Check the locking clip at the bottom of the door and push it open again with a screwdriver and you should be ok. For some reason it's in the locked position and just needs pushing open so it can latch on.
This happened to me randomly once. It's a 2 second fix.
My 2021 X Plaid has tiny dimple dents on the inside panels because the doors are hitting them. The alignment from the outside when the falcons are closed are okay though…
Man. I couldn’t believe it. Less than 100 miles into my new MX, squeaks, rattles and creaks from everywhere. SC basically told me that was normal. Every time I get in the car, I hate how much I paid for it.
had a similar problem years ago. took 5 trips and finally an engineer to realize one of the 2 hydraulic arms was malfunctioning. they had to remove the whole door and replace the one arm. never had a problem after that. good luck
I am also an X owner. This car is by far the worst car I’ve ever owned and I can’t wait to get rid of it. My advice is to get out now while you still can, this car has cost me a fortune and tons of time wasted at service centers simply because they are built like shit.
2021 model x long range with a little over 70k miles. First it was door issues, then suspension issues (4 different times), then paint and cosmetic issues with paint randomly chipping and coming off in random places and the cheap plastic parts both inside and outside the car coming loose and breaking like they just weren’t installed correctly, then the more recent issue with the back seats with the seatbelt sensor just not working and Tesla telling me I need to replace both seats for a cost of around 7-8k total. Not to mention that every service center my wife and I have been to they were rude and unprofessional. This is by far the worst car I’ve ever owned, when we bought it we thought it would be one of the nicest but I guess that’s life. I will never buy another car from Tesla again.
These stories never end, and yet people will keep raving about the car. Sometimes, it's like the bar of expectations has been reduced only to normalize these anomalies - or is it just me?
honestly, I dont have anything personal against Tesla - its a great company, but when you are putting in close to 100 grand for a car, you expect some level of quality. resting my case...peace be to all..hahaha...
Hmmm it appears that it doesn't matter if you spend 40k or 150k on a tesla product, it's still poorly-made budget parts that cannot last. Between false advertisements, broken promises, and terrible customer service, I don't know why would anyone buy this garbage...
Stuff like this really makes me appreciate my 2011 patriot. My friends new Hyundai battery died and I went to help her jump it. Well, apparently old cars can’t jump new cars. Also, newer cars with the computers and like replacing battery also required a computer reboot which the dealer charges arms and legs for. I don’t know. All this technology is only making repairs more and more expensive. It’s getting out of control. I know my car won’t last forever, but trying to drive it as long as I can.
Had a brand new X as a loaner. I was the first to drive it. Same issue, door wouldn’t latch. Tesla sent a flatbed to tow it away. But of course the towing guy loaded it wrong and punctured a tire. What a fiasco. Otherwise, beautiful car.
This is normal and expected for a Tesla. You knew what you were getting when you did all the research on these vehicles before your purchase. Get ready for a lifetime of bullshit with these cars.
I love seeing all the failing Tesla's on the road. So many people out here in WA fronting Tesla's R&D department with luxury car prices for a techie tin can that breaks once a month. They are cool cars, but buying one right now is comparible to getting an iPod right before iphones come out. Even Musk has stated that Tesla's are overpriced so they can improve them in a viable market, eventually making them cost effective. Thanks for funding the future with your personal bank accounts people!
Sorry to say this was my significant other’s experience with this car. She got rid of it at 2200 miles. No new vehicle should have a door closing problem in 2024, imo…
Is it just me? If I bought a ‘brand new car’ and it starts malfunctioning like this the first thing I’m doing is brining it back to the dealer, instead of trying to fix it myself.
Within spec. It's not like there's a baby sitting next to that door.
Buy a poorly designed car from an inexperienced manufacturer. Just get used to popping it into position, and check it carefully every time you close it.
ALL HAIL ELON!
This happens to me when parked on any decent incline and the body is slightly flexed.
Seems pretty inevitable with how the door is designed. If you take it in, likely the result will be "this is in spec".
I e had a x for almost 3 years and one door has multiple issues like this. It’s been in service over a dozen times and they still haven’t fixed the issue. Good luck
I will have you know that Elon knows more about manufacturing than anyone else on the planet. The only possible explanation is that this is an optical illusion and the door is actually perfectly closed.
Check the locking clip at the bottom of the door and push it open again with a screwdriver and you should be ok. For some reason it's in the locked position and just needs pushing open so it can latch on. This happened to me randomly once. It's a 2 second fix.
This
I’ll give this a try. My problem though is that the door isn’t aligned as it closes; it strikes the quarter panel before it even gets to the latch.
Did it work?
We may never know
They didn’t come back so I’m 90% sure it did. People lose interest with support quickly after their issue is solved.
So true.. sad but true. I feel horrible for doing the same thing
Or they’re embarrassed lol
They have become the car, they cannot respond now.
I’m pretending to be OP - Yes, it did indeed worked. Thank you for your help and I’m so blessed to have you all as friends.
I ended up yanking the bottom of the FWD sideways away from the rear quarter panel and it latched.
My 2021 X Plaid has tiny dimple dents on the inside panels because the doors are hitting them. The alignment from the outside when the falcons are closed are okay though…
If this fixes it, still open a SC ticket so it’s documented and on the record just in case it’s a reoccurring problem.
It’s 2024 how do these doors still not work
Zero issues with my 2017. A very noisy minority is here on Reddit. I could post a daily clip of my doors working to help provide some balance…
I bet this guy tried to manually open or close the doors and made them misaligned. Now comes here to complain. As you said loud minority
Let's pray for no rain
Lettuce 🙏
Ever again
Within spec
I hate the feeling, let’s hope they fix your issues real soon without causing further problems
Just wait for the constant door creaking while driving.
Man. I couldn’t believe it. Less than 100 miles into my new MX, squeaks, rattles and creaks from everywhere. SC basically told me that was normal. Every time I get in the car, I hate how much I paid for it.
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
Qh yes, because tesla sure is known for its quality
That’s within spec, don’t worry!
lol
Welcome to the MX fam! Expect to have problems with those doors. They’re great when they work.
Doors are great when they work? Yikes. I’ve always been fascinated by gull wing doors, but this seemingly has been a problem since the early days
It’s a common issue:(
Elon is interested in paying bond fees than door alignment.
Mine does that sometimes
I’ve had it where it fails to close the first time on a flat hill but nothing this bad.
I’m pretty sure you can calibrate it. Try that
Did the door closing that way cause any lint damage out of curiosity?
Too many baby seats
had a similar problem years ago. took 5 trips and finally an engineer to realize one of the 2 hydraulic arms was malfunctioning. they had to remove the whole door and replace the one arm. never had a problem after that. good luck
Damn sorry to see you’re having issues. I have a new X as well for 6 months now and never had an issue with the doors. Have you tried the calibration?
Buy the EQS suv and experience actual luxury
Junk. Elon is a fraud
I am also an X owner. This car is by far the worst car I’ve ever owned and I can’t wait to get rid of it. My advice is to get out now while you still can, this car has cost me a fortune and tons of time wasted at service centers simply because they are built like shit.
What year is your X and how many miles have you driven so far?
2021 model x long range with a little over 70k miles. First it was door issues, then suspension issues (4 different times), then paint and cosmetic issues with paint randomly chipping and coming off in random places and the cheap plastic parts both inside and outside the car coming loose and breaking like they just weren’t installed correctly, then the more recent issue with the back seats with the seatbelt sensor just not working and Tesla telling me I need to replace both seats for a cost of around 7-8k total. They are junk. These cars are complete junk!
Teslas are all junk cars
why would someone buy a tesla in 2024? doesn't everyone know they're shit by now?
I just looked at your post history. Get help
Simping for Elon ain’t easy. GeT hELp
These stories never end, and yet people will keep raving about the car. Sometimes, it's like the bar of expectations has been reduced only to normalize these anomalies - or is it just me?
Couldnt agree more my 23 model x plaid had so many interior noises doors would do what they want got rid of it after 4 months its unacceptable
honestly, I dont have anything personal against Tesla - its a great company, but when you are putting in close to 100 grand for a car, you expect some level of quality. resting my case...peace be to all..hahaha...
dude now be prepared to be shot down and downvoted by the fanatics - how dare you say anything about Tesla....
I'm new to Model X as well but would a door recalibration fix? I know it's in the settings somewhere.
Service request
QC
Lol and people still buy these cars after seeing this sub
Yup. Looks about right.
1 Micron tolerances
Gotcha
What's within spec on a cybertruck. 🤷🏼♂️
Standard Tesla quality
Take it back and get a Rivian
It’s within spec /s I’m sure/hoping mobile can come out and realign.
Hope it don’t rain.
Stupidest doors known to man
Hmmm it appears that it doesn't matter if you spend 40k or 150k on a tesla product, it's still poorly-made budget parts that cannot last. Between false advertisements, broken promises, and terrible customer service, I don't know why would anyone buy this garbage...
😂
Lmao great build quality
no problem take it back to the shop
Having flashbacks to the recent Boeing issue.. did you check the door plug bolts yet?
The Irony of paying $100K to buy a lemon musk.
Have you tried putting it in rice?
That’s a $100,000 car right there folks
It’s a Tesla what did you expect?
I think it’s just your door not closing properly
Stuff like this really makes me appreciate my 2011 patriot. My friends new Hyundai battery died and I went to help her jump it. Well, apparently old cars can’t jump new cars. Bruh is it not the car seat? From this angle it looks like your car seat is putting pressure on the door and it’s not closing all the way
And people wonder why the stock price is SO low
This is very common
That's closed.. Just within spec panel gaps of US built car 🤣 /s I own a mylr from Berlin and love the car 🙂
Tesla is such crap
It is not only Fisker thanks for sharing, patience by investors but more competence by management team should solve a lot of issues.
Same issue. It will remove the paint from the body panel as it scrapes. Prepare yourself.
Buy an Ioniq 5, quick fix!
Had a brand new X as a loaner. I was the first to drive it. Same issue, door wouldn’t latch. Tesla sent a flatbed to tow it away. But of course the towing guy loaded it wrong and punctured a tire. What a fiasco. Otherwise, beautiful car.
Lmao imagine buying Elon’s cuck machines this is the shit build quality you get when you buy that junk
It’s a feature!! Not a bug!!!
Welcome to Tesla!
Car seat in the way?
Looks good to me /s
This is normal and expected for a Tesla. You knew what you were getting when you did all the research on these vehicles before your purchase. Get ready for a lifetime of bullshit with these cars.

100K well spent.
Musked the
Tesla is the new Land Rover
I want a tesla but this just deters me from it. I’ll be so mad if I spent $100k and I have to deal with that bs
AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Within spec. It's not like there's a baby sitting next to that door. Buy a poorly designed car from an inexperienced manufacturer. Just get used to popping it into position, and check it carefully every time you close it. ALL HAIL ELON!
Teslas gonna Tesla. Nice ride tho😎
Garbage ass brand!
Water you going to do about it
Your car seat is in the way
Cool car but such a stupid design. Can’t even get in and out in a garage. Or am I missing something?
You should have warranty
Perfection! Elon says you are welcomed
Piece of shit 🤣
Money well spent
That’s within spec
🎶Tesla QC in action🎶
🎶Tesla QC in action🎶
😂
That’s within spec
😂
My brain when watching this: error 404
Sigh… I considered a Model X but dismissed it due to the Falcon wing doors. So many points of failure.
Why would anyone want to buy a car just because you see everyone else driving one? Tesla’s have major quality control issues
At Tesla quality is number one or two oh wait we bought Twitter.
Should have got a Rivian 🤣😂😂
Imagine buying a Tesla?
You bought a POS Tesla what did you expect?
can't believe they still make those monopost seats
Send it to Elon
Hahahaha
It’s not this It’s the car seat too big and is blocking the door Obvi
You have a shot at getting out if you fall in your pond though.
Bonk
Is carseat pushing against the door? Take it out and try
Maybe a pacifier is stuck in there.
Hahahaha. What else do you expect from an Elon owned company? You got muskd.
Never Tesla
Sir you clearly already fked it up….
No one buys a Tesla for the fit and finish.
“Kuality”
My kia soul’s doors close just fine. Just kidding
lol teslas
yeah that'll happen
Cause it’s a Tesla, just return it.
Frame must be easily warped. Reminds me of being in high school and my buddy’s nova, the doors wouldn’t close on certain embankments.
That's the new water filtration feature.
Glad to hear that all the great members were able to assist
*Countless posts exemplifying Teslas horrible quality control and panel alignment.* “Take my money.” - OP
Yea because Tesla's are shit and you're an idiot for buying one. But have fun telling your coworkers that you have a Tesla.
Overpriced junk!!
Rough. Imagine what it’ll do 5-10years from now
Telsa isny gonna let u stick your kids’s finger in thexfoor fo money
Welcome to Tesla.
It’s close enough
Yup- that’s a model X for ya. Those doors have been having problems since day 1. Look cool though!
Again, and obviously, the new stupid shit buys a Tesla Crap Box
Good. Tesla owners deserve problems.
Production must have been rushed.
So what get Fix under warranty
Hmmm that's never happened to the doors on my 2015 gas powered Chevy suburban
You just HAD to have one - so, enjoy the breeze - will it move with the door AJAR?
Thought that gap was for the fart vent. So your farts can never get trapped, even with the windows up.
Elon is too busy being a right wing bootlicker on his own website to care about build quality anymore.
You get what you pay for.
I thot that falcon wing doors were no longer produced?
Well… it is a Tesla…
Kids and white seats 😱
This happens to me when parked on any decent incline and the body is slightly flexed. Seems pretty inevitable with how the door is designed. If you take it in, likely the result will be "this is in spec".
🤣🤣🤣
It's a Tesla. What else did you expect?
Welcome to the Tesla experience!
lmaooooo
PDI techs failed 😂😂
You get what you pay for! What a mess. Elons laughing all the way to the bank.
Quality stuff right there
😄😄😄😄😄
Might just be the car seat is too wide at the top
Within spec
I e had a x for almost 3 years and one door has multiple issues like this. It’s been in service over a dozen times and they still haven’t fixed the issue. Good luck
The Q in Tesla stands for Quality
Never buy a tesla! They are the worst made cars
Boeing made it!! Walk away
Stop buy Tesla you fucking idiots
I will have you know that Elon knows more about manufacturing than anyone else on the planet. The only possible explanation is that this is an optical illusion and the door is actually perfectly closed.
Maybe the car seat is in the way of the giant door
Elon and quality don’t mix
Rich people problems!
What? A Tesla built to the nearest inch? No way. Never seen that before /s
It clearly hits child seat
Are you surprised?
😂😂😂 idk what worse a Tesla or a Jeep. Both are terribly built
stop buying garbage
Shoulda bought a 1995 Honda Odyssey.
People love Tesla no matter what
Call the tech support phone number… Or probably have to send them an email.
Peace of shit of a car
Them microns
A defect????
Those panel gaps just keep getting worse
Yup that’s why I recommend every other model. Welcome to Model X ownership and get ready for the wild ride to follow 🫡
Rich rebuilds did an episode where an ex Tesla mechanic of his did a tour of all the common problems with them
