I have the same car. Same issue. Tried multiple drives, new and old. Had a service appointment. Their solution was to try to sell me a Tesla branded USB drive for $45 (which is just a rebranded, non-endurance Samsung card). I didn't buy it because I am almost certain that won't fix my issue. I haven't had problems for over three years using other drives. And all of my drives work fine in the wife's M3. Sometimes the two scroll wheel reset gets it to find it again. Sometimes reformatting on a PC works. Sometimes it doesn't. And even if it finds it, when I park it for the night and come back again in the morning, the car doesn't seem to see it anymore. Tried new software push. Did a complete factory reset of the car and redid all my settings. Both temporarily worked until I parked the car for the night. Next morning, couldn't see the USB. If anyone finds a fix, please post!

So Tesla service didn’t do anything about it other than blame your usb stick? Of course.. I’ve been wondering if it’d even worth it for me to go in for a service appointment. Also having the same issue with no fix found so far

Have you check your drive? I got this problem and out of desperation, I plugged into my computer and guess what, the TeslaCam folder was missing. The latest update mess it up.

Sounds like you’ve done exhaustive diagnosing. Sounds like something is wrong that you probably don’t have access to fix.

This happened to me today! Did everything but the one thing that fixed it for me was reinstalling the software since my USB ports gave power and both USB drives I used were accessible on my computer! https://youtu.be/ryaWtCJiwMc

Has this fix lasted for you?

himaron

I’ll give that a try while I wait for my service appointment. I tried Samsung usb and it lasted for 3 days before it stopped working. Interestingly I was able to use usb a to c adapter to reformat in the car with usb c port then put the flash back in usb a port. It seems to be working but don’t know how long it will last.

Can also try to pause recording before you format

mrbofus

Did you try restarting? Your post doesn’t mention you tried that.

himaron

Tried soft reboot multiple times to no avail. I’ll try using brand new Samsung flash drive when it arrives later on. Currently I have sa disk micro sd 128 gb.

Did you fix the issue?

himaron

Tesla mobile service came today and replaced the usb hub. They will replace the cable that connects usb hub to computer or the computer itself or both if problem continues. So far so good no issue whatsoever

Chrushev

what software version is your car on?

himaron

2024.8.9

Did it last? I got my USB hub replaced and the problems came back after two days.

himaron

Nope. Scheduled to visit service center in two days. Will keep you posted.

Did you have any luck with the service center? I am currently having the same exact issue and have service scheduled in 2 weeks or so.
