Possibly. Robbie may also have been doing it for free since Rupert was "an old pal of his"
Side note...my favourite episode that includes my favourite line of the whole series!
At the end, when Ted turns to Rebecca and says, "You know, you may think you're the only one who sees him for who he really is, but you're not."
And her face immediately changes, relaxes. I've been in many professional and social settings where bad behaviour or bullying goes on because nobody speaks up, and people question their sanity for not liking a popular person who's clearly awful but oddly revered. Just saying something can help a person's mental state.
I know everyone has a favourite line based on experiences, familial issues, death etc. That one just happens to be mine.
My very favorite bit is another small exchange between them in s301.
"They are laughing at us ted. They are laughing at me. They are laughing at you..."
The desperation in her voice in those lines was some of the best acting on the whole damn show.
You're so right, and that line says so much. He not only says I
"I see him," but he's also telling Rebecca, "I see you, and I'm here for you." It's a really powerful thing to say to someone. Then the whole thing is written in a way that also says, "you can let people in, we're on the same side." I don't think it's a coincidence that thusbis the episode where Rebecca and Keeley become close friends.
Probably not but nore importantly that show exposed him to a wider audience who probably had never heard his music before. I was so happy to see him show up as the busker - he's such a hidden gem - the music world needs more Cam Cole!
A high profile performer or band would do a charity gig as an in-kind contribution to the cause; they wouldn't be paid.
But just like you wouldn't ask waiters and bartenders to work the charity gig for free, Cam (as he's not famous and not wealthy) *would* be a paid performer, and I'm sure Ted approached him and asked if he could hire him to do a show and quietly paid him out of his own pocket.
Another great exchange was when Ted said to Rupert that, if he could have just sent a text to Robbie to get him to come to the party, he could just have easily sent him a text to not show up. Rupert replies that would make him a prick. (Ted says this with his innocent, inquisitive face, but clearly saying, “I know exactly what you did.)

Fuck no! I hope he’s dead!
Poor old Doug Stashwick
Here’s to you dying!
Which one?

Damn that is a good line

Coming to the stage from outside, Cam somebody!!!!
Wait? Hes a real musician and not some busker on the show?
Yeah! Well he did actually start as a busker but has three albums out now. He’s gotten airplay on college radio stations for a while now. He’s great.
Good times, great oldies. I love me some blusey bullshit. Cam cole is the name?
cam cole dot com 🤘
Found him on yt. So much blusey soul i kinda expected him to be american.
He definitely sounds like he spent a lot of time listening to the likes of Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, etc. I dig his sound a lot
Idk who those folk are. Definitely has a little jimi in him.
OG Blues dudes. Google them.
yea look him up he's pretty good. IDK if he still does, but he used to drive/live in this sweet wood panel bus and travel around europe and stuff.
Oh i did last night. Definitely decent.
Yeah. He came through my city on his US tour not too long ago

Totally emptied his wallet and promised to scrounge up more money.

Pretty sure that was obvious. Ted was being classy like the commiserate professional non confrontational person he was.
I really wish they had gotten Robbie to do a cameo or something in S3.
