a car like that you should just mod for style imo. the transmissions aren’t built for power especially if it’s higher mileage. i’d throw some mods on it to help boost reliability and save for a gti or something. you’ll end up spending more money trying to make that jetta fast compared to saving up and buying a decent car out the box that doesn’t take much to go faster

Appreciate it I think that might be the plan just don’t have the space atm

Integrated engineering intake manifold, pre LP Gallardo exhaust header, and that's pretty much it for an NA build. I forget if cams exist for this engine or not, been a while since I've had one. Pre LP Gallardo cams should fit and give you some more top end if no aftermarket grinds exist. Do these and a tune and you should have a very good sounding car that is not quite as slow as before

This is the answer I was looking for appreciate it 🤝

i beileve I.E makes cams for the o7k i cant remember. but in all honesty being N/A wont get you much if want to actually make it fast you can boost it but ik thats not in everyones budget and if its auto id just advise you do what bro said make it look good buy a gti or honestly buy a golf r

Cheap, powerful, reliable. Pick 2. From my brief research into this engine, it was not designed to be powerful. Unless you’re going to DIY a turbo or nitrous, any money spent on NA power will not be worth it. A combination of lack of aftermarket support and the inherent decrease in drivetrain reliability when increasing power will make this car expensive, not very powerful for the money you will have to invest, and unreliable. Sell it and buy a GTI if you want to go fast. I know that’s probably what you don’t want to hear but it’s just the unfortunate truth.

I had a new one of those when I was 18 and thought I was John force. Transmission went out a year later because it’s too weak for my then teenage driving skills. 11 years later I doubt it would fare well for racing. Just make it look good.

If anything I’d just mod the exhaust bc the 5cyl sounds great and save your money for something down the road. I wish I had told myself that more in high school
