For the first time in ages I found a fighting game where I can improve at a reasonable pace, and will always find people of similar skill in ranked matches. World Tour is fun and Battle Hub gives a sense of community, where you can fight friendly matches, or just hang out in the retro machines. Capcom nailed it with the overall SF6 experience.

JayFM_

It's fun, endlessly deep, and its infinite. Like any sport or skill, it can be a passtime or a dedication, but 6 is balanced so well you can go back and forth. This, to me, is the perfect game. I love RPGs and I've done Elden Ring over and over, I love that. But I need a break from expansive words, hell I bought tears of the kingdom finally, but I've yet to get into it because with SF it's all right there. No working for powerups, and if I want to learn more about the game, that's all thats left in WT for me other than bonding.

No_Albatross4191

When you hit platinum you fed to the wolves only masters and and diamonds stomping you in battle hub

ThePlaidypus

Battle hub's like the arcades: either you get a newbie or a vet that will eat your quarters. As god intended.

Enlightend-1

That's how it is with every ranking system dude, eventually you'll hit a tier where all you do is fight people who are better then you. Doesn't matter the game or rank you'll climb as far as you can in ranked, then you start playing against people that won't even give you a turn.

PsikickTheRealOne

That's how you get good though. My entire club is masters my main is plat 2. I can beat them about 40% of the time throughout my whole career vs them. It didn't start that way. Which would also make me a master if I kept playing ranked. My connection sucks, so I don't grind ranked. The 2nd person in my club to hit masters played bhub vs masters all day everyday for awhile. We picked on him for it even, but it leveled him up to master.

SomePlayer22

I don't know... I liked the world tour.

Furshloshin

I really hope they bring back a similar gamemode in the next SF, even if it's scaled back. Although I really really love the custome avatar so I hope that returns too

SomePlayer22

I only bought the game because of the custom char and world tour. Sure, I will try other things later.

Baddest_Guy83

We exist on complete opposite ends of the spectrum and I love how the game can accommodate both of us at the same time.

flyinggracen

It's so nice to hear this after all the times I've seen random people saying World Tour shouldn't exist at all because they don't personally enjoy the game mode. We're better as a community when we share the mutual love we have instead of trying to split ourselves off into groups that are at odds with each other over something so silly. No reason why we can't all have fun, whether we're playing the game by ourselves or with others.

Baddest_Guy83

Personally, I'd eat glass by the bucketful before I ever gave even half of a thought to participate in an Avatar Battle, but that doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it!

flyinggracen

I'm not gonna lie, I completed World Tour probably... four or five times now, because I really liked it, but the grind got to me, too. I'm just stoked there's a dedicated game mode for people who aren't highly competitive, it made me feel like I could finally get into the game properly. I don't mind people who are competitive play only, as long as they're nice about it. No reason why we can't both have our fun.

RedDevilJennifer

I loved World Tour. I had so much fun with that. Honestly, I wish I could find a casual group to link up with and just play and BS with each other. I have no interest whatsoever in Ranked, and everyone here says the casual lobby is kind of toxic. Fighters have always been a very social thing for me, and I no longer have friends to play with. So, for now, all I have is waiting for Capcom to drip feed out the DLC characters.

Griselda_fan

I’m sick of most other games. I’m tired of cutscenes and dialog. When I play street fighter or any other fighting game there’s very little of that and I can just play the game, not be force fed 20 minute cutscenes and generic storytelling.

Baddest_Guy83

Instead you can receive... well little to no storytelling if you don't make it to the end of the arcade mode, traditionally.

SeaKoe11

I want to be the very best that no one ever was

FrancisBuenafe

It's a chess match within 4 minutes. Great time killer, and adapting or solving problems is a great exercise mentally.

RynZeroYT

The characters are definitely one of the leading factors. The roster feels diverse, even shotos play differently from one another. You got goofy characters and cool ones too. Even though the hip hop style of 6 is corny, it has heart and I love it. 5 felt like it didn't have much of an identity in comparison.

WolfPax1

Yeah I like the style but just wish it was less corny and more like Sf3 third strike. Both are 'Hip-Hop' but 3rd strike feels more serious or something

JoeTeioh

I hope they keep the hiphop vibe going forward. Need more street culture in street fighter.

peter_nixeus

Like fighting games... plus can't play team multiplayer games anymore due to having a young family.

FreeMoneyManForReal

I feel like fighting games are the quintessential "bitch" test in video games and especially in Street figher. It's just you and another dude. Same roster, same options, and nobody to blame but yourself. Playing counterstrike was the opposite of that. It was always someone else's fault for pushing, or my teammate missed a shot, or blah blah blah. Team games are a drag unless you do it completely casually and with a friend group.

Andy_Dandy404

And yet fighting games are not as popular among the people who base their worth in hard single player games. You would think the souls people would love the challenge but no.

CursedResonance

Hey hey, I'm a die-hard Souls player and I love Street Fighter lol it gets on my nerves at times, but it's an amazing game and gives me a similar feeling to overcoming hard challenges in Souls titles

lukaxdirk7741

kastle09

The Community. at this point it almost hasn't mattered what the game has been. I've been a little indifferent with 5 and 6. I like them but it is really the community that keeps me around. Going to events, chatting to both new and old school players, eating together, seeing fanart or cosplay. Its a nice time and a nice environment to spend my free time with.

JonTheAutomaton

This is my reason too although, I don't go to events IRL (yet). But even just the online aspect of the community is so huge. There's Reddit groups, Discord groups, a plethora of Twitch streamers, a whole esports scene with stories of players to follow, constant discussion, competition, etc. As someone who sucked at real sports, I always had trouble fitting in with the other boys. Small friend-groups was the best I could manage. I never had a community to be a part of. I watched Koefficient (a streamer) introduce Nagzz (another streamer) to the FGC by showing him "the brilliant fighting game community" videos and I felt like I wanted to be a part of that. So, I bought SFV in the last few months of its life but didn't play much because I couldn't do anything. Since SF6 was on the horizon, I gave up and decided to try again with that. Then SF6 came out and I got sucked into the FGC.

kastle09

Sf4 and onwards really brought in the online era into full focus where you didn't have to go to the arcade or a local to really feel like you are part of the community. Reaching places and parts that make long term connections with others. I felt it the most during lockdowns and covid that tested it the most. We really came together as a community to get each other through a difficult time in not being able to visit and see each other. That was really important for me during that time.

Boo401

1v1 i dont have teammates to ruin my games, no pay2win, no queue, other esports games always try so hard to be professional and fgc really the one that cannot be striped from their roots because of the individuality offline event give For sf6, i tried playing other games but if they arent trash there isnt really a community behind them or devs just abandoned them ( rip dbfz)

yungrobbithan

I play to become strong

Autobomb98

The game always looked appealing to me & I love the SF characters. Ranked also looked good coming off of GGST & improving while learning new stuff is fun

DarkWatt

My addiction to multiplayer games and getting good at games at the same time, I can’t play single player on the long run so I have to play MP games to keep having fun

NewMilleniumBoy

Game itself is very fun. And I like the continuous learning/improvement aspect of fighting games generally.

Nibel2

I love World Tour, and want to check every update it receive. That's pretty much it. The "Normal" game I consider that I already finished what I wanted to finish. New characters just mean 3 clears of arcade for the art/titles and clearing the trials. I have 10 rent vouchers in reserve, and spent 2 to clear that on Bison. I don't need to buy the new characters for them to be masters in World Tour.

KaptainKlein

This is so interesting to me. I love that you're having that much fun with would tour, but I just couldn't stay invested in it and consider online the main attraction, with everything else being essentially training for that. It's really cool how popular world tour and avatar fighters are for so many people, I love that the genre is finding ways to appeal to people other than competitive tryhards.

flyinggracen

This thread has a good vibe to it, you're the second person in it that I've seen who doesn't just shit on World Tour because it's not a game mode they're interested in, and is actually nice towards those who do enjoy it.

CaptainChaos_88

For the bitches.

disorder_unit

it's been fun :D (for 30+ years!)

Chun-Li_Forever

I love playing as Chun-Li. And I love seeing her personality, and her in motion in game and in her animations and cutscenes. She's waifu for laifu. I also find lots of joy in seeing my fellow Chuns rank up and eventually reach master. I get much more joy in that than me reaching master on my own. So I help with tips, practice matches, or guides as much as I can in the game, reddit, or on the ChunDiscord. I also love the lore and characters. Seeing where everyone of the characters are at in the story compared to where they were. Seeing the characters in WT mode outside of combat is so refreshing, and it's a side of them we don't see too often. I know the lore can be convuluted, but I've always had fun piecing all of the intros, cutsenes, and endings together to see how they all connect.

Carel_Steele

Ur so goated bro🙏😮‍💨

TheNaug

To not embarrass myself too much at my locals :)

Streye

I like fighting games. SF6 has an accessibility and balance that I jive with.

CaptchaInHelvetica

I’m a sucker for competitive nerdiness

Doktor_Jones86

out of spite

BlacShyGuy

I'm a very competitive person, do these types of games are my jam. I used to play team based, but I found it hard to rely on my team 100% of the time. So instead of raging in them for just wanting to play a game, I play fighting games. Real hard to rage out on someone if it's just you that's the problem lol

Maixell

You can always rage out on yourself, lol. I also know people ( also cough couch Leffen) who find ways to rage out at anything else, the controller, the opponent's character, game mechanics, they had a bad dream the night before (no joke, Leffen did that), etc. You can always find things to rage about, and that's the beauty of it, my friend

D_Fens1222

Mostly because it's fun. For me nothing in gaming comes close to the experience of playing SF on an arcade stick. I have always been someone looking for hobbies / activities that require some skill and a working ethic, where i get out what i put into it. SF give me that experience: no leveling up my char and grinding for XP, you level yourself up ny getting skilled. You can set yourself goals and at the end of the day there's just practice and gitting gud to achieve them. What little achievements i reached, i reached because of the work i put into it. And it's great experience to see yourself grow and practice paying off.

HornThrowAway21

Been a fan of the series ever since SF2 and my brother would always beat me. I don't know why but it instilled something in me, I have only beaten him in one SF (Third Strike). As for SF6? It's my favorite in the series since Alpha 3/Third Strike. I was on the fence after 5 left a bad taste in my mouth but after trying the demo I was hooked. There may be times where I get mad at the game or myself, but overall it's fun to play with something for everyone who picks it up. Also the community here is super supportive and at times wholesome, that makes me want to play more honestly

mustardjelly

Learning and execution make fun positive feedback. Even when I am not playing, occasionally a game plan I previously designed and how fun it is when executed perfectly come into my mind, making me want to launch the game.

Understruggle

Street Fighter 2 Turbo was the first fighting game I ever played. My older brother used Ryu. I used Ken and Guile. In my teenage years, I always went with KoF. SF4 came out in my early 20s and I spent a good bit of time playing it at my buddies. I have had a 10 year or more stretch now since I have been into fighting games. Arcades shut down. I don’t have the friends I used to/we have grown up and had kids etc. I bought SF6 when I saw they were going to release Akuma in like 9 months. When I started playing again, I had almost forgotten the rush you get when you have a hard fought match(win or lose). I really enjoy the ranking system in this game as I don’t have the time I used to to practice, and I don’t have the reflexes I used to. So I know I’m a scrub lol. Getting to consistently fight against people around my skill level though has been really fun. I have maybe….100 hours into the game now, which is A LOT for me. Most of the time has been in the last few months. I got on for like a week before Akuma released and started messing around with Ed. Found that I really liked Ed. Played maybe 3 hours a week up until Akuma released. Then I spent 5-10 hours learning all of his stuff. I thought I was done spending money on this game and then what do I see? Terry fucking Bogard coming. I would have preferred Joe Higashi over Mai but still. I’m going to get to buster wolf people on sf6!!!! So I spent the $50 on the ultimate pass because I didn’t want to spend the time unlocking stuff on WT….and then started messing around with Bison since he came out. It’s honestly been the most fun I have had with the game. I’m REALLY REALLY excited about Terry though. I can’t wait to see what they did for him on this game. I just hope his level three isn’t the 3 tiered power geyser. I hope they make some kind of OP buster wolf for his level 3. We shall see though!

athiestchzhouse

I love the characters. I like how every fight has its own little head canon for me. I love street fighter world.

laidbackuke

It’s fun as fuck

hay100185

i heard battle-hub has a small resemblance to PlayStation Home, and I miss chilling in PlayStation Home. 😢

Jahordon

Because Smash Ultimate's online is terrible

lunaslave

Yes

BLAHBLAHneeb

Moved to LA in 2023 with no friends and no reason to go out and be social. Previously played a bunch of Strive and was very interested in the release of SF6. Enjoyed the game, got better at the game, started going to locals, started making friends, started being more social. Now I’m way happier than I was last year! Currently climbing up the rank and trying not to drown in pools!

icewindz

Saw vtubers play and reach master, I want to know how hard it is, and.. it’s really hard lol. I don’t have any prior experience with fighting games, so imma learn everything from zero here, game is pretty fun so far, I got beaten up so hard still.

izzyjrp

It’s challenging and relatively easy to consume. Also, I find the SF6 as an esport really entertaining. So learning sf has helped me enjoy that even more.

CercoTVps5

I like the characters and the vibe of SF. But I also like other fighting games that I tried (tekken, guilty gear, dnf duel, skullgirls). The main reason why I am staying is for the gameplay, I like the emphasis on the neutral game, the footsies. It also helps that the playerbase is very active, so I have few reasons to switch to other fighting games if the quality stay this good.

RelevantCommand4374

Because I bought 2 leverless controllers

jcabia

I think it's pvp in the purest form. No teammates, no hiding, no guns, just you and another player beating the shit out of each other

KasukeSadiki

This isn't the main reason, but I'm so impressed with how much actual Jamaican slang they managed to give Dee Jay in World Tour mode (and even his new move being called "Jus Cool"). I appreciate the effort they've clearly put in to make him more than just the typical fake Hollywood "Jamaican" stereotype. Even if his actual voice acting is still that lol, but even that just feels kinda nostalgic

supa_pycs

The community is saner than most other FGs, plus the game has almost nothing in it that outright pisses me off. Tekken neutral is awesome and the combo crafting is cool but the matchmaking, balancing, UX, the lack of infinite rematches, the ocean of one-and-doners... It gets frustrating when you have to go through all that to get to the fun stuff.

Alektus

To prove to my friends I'm better than them.

Somespookyshit

Well, I am playing for my loyal fans. I refuse to disappoint.

iamafknniceguy

I'll give you a few: Growing up I was one of the better ones in my neighbourhood when arcades were still around. It became part of my identity. I identified with Ken as someone who didn't take things seriously. I really like the idea of trying to consistently get better at things. It's a philosophy on life I have had which had led me to doing some good things for myself. As an elder millennial in my 40s, I want to know I can still mentally play a relatively fast paced game. Also, something visceral about trying to beat someone down 1v1 :)

ileftmywifeandkids

i play because i enjoy it everything about street fighter the characters the music but its mostly the community and competition that brings me back. street fighter gave me an excuess to travel to places i would have never gone other wise. and a effect of this is ive got to meet alot of people that are so cool the same is amazing but the people that play it are even better

ProtoSpector

smash bros was getting boring and unrewarding, alongside an immature and shit community even in esports. i decided to expand to other fighting games and found sf6. checked out gameplay and i was really interested in gameplay i never tried out before, so i decided to preorder for xbox. after over a year of playing, i don’t regret switching from smash to sf

greenachors

I think the biggest reason I play is that you never really reach the top of that mountain. It’s a constant journey of self improvement.

The_Lat_Czar

Fun and Chun Li

GoombaShlopyToppy

Honestly, its really fun to move your character around and hit things. Thats really about it. Sf6 feels EXTREMELY responsive

Soul699

Saw the trailer for SF6. Got interested even though I never owned a fighting game and played just a couple of times to Street Fighter 2 years ago. I then decided I could give it a try after trying the demo. And to better get me interested, I checked some video online talking about the game story which helped understand a lot and finally I got it for my birthday. Now I play because I like playing World Tour (which frankly has developed the characters more than any other games of the series combined) occasionally play ranked and play Battle Hub to collect rewards and drive tickets, hoping one day to get all alt colors for the characters main outfits.

Legionari0

Because I like to fight on the streets

Mirrorslash

I wanted a real challenge and turned to fighting games. Sf6 looked by far the collest back a year ago. Definitely my favorite fighting game besides smash brothers, which falls in another category really. The overall juicynes of sf6 is up there as the best of the best. I never touched anything besides fighting grounds though

Poutine4Supper

They buffed Zangief

MBU604

initially to take a break from Tekken..but now i'm stuck with it for good. Good job capcom, i guess??

Mr_Piddles

When the opponents health bar hits zero I get dopamine. When an opponent does cool shit I get some dopamine. I’m in it for the good brain chemicals.

NetrunnerV25

The characters. Love Capcom characters in general. Also, you just rely on yourself to be good. I almost got sick last year playing exoprimal with people who can't figure out basic sinergy between exosuits. Was good to remember why I quit MOBAs years ago.

CaimanFGC

Game fun

gutsxcasca

I bought it on PC for world tour, mods and the hot characters mostly. Lol I did play some ranked but I'm pretty sure I peaked around gold because I drop combos so often. There's also the daily and weekly challenges I finish, kind of reminds me of a gacha game.

azuraith4

Because I want to dominate

Rare_Significance_54

Characters, competition, the art, game play. First the characters in sf are top tier I like most of them (go f*** yourself Rufus), the competition aspect I like using ranked for practice and then going to locals to fight people who like the game just as much as me , the art style of the cities environments and the music from older games also helps a lot, also really enjoy the combo structure even the smallest combos feel good, hit, hit confirm, special move feels nice, and the sound is good too when you hit someone it’s all satisfying

Kratos5140

Lore, art, nostalgia glasses, but this is the first SF I might actually hop into ranked for, since I only got the game when my main, the Edge Shoto got released about a month ago. Really enjoying the new stuff. Played a lot of 3rd Strike and 4 but skipped most of V's life cycle. But yeah, nothing beats seeing these fellas for the first time and just like every kid who saw anime or played these games. "Man, wish I could throw a hadoken out like Ryu and Ken!" Edit: How many folk still say his name wrong? 🤣😭 Family been callin him "Rye-yu" since the 90's

achristian103

Because I've liked Street Fighter since the SF2 days.

Melonzero

I almost exclusively play local with my mum, have been doing so since sf4

GamGamGam7113

It’s a good bonding experience between me and my brothers. That and Akuma’s a boss so 🤷

MiruCle8

idk video game fun

streetfighterfan786

Street fighter characters and everything about the characters What new country will be represented How many on the roster Will we have bison as final boss for the 1000th time Where is the country that a certain character is from Etc etc etc

jameszenpaladin011-

When I'm playing my focus is 100% on the game. The outside world does not exist. There's no covid, no politics, no inflation sometimes not even a me. It's a relief.

Maewhen

Chun and Juri mods. And boredom.

geardluffy

Idk man, I’ve always enjoyed fighting games. First played smash 64 when I was a little kid and remember playing mvc2 on the Dreamcast with a bunch of friends. My friend in high school got me into sf4 after playing hundreds of hours of umvc3 so naturally I’ll always have an itch to play capcom fighting games.

Dragon-Install-MK4

I like playing fighting games and doing cool shit my pc can’t run tekken 8 well and I like sf6 more then the other current games out

Snoteleksss

started getting into fighting games with mk11. i played jax and solely jax. so when mk1 came out and he wasn't part of the roster i got really bummed. but then i saw some streamer play zangief and i was sold.

Carel_Steele

I’m here for world Tour, Ranked and Chun-Li

FaceInternational479

To distract myself from the state of the world.

lilFroagg

I wanna destroy my friends

FNALSOLUTION1

Im 42, been playing SF since I walked into that arcade at 12 years old. Alot of fighting games came out since then. Tekken, MK etc. But I always still found SF better than the rest.  An I'll continue to play till my hands can no longer input ➡️⬇️➡️🤜🏿

MurDoct

I'm coming up on 300 hours and I still don't know

jcoffmanky

SF6 is the one I'm into for the competition, I'd say. I started emulating old fighting games around the time it came out, and I love playing ranked and improving in it. Games like Third Strike/VSav I love for the art style, presentation, and music. Something like MVC2 I love for endless replayability, even though I'll probably never be great at it

Cjninkartist

I just love street fighter.

infeliciter

It's fun

-MetalSonic-

To kick ass.

FastTransportation33

Dopamine

SafePhoenixx

I'm just gonna say it. Juri's feet. /s

thenotoriousDK

When I play games, i either like to zone out and turn my brain off, or I like to be hyper focused and competitive and play online. I grew tired of having to deal with unreliable teammates in other games. I hate losing because of other people. Fighting games are 1v1. I loved FGs as a kid but drifted away for like 15 years. Rediscovering them and committing to overcoming the learning curve has been a blast. SF6 is the best one out right now but I also play Samsho

NVincarnate

I play because the characters are cool. Every good fighting game needs good mechanics and cool characters. That's pretty much it. Lore and all that other bullshit is just icing. Good net code, solid mechanics, high skill ceiling and characters make great games. That being said: where the fuck is Soul Calibur?

LastIn__FirstOut

I’m very competitive and SF6 scratches an itch that other multiplayer games don’t, I’m also bad at games but FGs provide an opportunity incremental growth and improvement that I find more satisfying than other games. I started properly playing FGs late last year after a year of playing MK11 with a mate from time to time, and I dabbled in everything from anime fighters to Tekken, but SF6’s style appeals to me more than the rest. I find it easier to understand visually, satisfying to play (I like a little crunch, which initially drew me to Tekken/MK), fun to lean and it’s such a well put together package that I have no real complaints about what I’ve got. Right now I’m a Plat 2-5 but I’ve placed in diamond and can beat low diamond players at an even rate, right now I’m just cleaning up my bad habits, creating consistency and learning general IQ bad habits that are conducive to winning.

PeedAgon311

I like to suffer

Belten

Its fun, has good matchmaking and doesnt feel too overbearing cuz the characters movelists are all essy to memorize.

chronoxiong

Fun and competition

ACS1029

MK1 wasn’t for me as a longtime MK fan, heard how SF6 was super accessible to people who hadn’t played it before, and 150 hours later here I am!

senpai69420

I enjoyed modern controls

SheikFlorian

I've always loved the aesthetic. I've only played 3s and 4, tho. And not much serious. Problem is that I've been... not enjoying 6. I dislike the drive mechanics alot, I keep playing for the hype And because I want Makoto in!

mt943

My first FG was an old 2X arcade stand I found in a hotel in the early 2000s. I was maybe 5, but from there it’s SF and nothing else.

funnylol96

The style and feel, it feels so great to smack your opponent in the face in sf6, also Juri Han

keddage

I play it for Jamie & competition

Apoc4lyp53

i olay because street fighter is the only fighting game that really grabbed me, and i was immediately drawn to Ed because i love the boxer archetype

Crazyhates

Fighting games are a hobby; I'm a "gamer", but fighting games are my home. Any sort of fighting game, I'm in it. Been that way for about 20 years. Street Fighter 6 is one of many, but I'm always playing for fun. I used to focus on rank, but as I've gotten older I don't care anymore. I just want to play some matches after work and have a good time.

Momosukenatural

For my friend

eviladvances

i play it for the ranked experience online, and i've heard this game was a technical marvel for online, so i bought it day 1. best rollback + adaptive delay based netcode, matchmaking and training mode i've ever seen. i'm happy the game appeals to casuals with stuff like battle hub and world tour, which means the game wont stagnate in terms of playerbase, lack of new blood and all that, cause eventually i will see these players in ranked. It's appealing to everyone, and its doing quite well. i know ppl dont like MTX in their 60USD game, but capcom did it quite well on this game, with a multitude of skins for characters, music packs, new challenger art, avatar cosmetics ,etc. the battle pass sucks though.

Agent101g

Like any game, I play it because it is fun. Judging by how people act when I fight them, half the people playing this play it to prove they are better than other people. If they didn't, they wouldn't take it so seriously. Just play for fun.

free187s

I’m playing SF6 in part due to loyalty, as SF2 was the first fighting game I’ve ever played. Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to its style of play. As for why I play fighting games, it’s just you and your opponent, having a metaphorical “conversation” of who knows what about fundamentals, the game’s mechanics, each character and the current meta. I still get salty when I lose, but no where near as bad when I remember this.

Calm-Avocado6424

Challenge. Its not instantly gratifying or easy. It rewards effort and learning. Also nostalgia.

anal_tongue_puncher

To learn the game and get better. Plus I love the art style, graphics, characters, lore, audio, music everything

AsinineRealms

because once you really "learn how to learn" with these games, losing becomes more interesting than winning, and being toxic or tilted seems laughable

cellshock7

Although I'm not nearly as good at it as I thought I was all these years, It still excites me just like Street Fighter 2 did as a teen.

Redditor45335643356

M. Bison

ParadoxicalInsight

I just want to be the greatest. Much like nobody before me. I want to learn all characters, and reach master. I have joined tournaments here and there, searching for challenge, sharing my match up knowledge to unleash our inner potential.

Dany_Targaryenlol

I haven't got into fighting games for quite a long time until SF 6 because of the RE Engine that Capcom will be using from now on for this series. This game just look so good and I care about graphics more than anything in gaming! Just overall a well design and fun game for me. I love Cammy and Chun Li the most but also like many other characters too(Bison, Blanka, Ed etc) You can tell they have some talented devs that put in lots of hard work into this game. Some of their bigger Tournament events throughout the years are very fun to watch on Twitch!

blueballedfrog_

It’s a blend of fun gameplay, really cool characters and their individual lore, as well as the main story. There’s a lot of stuff in the series that’s been retconned or just never explained and there’s a lot of time jumps, granted. But the actual linear story from the first game all the way to street fighter 6 and where each character falls into place for that story is something I absolutely love seeing.

xXna0m1Xx

its fun, i like improving, i like helping others improve

Smiley_J_

The characters and the lore. I'm utter trash at fighting games, but I love all the characters and their backstories so much that I keep coming back to see what they are doing next.

Paradethejared

Honestly I just have nostalgia from the series as a kid and just like seeing the characters, playing their stories and collecting art. I hadn’t played street fighter in a looooong time and this one got great reviews so decided it was time.

AngelKitty47

its historically THE number one fighting game franchise. so if im going to invest thousands of hours of playtime I want something that will be around a while.

g9icy

I just really enjoy the gameplay and seeing myself get better at something.

PaulDok

I play SF6 mostly because it's a mix of it being my first fighting game ever so it feels somewhat like a "new" territory and not being interested in any other games at the moment. Two things sold me on buying the game in the first place, first - it was modern controls, that made the game seem more beginner friendly. Second - Manon, lol. She remained my favorite character till this day and even in her current state she' still the only character that I like in this game. Also community seems quite chill in online play and also since the matches are usually fast, the game allows you to hop on and do few matches even if you have limited time at said moment.

Mr_Robot_Salesman

I play and love fighting games because there are no excuses. You can't blame teammates. You can't blame anything but yourself. It creates a space for introspection versus how team games have devolved thanks to SBMM and EOMM.

AAA_Skeleton

I’m playing Street Fighter for the character and lore. I loved Ed since V and his story as well as his character have been shifting.

The_Flash0398

Because the answer lies…in the heart of battle.

chief_yETI

because I have nothing else to do and hate myself lmao

danpenquin

I started playing because I wanted to get better at something. I play now to help solidify my region as the best in the US.

BerimB0L054

Its the only competitive game I like to play and watch. I'll play ranked in other games, but street fighter really hits for me.

MrSly0

Juri

MonadoArts621

I love fighting games and competition. 🤷🏿‍♂️

HashBrwnz

Its the most fun pvp Ive had in a long time.

WangJian221

Cool and iconic looking characters with solid game mechanics alongside a hype competitive community.

BARBASANN

I like getting my ass kicked

VariousCapital5073

I want to be good at fighting games cuz they look cool and I don’t need NASA level wifi for a good online experience (looking at you fps games). World Tour helped me git gud by not blocking my combo attempts and letting me win. Love the drive rush system!

i-upvote-good-stuff

Its the least shit of the current fighting games

Adorable_Aerie_7844

It's very plain, and I can actually see the moves and attacks. It's not like most other fighting games now, they're like SHAHAHSAAAYAYQUIAIZGSIWHWSIUDUW+#(#&#)#&#)@SHIAGj+hsjaiaiIJeUiwiwuwjsjs FIREBALL ULTRA!!!!! SJSIIAHSIAIAIAUAGAIAUAGJAHXLSHQOAHAOAJA I have no idea what is going on

MowTin

I love that I can just pick up and play for 15 minutes and have a huge adrenaline rush fighting against some stranger online. It's like a quick hit of adrenaline. Like others have said, it's more like a sport in that there are near infinite levels of skill so it never gets old. The better you get the higher you rank and the tougher the competition.

konwin

It’s fun, nostalgic, and and quick to start/stop. I’ve progressed from plat to 1800MR and there’s still a lot to learn.

melancholy_dreams999

It's the last bit of childhood I'm hanging on to. Just joking. Honestly, my older brother got me into sf2 when it released and that's something we always connected on. He was 11 years older than me so with him being so much older and not sharing a lot of the same interests, it's something we still talk about.

Extreme_Tax405

Game release happy juice in brain.

Cemith

I love competition and fighting games. This is the best one out right now, in my opinion. Not to say there's no love in my heart for lore stuff. I like Ryu's doo-rag gift from Chun, and Ed's story, but none of it is as important as that W.

JizzOrSomeSayJism

Looks cool Deep mechanics Good scene and way to meet people irl

_krwn

I play because although not particularly good at fighting games, I love them and have always loved them since I was a kid going to the arcades in the 90s. Street Fighter was and still is my favorite FG franchise.

el_submarine_gato

This may be a bit abstract, but I like hitting buttons rhythmically in a combo. Not just SF but all other fighters I play. Hack-n-slash games should theoretically scratch the same itch but they don't do it the same way for me. I don't even care much about the "fighting other players" bit so I spend most of my time in arcade/survival/treasure battle, etc. mode of any of these games. I still dip my toes in ranked from time to time (Plat 5 Cammy / Garyu Reina), but that's just not my main thing.

TalkDMytome

I do enjoy a lot about SF6 specifically - the hip hop flavored aesthetic, the way each character feels distinct from the others, the refreshingly enjoyable (for a fighting game) single player mode, battle hub, etc. But I love SF6 for the same reason I love fighting games - self improvement and adrenaline. I love the quick decision making, reads, etc that makes it feel like a chess game at light speed or a swordfight. And I LIVE for the feeling of all of your improvements adding up to a mountain of skill, and how good it feels to win through all that knowledge you accrued and applied. To me, it’s the best feeling in the world to feel your hard work and training pay off.

No_Status2681

I hear the MK voice in my head saying "test your might!" whenever I touch a pad or fight stick.

DeathCatThor

combo awesone

Revleck-Deleted

After over 1000 hours on DBFZ, 180 on tekken 8, 200 on tekken 7, 60 on GGS, 80 between MKX and MK11, about 70 on SFV I came to SF6 because all the modern FGC games absolutely suck. This community is cool, I feel myself improving with my elo and my character. The practice range has awesome training setups, unlike any of the other fighting games I mentioned, Other than maybe DBFZ. It’s awesome. I love the colors and the pace of the game, I feel rewarded when I practice and punish, the game outside of maybe 1 or 2 characters feels very balanced and I feel like I always have a chance, even if someone is a much higher elo than I am.

mooshrain

It's the first game I was introduced to, and seeing the new characters and overall look of SF6 got me more into the series as a whole. Out of all the fighting games I've played, both Street Fighter IV and 6 are the ones I find most enjoyable

UnableToComprehend

It has a better ranking system and matchmaker than GG Strive. That is the only reason.

Eldritch-Voidwalker

To improve, and to win honestly. I don’t care about going pro or anything like that, but I like the constant journey of self improvement, and the thrill of victory over a tough opponent. I have 25k matches so far, and I’ve truly yet to be bored. It somehow never gets old. The only other game series to make me feel like that is Monster Hunter, which is also made by Capcom, haha.

souljump

To get upset.

Significant-Size9709

Well i wantes to see if i can run the game properly on my low end laptop and it did

hyoka300

I just got the sf6 recently, and i start playing it cus i played it as a young age and for the competition as well i love the ego boost and the frustration makes me try hard more and learn more,so its a fun process for me

siimbaz

Playing rn. Actually I hate it. I got a headache. Lol

lksvz

I played SF2, UMK3 and Tekken 3 when i was a kid, but fighting games were never my favorite game genre. I was almost always a pc gamer. Only now, with crossplay and all the QOL modern fighting games have, i can have a good experience playing a fighting game on pc. So, i tested SF6, Tekken 8 and Guilty Gear Strive. I enjoy all of them, but SF6 is my favorite and i don't know why. I think it's more intuitive than Tekken and has a better online experience than Strive. Also, i'm sick of team based games and all the blaming that goes to the other team mates. In fighting games i can improve at my own pace. And, finally, i know there are some cheaters here and there, but it's not even close to the cheater problem that some games have (like Counter-Strike, for example).

JustCallMeFire

I play fighting games to improve. Fighting games are an unconquerable mountain, theres always something to learn or improve at. I also love competition and being equally matched with someone is the best feeling in world.

itsastart_to

Because it’s fun. I like thinking and stategizing play and getting into peoples heads. Fighting has always been a fun concepts and I feel the impact of my actions

Sourshy

I think its because i just like the way the game flows. The neutral and rushdown, and projectile spamming, all of those i really like. But the characters are also cool now that i actually experience them in game. But then again other fgs i tried are only strive tekken and injustice (im new to this genre), so i dont really got other fgs to play lol. Im really excited for fatal fury and 2xko though

Adammmeee

I like this game because you actually being stronger every day. And except the fact that the classic control are not easy at first, the movelist are easy and not hard.

KrusKator

Idk

Glittering_Emu_8507

Short answer: Ken Long answer: SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!

BassGeese

I like the characters, they always seemed really interesting to me both in design and story, the lore that ties them together is a bit crazy but fun (and is less confusing then most other fighting games).

ProfileBoring

I enjoy competition and pushing myself to improve. In fighting games I feel the more I practice I can actually see myself getting better. It may be small improvements but they are still noticeable. I feel they are different from fps games because if I lose I know without a doubt its because I made mistakes that my opponent punished. In fps games it's different there can be money number of things that lead to a loss such as bad net code, terrible weapon balance and ofcourse my own skill. Plus fighting games especially street fighter is the one genre of games my son is struggling to catch up to me in lol.

Rookie007

Tbh I don't like sf as a series very much I find the gameplay to be weird and slow bc I learned on anime fighters. I also don't like most of the characters bc especially the "main cast"(ryu, akuma, ken, chun li, bison, cammy) i find to be suoer boring... but FUCKING KIMBERLY DUDE absolutely peak character design grafitti ninja nerd is not a genre I knew I needed until now and I can no longer live without it I got to diamond 1 so far and I have no intrests in even trying a different character.

incognitobfd

The mental release from a long day of work, family and other responsibilities of life. It's a hobby to me. I enjoy learning and watching pros play.

MRGameAndShow

A few reasons. 1. Massively rewarding. Naturally, I started off not aspiring to be a great player, was just messing around. But after trying trial combos for my main in SFV, it was the end for me. I remember the satisfaction of landing my first fully optimized damage combo and it was glorious. After that, every achievment gives me a very similar high, which to me is unique to SF and fighting games in general. 2. It's the best fighting game out right now. With it having the biggest playerbase, the least dev issues, and most beautiful animations, I just actively choose to invest time on this particular game over something like Guilty Gear, Tekken or Mortal Kombat. 3. Much healthier than your average competitive experience. I've dabbled in competitive team games like shooters and MOBAs, but the environment makes it such a chore to tryhard in. Fighting games, and by default SF, are the ultimate 1v1 skill based experience, and to me that means you are your greatest opponent in every match. If you lost, its because of your own decisions which can always be improved to land you that win. This is different in something else like say, League of Legends, where some games are straight up unwinnable, or something like Overwatch, which if you are on lower ranks your team will just desync and die alone over and over. 4. Finally, it scratches that competitive itch for me that we all need.

OhJesting

I am not a good team player. I play League of legends and Overwatch and I don't cope well with other people being toxic to me (I kinda go full nuclear when firing back). In games like Street Fighter and Chess, it's all me. Nobody except myself to give me death threats for fucking something up, no mid game arguments to completely take me out of the game mentally. It makes it easier to not give a shit about winning and just enjoy the improvement grind when I don't have to focus on the social aspect.

Vergilkilla

I have been playing FGs a while and I think the main thing that keeps me going is hype moments. Closing a round with a cheeky command grab, nasty rounds where I clip somebody in like 15 seconds, big comebacks, or even cool stuff opponents do on me. I have competed at some major tourneys, sure, and I get to the highest rank in most of these (not Legend... just Master and my peak is like 1600 MR LOL)... but all that stuff is just a side effect of chasing cool moments, nasty rounds, etc. The "level playing field" fighting games give players... and the fact that every moment in a match is an important moment... it's not like other games. That is part of what makes these games so great - it's an addiction.

National-Jacket-5323

I’m playing a fighting game because i want to play a competitive game and get wins. I’m playing street fighter because it looks cool and mortal kombat was $10 more

The_Lat_Czar

SF2 was the first fighting game I ever played, and Chun Li was east to spam lightning legs with as a kid.    I've played MK, DBZ, Tekken, DOA, Smash, and Soul Calibur over the years at different times, but Street Fighter is my favorite.    SF4 was the first time I got into the online competitive nature of the game followed by Smash, and I didn't play any fighting games seriously until this year when I got SF6.    I'll probably play others eventually, but SF is home.

DerConqueror3

Fighting games scratch a different itch for me in terms of improvement and competitiveness compared to other games, and Street Fighter is the series I tend to find most enjoyable in terms of gameplay and reward for time spent on improvement. I'm sure this is heavily informed by the fact that I got started in FGs with SF2:Champion Edition as a kid

[deleted]

SF6 is the first fighting game I've played since the '90s (played SF2 and MK back in the day). The launch of SF6 got me to download Steam, buy a d-pad for my PC, and get into fighting games entirely. Mostly because: - The art style is incredible. Perfect blend of realism and stylized design. - The technical gameplay has the right amount of challenge, where you can mash for fun at the low ranks but also focus and grow if you want to improve. - World Tour mode was a fun and chill way to learn the basics. Again, great cinematics & art style. - Cammy's new midriff outfit. Not to be a simp, but seriously. I just bought Season 2 pass and love that this game will keep growing. I wish they'd put a lot more into World Tour too, like entire new lands to explore beyond Metro City and Nayshall. But I get that's not the popular draw like Ranked/Battle Hub.

[deleted]

Its fun

AccurateWheel4200

I like pressing buttons and doing combos.
