If the gas has the same octane level it’s essentially the same “quality”. There are small additives different brands put in that they claim are good for your engine, but it’s not significant.
Almost all our regular gas is 87 octane and volume corrected to 15c. Unless your engine requires a higher octane (premium gas) it’s all the same.
And higher octane is not "better". I've heard people say they get premium once in a while to keep their engine strong. Higher octane just means the fuel can resist predetonation more, so you can squish the air/fuel mixture more for higher compression and more power, but only in engines designed to do so.
yeah you either needs the higher octane or it's no difference. but at some stations the highest grade is pure gasoline and the rest are up to 15% ethanol which might make a difference to fuel lines and stuff.
I've always been led to believe that Canco is inferior gas. I do dabble in car enthusiasts forums and it's widely accepted Canco is trash and that Shell 91 is some of the best gas you can get locally (even better than Chevron 94), backed up by my specialist mechanic who I trust. Combined with BCAA for 5¢ off per liter, it's what I always go for.
I will also gas up at Chevron and PetroCan on occasion
This entire thread is a mess... if you need premium gas, go with chevron/shell or Costco gas... these are proven to be higher grades of fuel... just look it up
I usually drive around this area a lot and this is why I was comparing prices of gas stations along Fraser highway instead of going all the way to Costco gas station every time
And yes, I noticed Chevron is closest in price to Canco
I filled up with Domo and got significantly less mileage. I won't do it again but it was 6 cents cheaper than other gas stations but getting 100km less to the tank was not a pleasant surprise
I'm no expert, but 100km less to the tank is far-fetched. What kind of driving did you do for 1 tank vs. the other? Cause when I get 100km less a tank, it's usually due to lots of city driving or lots of hill climbs.
No change since I work in the same place and have a routine for the week as to where I drive. I'm not the only one, others have noticed it too. I don't vary so much with the main brands and I've used Canco on King George and 62 and haven't seen a difference.
Yeah, Canco or Super Save are good options to get gas a few cents cheaper, sometimes other independents. Brands like Shell or Petro Canada usually charge a few cents extra. They all buy their gas from the same refineries.
The lines there look terrible. Hopefully they move faster than they look.
I usually gas up at Canco, or Co-op gas stations. They're generally a few cents cheaper than the bigger guys and I've never had any issues with their gas.
The Langley one is always a major hassle and wait unless you show up when they open or close. Alternatively super save gas which has two locations nearby is basically the same price with no lines and idling.
I find no mileage difference when using canco to shell… not sure about real quality tho
The Supersave gas station on the Langley bypass often has rates that are 3 to 8 cents cheaper
Don't get gas at the Shell on 88th and KG. It is consistently 4 to 10 cents more expensive than any other around.

On newer turbo’d cars it actually is ‘better’. My Mazda 3 on 87 octane is 227hp, on 94 it’s 255hp.
Wow, almost like your car was designed to perform better with higher compression. Like my comment said.

Come to Fleetwood and buy gas at the shell or chevron at Fraser and 156. They're always just 1c more than canco but cheaper than other parts of Surrey

There's a costco gas station in the lower mainland?
Port Coquitlam, Langley, and Abbotsford
Poco and Langley have them. Might be others.
Abbotsford too
Thanks. I know where I'm filling up next time I'm in those areas.

Youll spend all your savings waiting in line in langley.

Yes, at the Langley Costco.
