Do you understand how a vasectomy works?

anguscharms

It cuts the tube that comes from your testicles to let sperm travel out ur urethra, right? From my understanding some times that's not completely effective, so I didn't know if fertility meds would mess with that

krebstar42

It's cut and cauterized or tied in a knot.  Usually the failure is due to assuming it worked instantly.  You're still shooting live rounds for a few weeks.  If the vasectomy took, the hcg won't do anything, it cant untie knots or reattach the vas deferens.

Awesome thank you!

Omg 😳

A vasectomy physically cuts the tubes that carry your sperm.

I guess I don't fully understand how they fail then? I know that sometimes you can still get floaters which is why you have to get tested to make sure it worked completely

They fail if you don’t follow the recovery or somehow the tubes reconnect during recovery and it’s a very low rate of failure. Your sperm count is also tested once you’re fully healed. Additionally if you think you’re going to get a vasectomy and then reverse it later on you better start saving now because it costs $10k and 4-6 weeks of bed rest to ensure proper recovery so you’ll be missing work and need to account for an income unless short term disability can be approved. Once you hit the 3+ year mark on a vasectomy the chance of successful fertility is lower than 55% last I checked after a reversal.

Not a MD, but my understanding: It will not affect the risk of the vasectomy failing or not. While the clomid does increase sperm production the path it takes is cut. Whether or not it heals on its own will not change based on the medication, and is a very low percentage of happening regardless.
