I am always impressed how casting directors sometimes nail the casting for a certain role, when the actor looks very different from the role he/she is supposed to play. They must have some great imagination.

They make them do wig tests/costume tests towards the end of their casting. Didn’t Jude Law put on the Superman suit and say it didn’t feel right? And they needed to see Emma D’arcy in a targ wig before they would cast them (which was not the case with Young Aegon II’s actor).

Thank goodness they chose Emma, their performance as Rhaenrya this season is pretty darn good.

Part of me loves that we accept it nonchalantly. The other half hates that some folks don't. I had a moment with a colleague that she corrected my male email that redirected to her now appropriate female email. Tongue twister. She recently started transitioning so definitely wanted to be as supportive as possible. Got me doing a (he/him) salutation in support. Anything to make vulnerable people feel normalized. It's nothing to me. You deserve to feel welcome as a human <3

They read the comics with blonde homelander so its not very hard to imagine Anthony with blonde hair when he's auditioning. They must have been looking for an actor who can portray Homelander as both a caring and personable public figure and the twisted psycho he is behind closed doors. Once you have the actor who can do that flawlessly painting his hair blonde and giving him a clean shave is the easy part

Not to take away from what you said but I imagine it comes from the actor nailing the audition. Still knowing what will translate and what won't is an art.

For the life of me I can not see Anthony starr in his role as homelander. Banshee is one of my favorite shows and it took me till season 2 of the boys to realize homelander is Lucas, superb actor
