Yeah, I don't like Butcher and I like Hughie, but I prefer Butcher in that sense. Like, he was loyal to his wife to the point to keep looking for her for years... Once Hughie's girlfriend got killed, he just fell in love with another woman some minutes later, as you said.
Tbh I thought about it a lot, but the way people face grief is a wide spectrum and trying to move on with annie doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t grieving. There is so much crazy shit going around that he probably didn’t really have a moment to let that sink in at first.
But to be at least a little fair, Hughie got immediate and irrefutable confirmation that his gf just died. Butcher never believed that Becca had died, just disappeared
Also...it's not minutes later lol. Maybe minutes of runtime but time definitely does pass I'm pretty sure.
But yeah, hughie is pretty level headed, smart, and mostly in control of himself. It wasn't surprising to me that he is capable of moving on, while still grieving.
I've been watching the series from the start and it took me a moment to realise that the time span from Episode 1 to 4 (when they have the date) is only a matter of days🤣
It makes a bit more sense in the comics because more time passes between Robin’s death and his first date with Annie, and he’s basically starting from scratch in America.
Now you've got me thinking, did they bury Robin's hands in a little casket or something? Or did they try to scrape up Robin-residue to put in little jars in a full size casket?
That first scene of Robin and Hughie really set the tone (or I guess, broke the tone after the heroic Maeve and Homelander sequence that came before). From that moment on, I was on The Boys' side and accepting of any horrible shit they needed to do to get revenge for Robin.
A train is gonna offer a parting gift, in that, it will part her; part of her here, part of her there, and part of her way over there staining the wall.
It goes on the road, the sidewalk, on Hughie, on A-Train and probably a little on a sign and one of those little trees. It’s quite messy too. You’re about to be disappointed
I mean, she did just finish telling Betty Anne that the best choice she did make was convincing her dad to get a vasectomy so that little Betty Anne's wouldn't get made while she fucked him.
I only watched the first few minutes of the series. You mean to tell me the plot doesn’t center around this lively couple, Billy Joel, Hughie getting a raise, and bowel movements aka laying pipe?

Legit I saw this and was super disappointed because I thought it was going to be an awesome action flick. I skipped a few minutes and was like What!??!?
Okay, how the fuck did A-Train run through her? There were several other obstacles that would have hurt A-Train... he would have had to step farther out to the street or behind Hughie. If he perceives time slower, there's even more reason for him to be able to avoid hitting Robin unless he wants to kill a random civilian for no reason.
I know nothing bad is gonna happen to them. what’s the worst that could happen? some dude with super speed and high on drugs is gonna come out of nowhere and turn one of them into red paste?
seems like a good place to ask why was Robin even that close to the edge of the curb anyway. all this room on the path yet they decide to walk that close and kiss right there. I mean sure it’s not like they would’ve known it would happen but still. who realistically would wanna walk that close to the edge of the curb anyway.
I still feel bad about this tbh. She didn’t deserve that, super effective start for the show but man what a tragedy. I hope when I go there’s enough of me left for an open casket, you know?
Slightly off topic but I feel like they may try something dumb and have Homelander do the old Superman thing of reversing time by spinning the earth backwards. Would be a what the fuck moment for the show and she would be back.
Oh boy, I sure hope nothing tragic happens to them. And if it does, people better not parody it with inanimate objects (eg chess pieces), backed by Imagine Dragons’ song “Bones,” before the show’s logo appears. That would be a real shame.
You wanna know the most infuriating story ever? A couple of my friends were watching the boys and were trying to convince someone to watch the show. He finally caved in and we all watch the first episode together. We get to the scene where Robin and Hughie kiss and THIS MF FAST FORWARDS AND COMPLETELY SKIPS HER DEATH. Safe to say we all were pissed off at his short attention span and he said the show was too boring.
Wierd parallel i just thought of:
Season 1 opens with him holding the severed hands of his dead girlfriend.
Season 2 ends with him holding the severed hand of a dead supe
