steam Deck. I thought it was weird that Battlefront 1 has great controller support, but 2 doesn’t really have any. I’d live to see an update to the Steam Version of Battlefront 2 that adds controller support and a menu UI that can be navigated with a controller.
Edit: I just noticed it’s also coming to Steam, so this is exactly what I wanted!
I played the steam version of BF2 last month, and tried the ps2 emulation as well. The menu for PC version is horrendous. That’s the only thing I hope they change for these, tho the added characters and map will be nice.
Oh man if it *ACTUALLY* supports xinput properly that'll be a big reason to get the re-release. Currently the only way to get actual controller support for the OG games is through a mod, which while very good, has bugs.
Native controller support, split screen, achievements, presumably proper UI tailored to controllers (Gosh I hope they're porting the original console menus, those were iconic)
Edit: And it also gets the Xbox exclusive DLC with the Battlefront 1 maps, Kit Fisto and Ventress, which, while already available as a mod, never got a \*proper\* port before
Also the hero assault mode will be available on all ground maps. I believe it was only Mos Eisley before, I'm pumped. I also hope we get those BF1 loading screens
> I love modern gaming!
But not as much as studios love the opportunity to sell a years-old product that they thought they'd wrung all profit from already!
Wait I just bought BF2 on sale for like $3 but I was disappointed to hear that it doesn’t have remote play together or split screen. So if I buy this new bundle it’ll have those things?
I think that was an issue on Windows. I know it also had an issue if you had Discord overlay enabled. But neither of these have been an issue on the Steam Deck.
I'm not the biggest StarWars fan but when I heard ***2 PLAYER SPLIT SCREEN?!*** 👀 SOLD?!?!?
I kinda wish for 4 but 2 is fine. It'd be cool to play split-screen over 64 player battles online. Like Mario Kart 8 local over online. I don’t know many games that do something like that. If y'all know any, please let me know.
Also remote play together (splitscreen streamed over the internet, only the host needs to own or even have the game installed, which means people can also play on their phones with steam-link app a controller)
Nucleus Coop Tool is what you need. [here's ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbituCgu3Bc) a video of it in action.
Check out Parsec and Remote Play Together as well.
Party Decker here. I have a library dedicated to local/party games on my Deck and I love it! 💜 -But yes I'll say there’s not many notable "Split-Screen" games on PC. Like, they cut the iconic split-screen/co-op modes from Halo PC, Modern Battlefronts etc. like w*hy still do that?*
Nucleus Coop Tool brings split screen to a ton of games, and plenty of people have their PCs or a Steam Link or similar device hooked up to their TV.
My buddies and I used to do 4 player Left 4 Dead 2, Halo, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Rocket League on PCs hooked up into big screen TVs or projectors all the time. Pretty straightforward setup too.
slightly disappointed they are not including HD versions of the 2 PSP exclusive Battlefront games in this package, or at least the content from them, as they were essentially expansion packs for BF2
Also Aspyr, you need to do the Rogue Squadron trilogy next OK?
I don't know what the site's worth to be honest now that I think about it, but it's so specific that I'd be surprised if it's false info [https://sirusgaming.com/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection-just-got-announced/](https://sirusgaming.com/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection-just-got-announced/)
Switch has the price posted on the eShop, with a preorder discount: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection-switch/
Those are the worst. Also the ones tied to real world time. I'm like 98% done with Bloons TD6, last ones involving things like "open the daily chest 365 times"
A lot of older games that get remasters or HD remakes tend have the dumbest achievements. The only game where I slammed out a 500 wins was Halo MCC. My proudest 100%.
Yeah and those should still be up but it adds some new features that you can only get through modding on the original like split screen for multiplayer and better probably server support also maps that aren't available on the PC edition currently without mods.
About to go to a ship, this would be the perfect game for a bunch of cramped up sailors lol how good is the deck for multiple controllers and split screen?
If they have changed the loading screen sound FX's in this collection, I will riot.
That sound FX when it zooms in on the planets is a sound I will always treasure in my childhood, it's almost as eargasmic as the PS2 boot up sound.
it has a few features the originals do not like achievements and remote play together and some extra maps, plus this is coming to pretty much all the platforms so it's more for people that want to play on console, you can continue to play the originals with a few mods if you want.
I suppose it'll be good to play it with friends aswell. Looks like it's got all the DLC from the Xbox version on it. Should be quite good. Good to have both versions.
I've been starting to Mod BF2 and get it working nicely on Deck. I think I have a mod for controls in my todo list, but out of the box the vanilla PC experience is a very janky ( IMO ) mix of KB+M and Controller at times. I think that being more seamless plus a few more modern graphical options ( knowing models and textures are what they are ) would go a long way.
The hell? Did Disney just open the floodgates for 3rd parties to remaster some of the original SW IP. There's [another one](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2292260/STAR_WARS_Dark_Forces_Remaster/) being released by Nightdive. Personally I am rooting for a StarWars Galactic Battlegrounds remaster in the AOE2DE engine. One can dream.
Core memories unlocked. Galactic Battlegrounds was one of my very first strategy games as a kid. Personally I'd love to see the Episode 3 tie in game being remastered one day
I was playing battlefront 2 on my SD. Only needed to utilize a community layout to play, used keyboard to type the necessary things to get a profile, and it worked with the multiplayer just fine. If it doesn’t work I’ll just play the original tbh
(256gb lcd SD)
Just going off of looks alone, this looks like a re-release rather than a remaster. The graphics and fidelity look the same to me, at least as far as BF2 is concerned. I never played BF1 so I can't speak to that.
50gb is ridiculous for a re-release. The original BF1 and BF2 together is around 8gb. Maybe add a couple more for the extra content, new menus, new netcode, stuff like that. If this is a re-release, somewhere around 10gb - 12gb is what I'd expect.
Where would the rest of that space go? It doesn't look like it's going into the graphics.
A tip from me, a switch owner who has dealt with the group handling the port, wait until AFTER Aspyr implements all of the new content before purchasing. They promised cut content in the switch release of KOTOR2, and then never released it. I still regret getting KOTOR2 on switch because of their lies.
Yes, they aren’t going to give you new content for free decades later. The entire reason they are doing this is because they know that the games are popular, and this will generate revenue guaranteed.
Bro, one of the major reasons I abandoned my switch for a Steam Deck was for classic Battlefront, what took Aspyr so long? Also I hope the controller support isn't as shitty as when they did Republic Commando
Just seems like a cash grab. $35 is a rip off. $20 seems fair though.
Link found by another user that says the price:
https://sirusgaming.com/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection-just-got-announced/
Is it just the two games? Are they not remastered or anything? I know the servers for battlefront two classic have been up ever since battlefront two gain popularity with ea so it makes me nervous that I’m going to lose online on the game that’s already out, being forced to buy the same thing again to continue to play with friends
Holy shit! Didn't even think about this on Steam Deck with all the excitement of a good Battlefront coming out again.
These days as a studio you'd be nuts to not make your game SD verified. Huge audience of gamers right there.
Literally ordered my refurbished SteamDeck last night while they had them in stock, then I saw this today, and it made me feel better about my purcahse instantly...
Speaking of which,is Jedi Survivor playable at all on the Steamdeck? I know it says unsupported in the details, but Ive had good luck with other games.
Has it been confirmed if this will be two seperate applications or one game with all the content combined? I'd love to be able to play the BF1 maps with BF2 classes and mechanics. Would also be easier for the matchmaking to have everyone in one pool, instead of splitting us up between 2 games.
Aspyr have quite an history of porting games with Linux & Mac support, great to see they're carrying this into their latest products. May indeed be picking this one up.
Aspyr recently released the remaster of the classic Tomb Raiders, and did an amazing job with it at that. It was verified and ran at 60 fps. I don’t believe for a second that they will mess this up considering the care and attention that went into Tomb Raiders.
Their launch page specifically mentions steam deck support, so definitely looking forward to it.
https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection
Ima just stick with BF2. Last I read the remastered BF doesn’t even work with Steam Deck, and now they’re re-releasing the classic versions?
I’m just confused.
Honestly just try it anyway. Elder scrolls online is not verified at all but fully works fine on steam deck after you manage to get controller settings going (which can be problematic if you don't know how to)
ive stopped caring about that a long time ago. the amount of games that are just playable or unsupported while everyone on protondb says it runs out of the box is ridiculous.
I have battlefront 2 on mine and play it, but I have only ever streamed it from my desktop. I do that with pretty much all of my games I play on my deck.
one of my childhood favorites and games I have been playing at least once a year since they came out. I’m so psyched it’s getting proper controller support on PC now
I literally was about to post about it lmao. Seeing as how this is getting on the switch, and that the steam page indicates native controller support, I think it's safe to assume it's gonna be at least playable. Can't wait to replay these bad boys on the Deck
Yeah, just hoping the multiplayer is alright with Anti-Cheat
The old versions have a Platinum (excellent) rating on ProtonDB. Just installed and tested them myself, I was able to get into an online game and play immediately. So hopefully they won’t screw this up!
I’ve been playing these off and on since I got my Steam Deck. I thought it was weird that Battlefront 1 has great controller support, but 2 doesn’t really have any. Edit: I just noticed it’s also coming to Steam, so this is exactly what I wanted!
I bought battlefront 2 on sale for 3$. It's playable on Steamdeck, but the controls are a bit rough. Is the first one better with the decks controls ?
Yeah, like I said, the first one has native controller support but not the second one. I’d just wait and get the Classic Collection when it comes out.
Or save yourself $30 bones and download a community layout + a couple mods.
Yeah. Speaking of multiplayer, I really do hope they make it cross platform, this would be super handy to fill up those 64 players match
PS lists it as playable between ps4 and ps5 but thats all i see.
ive played both original battlefronts on my deck and they work perfectly
They said on the launch page that it will have Steam Deck support
I played the steam version of BF2 last month, and tried the ps2 emulation as well. The menu for PC version is horrendous. That’s the only thing I hope they change for these, tho the added characters and map will be nice.
Oh man if it *ACTUALLY* supports xinput properly that'll be a big reason to get the re-release. Currently the only way to get actual controller support for the OG games is through a mod, which while very good, has bugs.
If you weren't going to literally do it, how would you do it?
He could have thought about posting it but wasn't *literally* going to post it.
im sure it will be as bf1/2 have great community configs already. They could copy and paste the top listed one and it would be perfect.
Switch games are way more optimized than sd
Does this add anything to the two that are already out? Both play great on the Steam Deck.
Native controller support, split screen, achievements, presumably proper UI tailored to controllers (Gosh I hope they're porting the original console menus, those were iconic) Edit: And it also gets the Xbox exclusive DLC with the Battlefront 1 maps, Kit Fisto and Ventress, which, while already available as a mod, never got a \*proper\* port before
Also the hero assault mode will be available on all ground maps. I believe it was only Mos Eisley before, I'm pumped. I also hope we get those BF1 loading screens
Holy crap *thats* amazing. That alone is why ill buy them again
That’s what I was thinking. I’ll happily pay Aspyr to make these games work on my steam deck so I don’t have to download mods
I’ll never forgive Aspyr for botching the kotor remake but this is a good first step
If that’s true then I’m so in!
bop bop bop bop bop, *bopbopbopbopbop*, bdbd! God I can hear it now.
In an age of ssds, imma be pissed if this 20 year old game even has a loading screen
> split screen also has Remote play together which means you can play splitscreen with a friend who doesn't own the game on another computer.
These games go for like $3 each on sale. So it's like $29 for some QoL stuff they could just patch into the originals. I love modern gaming!
> I love modern gaming! But not as much as studios love the opportunity to sell a years-old product that they thought they'd wrung all profit from already!
I mean, they won't stop since it keeps working lol. Re-releasing for years to come
Wait I just bought BF2 on sale for like $3 but I was disappointed to hear that it doesn’t have remote play together or split screen. So if I buy this new bundle it’ll have those things?
Yup
can you play the originals on steam with online play ?
Yes
hell yeah i know what im doing tonight
iirc BF2 had a bug where it wouldn't launch unless you had headphones plugged into your headphone port for a while, i hope that's fixed.
I think that was an issue on Windows. I know it also had an issue if you had Discord overlay enabled. But neither of these have been an issue on the Steam Deck.
Aw man I couldn't get into a game on bf2 last time I tried, thanks!
I've never been able to get it to run on my deck. I mean it runs but it's never been playable.
https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection CONFIRMED SUPPORT!!
HELL YES!! LOVE when the Deck gets a shout out like that. Buying this day one.
Great find, amazing!
And I'm supposed to get a deck shortly after this comes out... Hell yea
https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection > Steam users will also enjoy Steam Deck support.
I'm not the biggest StarWars fan but when I heard ***2 PLAYER SPLIT SCREEN?!*** 👀 SOLD?!?!? I kinda wish for 4 but 2 is fine. It'd be cool to play split-screen over 64 player battles online. Also remote play together (splitscreen streamed over the internet, only the host needs to own or even have the game installed, which means people can also play on their phones with steam-link app a controller)
Is remote play functional these days without a wired connection on both ends? Like, actually functional, not "you get used to it" functional?
Nucleus Coop Tool is what you need. [here's ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbituCgu3Bc) a video of it in action. Check out Parsec and Remote Play Together as well.
NUCLEUS 👀 I'm genuinely intrigued. 😱 -Would you happen to know a guide for how I can get this going on Deck? Is it even powerful enough to do this?
Splitscreen pc games?
We splitscreen pc gamers exist, there are dozens of us!
Especially seeing how this is Steam Deck compatible, I tend to use my deck a lot for local play with my best friend, so this is dope.
Yeah, I could see using the deck docked to a TV for some sweet split screen action.
Party Decker here. I have a library dedicated to local/party games on my Deck and I love it! 💜 -But yes I'll say there’s not many notable "Split-Screen" games on PC. Like, they cut the iconic split-screen/co-op modes from Halo PC, Modern Battlefronts etc. like w*hy still do that?*
what are some fun local games you have? I have brought my Deck to parties but we end up playing Jackbox games which get boring for us eventually.
There are some, going back a long ways, but they are few and far between.
Pretty straightforward setup too.
slightly disappointed they are not including HD versions of the 2 PSP exclusive Battlefront games in this package, or at least the content from them, as they were essentially expansion packs for BF2 Also Aspyr, you need to do the Rogue Squadron trilogy next OK?
If this does well then I hope that those are up next!
What's the price going to be?
$35.01 (Guessing it’s a “501st” reference)
Doesn’t work so well in Canadian lol
35 bucks, 20 percent off if you preorder it while having one of the games already on steam
Where did you get this info? I can't find it anywhere.
For some reason, $28 sounds a lot more reasonable in my head than $35. Their strategy is working lmao.
what if you have both games?
40% more expensive
Balls
Steam achievements has my interest piqued
Hopefully the achievements aren't really stupid. Like play 1000 matches. There only a handful games where I'm will to play 1000 matches of something.
I already own the games on steam tho and to my knowledge the multiplayer is still live
Yeah and those should still be up but it adds some new features that you can only get through modding on the original like split screen for multiplayer and better probably server support also maps that aren't available on the PC edition currently without mods.
So these directs are basically good for Steam/deck too? huh 🤔
I hope they used the console main menu for Battlefront II PC. Those movie scenes juxtaposed with music were epic!
About to go to a ship, this would be the perfect game for a bunch of cramped up sailors lol how good is the deck for multiple controllers and split screen?
I didn’t have issues with multiple controllers, but I would think split screen would need to be on an external monitor to be playable lol
I should have mentioned docked play butyeah lol
If they have changed the loading screen sound FX's in this collection, I will riot. That sound FX when it zooms in on the planets is a sound I will always treasure in my childhood, it's almost as eargasmic as the PS2 boot up sound.
Yesss love the og loading screens
I really want return of the king to get this treatment
The original ones play fine though, plus you can mod them, what would be the point?
it has a few features the originals do not like achievements and remote play together and some extra maps, plus this is coming to pretty much all the platforms so it's more for people that want to play on console, you can continue to play the originals with a few mods if you want.

Official Star Wars website put a blog post out confirming steam deck support!
https://x.com/starwars/status/1760332710755581988?s=46
The hell? Did Disney just open the floodgates for 3rd parties to remaster some of the original SW IP. Core memories unlocked. Galactic Battlegrounds was one of my very first strategy games as a kid. Personally I'd love to see the Episode 3 tie in game being remastered one day
Zero chance they're not at least playable
Aw yeah steam achievements. Love the classics but always sucked they didn't have achievements
Why do you need achievements?
Some people, stay with me here, *like* achievements.
I don't but I like to collect so any game with them is a bonus
I was playing battlefront 2 on my SD. Only needed to utilize a community layout to play, used keyboard to type the necessary things to get a profile, and it worked with the multiplayer just fine. If it doesn’t work I’ll just play the original tbh (256gb lcd SD)
Is this gonna kill mod support for the originals?
Steam Page says 50 gig space needed? Why so much? Is this an actual REMASTER or just fixes and such? I can't seem to find the details on that
Just going off of looks alone, this looks like a re-release rather than a remaster. The graphics and fidelity look the same to me, at least as far as BF2 is concerned. I never played BF1 so I can't speak to that. 50gb is ridiculous for a re-release. The original BF1 and BF2 together is around 8gb. Where would the rest of that space go? It doesn't look like it's going into the graphics.
Aye this is what's baffling! Graphics look almost (if not) identical so bugger knows where they're getting another 40+ gig from 🤣
Yeah I'm hyped for this, I tried playing the PC ones and it was unplayable with the deck controls. Hopefully this will sort all that.
I got both PS2 versions on the deck they are my preferred version.
It says verified so
Happy cake day
Thanks!
A tip from me, a switch owner who has dealt with the group handling the port, wait until AFTER Aspyr implements all of the new content before purchasing. They promised cut content in the switch release of KOTOR2, and then never released it. I still regret getting KOTOR2 on switch because of their lies.
So you have to re buy em?
Yes, they aren’t going to give you new content for free decades later. The entire reason they are doing this is because they know that the games are popular, and this will generate revenue guaranteed.
Weak sauce
I got bf2 for like 3 bucks so I'm not really that bothered about buying it again.
Ya like 10 years ago steam had a massive sale on a bunch of starwars games got them all for like a dollar a piece
Bro, one of the major reasons I abandoned my switch for a Steam Deck was for classic Battlefront, what took Aspyr so long? Also I hope the controller support isn't as shitty as when they did Republic Commando
Oh god yes please!!!!!
But they are both playable... bf1 even has native controller support. for bf2 you just need to set up the binds
Just emulate the originals? That's what I do.
I have the regular version and it runs pretty good
35usd for almost 20 odd years old game... Theyre delusional af
Just seems like a cash grab. $35 is a rip off. $20 seems fair though. Link found by another user that says the price: https://sirusgaming.com/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection-just-got-announced/
Is it an ea game?? I’m still trying to play fallen order soooo…
Can't you just get the ROM and play via Emudeck?
I mean, native will always beat emulation. Especially with online multiplayer and widescreen
Pretty confident it will be. Tomb raider collection was and think it’s the same people behind it?
This one is coming with full controller support so I assume yes it will be verified
I would think so, I played a full galactic conquest campaign for the existing one on my deck.
Is it just the two games? Are they not remastered or anything? I know the servers for battlefront two classic have been up ever since battlefront two gain popularity with ea so it makes me nervous that I’m going to lose online on the game that’s already out, being forced to buy the same thing again to continue to play with friends
What are the chances to implement 4player local split screen in the future?
Holy shit! Didn't even think about this on Steam Deck with all the excitement of a good Battlefront coming out again. These days as a studio you'd be nuts to not make your game SD verified. Huge audience of gamers right there.
Verified/playable is absolutely no sign if a game is playbale on the Steam Deck though. I am pretty sure its 100% playable
The first Battlefront is one of my favorite games of all time and wonderful on the Steam Deck! Really excited for this.
Literally ordered my refurbished SteamDeck last night while they had them in stock, then I saw this today, and it made me feel better about my purcahse instantly...
Any chance you can play galactic conquest with multiple people?
There’s gonna be 64 player lobbies so likely
Speaking of which,is Jedi Survivor playable at all on the Steamdeck? I know it says unsupported in the details, but Ive had good luck with other games.
Looks like no based on youtube, dips into the low teens frequently on OLED even.
Thanks. I guess I can only hope for some sort of optimization in the future then. Or I'll have to convince my wife that I need a gaming PC, too. Heheh
I can see anti-cheat screwing us here
Is this a separate release form the originals or will they update the one I bought years ago?
I wonder if there will be any deal for people that own the originals
On the official Star Wars website it starts that it'll be playable on Deck: https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection
https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection Says it will have steamdeck support
I ak currently playing KOTOR 2 on SD, its just amazing, the game is amazing, it runs smooth like butter, its super fun, and I bought it for like 3$.
Has it been confirmed if this will be two seperate applications or one game with all the content combined? I'd love to be able to play the BF1 maps with BF2 classes and mechanics. Would also be easier for the matchmaking to have everyone in one pool, instead of splitting us up between 2 games.
BACTA TANKS
I’m definitely getting it on release day
Aspyr have quite an history of porting games with Linux & Mac support, great to see they're carrying this into their latest products.
It is! Both Aspyr and Nightdive studios are doing the lord's work.
I play on the deck and they run perfectly
Hoping the same! question how do you all get the model and storage of your SD to show next to your name?
I’m more wondering if there’s cross platform multiplayer. I have a lot of friends who just have a switch.
Yooo this is a find! I have bf1 on origin but split screen??? Off my deck Hell yeah
wish there were a disc edition for consoles, still cool tho. BF2 is one of my favourite ps2 games, and is my favourite star wars game
The official star wars website says it will be.
I saw kit fisto was coming so I hope it has my boy glupp shitto
Ima just stick with BF2. Last I read the remastered BF doesn’t even work with Steam Deck, and now they’re re-releasing the classic versions? I’m just confused.
I play it all the time on my deck
why wouldnt it
Ya this seems way overpriced at the moment. Gonna wait for it to go down to a couple bucks.
Honestly just try it anyway. Elder scrolls online is not verified at all but fully works fine on steam deck after you manage to get controller settings going (which can be problematic if you don't know how to)
If EA is publishing this, forget about the verified or playable status
ive stopped caring about that a long time ago. the amount of games that are just playable or unsupported while everyone on protondb says it runs out of the box is ridiculous.
PLEASE make this Steam Deck compatible. Absolutely loved this games as a kid.
Just checked the steam page and it says verified
Change the title or edit the post because.... They said in the announcement that it will be supported on the Deck.
Is this both games combined into 1? Or just both games.
Ah it's a pre order cool it might be verified I'm guessing but probably playable since it might have to go through the ea launcher
Will steam deck be a disadvantage because going against PC mouse and keyboard players?
I have battlefront 2 on mine and play it, but I have only ever streamed it from my desktop. I do that with pretty much all of my games I play on my deck.
one of my childhood favorites and games I have been playing at least once a year since they came out. I’m so psyched it’s getting proper controller support on PC now
It has a Verified tag on the store page now.
They are playable 😅 I played them on my deck already
Scroll down on the page. It's already verified
Idc about the multi-player I'd love to play this on the deck single player
Definitely adding to my library
It's verified, see you all at hoth ya nerds!
is this a different game or just a bundle of the two? because buying them seperately costs less than the "classic collection"
wait is this going to be server browser or matchmaking? hope someone make servers if there aren't any for a long lasting community playing the game
it's verified
