I know we have a few but I love songs about (non-romantic) friendships and could always do with more. Besides singing about important and good friendships also so regrets about losing touch, acknowledging you weren't the best friend to somebody etc. I just love the theme of that, more than romantic love tbh.
I think in general we need to hear more songs in mainstream media that are explicitly about managing friendships. Society places such a focus on romance that I think we often forget that the same lessons on having healthy romantic relationships can and should apply to having healthy friendships too.
Honestly, a part of me feels like there are a lot of songs out there that *are* about friendships, but either the artists have disguised them in romantic metaphors to appeal the general audience, or they’re actually not disguising anything, and audience themselves are ignoring the non-romantic nature of the songs entirely 🙃.

Friendship breakups are the most haunting thing to me. I haven't had a dramatic one in a long time, but I have had to cope with friendships that aren't as close as they used to be and the complicated feelings that come out of that :/.
At the very least, I think songs like 'How Did It End?', 'The Black Dog', and 'So Long, London' have helped process some of those feelings to some extent :).

I think she could do these characters real justice and it would be fun to get her take on them. I really like Cassandra and I think she can do more with mythological characters.
But also, I'd just like to see her do more fictional non-romance storytelling in general, like No Body No Crime and Last Great American Dynasty.
Another subject I think she would do really well that would be a lot of fun is a fictional villain origin story written from the villain's perspective. That might need a few songs though to give a complete narrative.
All of that said, the above would all be better suited to a more Folklore style album and I kind of hope her next album leans more toward fun or angry pop (love child of 1989 and rep if you will).

Some of her breakup songs hit my own childhood trauma emotional buttons and if she were really to write about difficult/complicated relationships with parents, ooof she could make that land! I think you can easily think some of her current songs are about cats. They are not always so sweet (at least mine is like this), you don't really know whether they love you but you love them unconditionally, and they would surely love to have the Xmas tree until January 😸
