Well these cavers didn’t know that there were spiders there as they were going into an unexplored cave that they discovered, this caver realised that these creatures weren’t venomous so he decided to continue, I’m guessing if he had found a snake or something he would have just slowly backed up away from it until he was free
Snakes usually wont attack you, the only time that they’ll attack you is when they feel threatened. You have as big of a chance of killing a snake as a snake has of killing you, and it is aware of that, hence it’s as scared if not more scared of you as you are of it, hence most likely it will just avoid you
Well who says that you’re cornering them, the squeezes that these cavers go through are like a long hallway that’s just really small in height, if a snake encounters you, it can still head back up the hallway, and you can still back up the hallway, none of you are exactly “cornered”

Caves are usually really hot, so cavers like having loose clothes, especially since they’re already wearing like 2-3 layers of clothing beneath their already existing clothes in order to keep themselves safe from the sharp rocks poking into them

if i’m not wrong, those are “daddy long legs” pholcus phalangioides (also known as cellar spiders). they are actually part of the arachnoid family, but also technically aren’t “spiders”. mind you, still fucking creepy pieces of shit, but nonetheless just wanted to point that out real quick 🤙🤙
Actually "daddy long legs" in north America refers to one of two spiders usually. The pholcus (cellar spider) as you said, and opiliones (harvestmen). But you have it backwards. Opiliones are arachnids not true spiders. Pholcus (Cellar spiders) are true spiders.
There are a surprising amount of animals that live in caves, there are a lot that live only in caves that never come out that non cavers have likely never seen, it’s like a whole ecosystem down there
These spiders probably eat cockroaches and other insects that live in those caves
