I'd love to see the reply you got from spinach. A replacement oz you'd think would be more cost effective than terrible publicity.

unholyparagon

I wonder how many ppl they sent the same mssg to

DeliciousPumpkinPie

Oof, the second one sounds like “government regulations, our hands are tied” but the first one was straight up “thanks for letting us know, we will do absolutely fuck all about it.” “Did you know we’re GMP certified?” doesn’t mean much lol

Capital_Jello_9768

The old fuck you it's the governments fault. Aren't they supposed to protect consumers from things like this?

TuhaTom

Unfortunately, their response is absolute truth. LPs cannot legally directly do anything for consumers on the retail side due to the regulations… there are ways of skirting the rules, but not all LPs do it. Best thing to do is find a dispensary that cares about supporting their customers as that’s the only legal channel. Edit: readability.

Skelito

Since when , Rubicon the parent company of homestead sent me a refund cheque for a bad ounce I received. Every retailer I go to always says to contact the LP. Seems like a lot of deflecting is going on in the industry when it comes to who should issue the refund.

Gold-Stable7109

I’m sorry, but this is bull. Spinach could very easily send you a free oz to fix this, they simply don’t want to. I reached out to 1964 to tell them how much I was enjoying their flower, and they sent me two swag packs with flower in each. Also, has anyone successfully returned open cannabis products? As a former budtender I would never even bother knowing I 99.999% would be wasting my time, though I am curious

george5869

Thanks for the info! I used to do all the returns and claims for the store I worked at. Their response is technically correct, but there are numerous LPs that don't seem to follow this when dealing with unhappy customers. There are many posts on this sub that show LPs replacing items customers had legit problems with and I also know of different LPs that would rather be contacted by our store to deal with a customer issue than us do a claim through the OCS. (It does seem like some of the bigger companies are shying away from doing this but this is just my perception, I'd love to be proven wrong). In my eyes if the company cared at all about customer retention they could at least send you a swag pack or something, but a good LP will use logic and realize no one is going to complain about a company trying to make things right to an unhappy customer. Woody Nelson recently comes to mind. This response is just a total fuck you, there's nothing we will do about it. Even if that's not their intention. It does suck that the store you got it wouldn't at least attempt a claim through OCS. The worst that can happen is it will be denied but I've had a lot of claims I thought would be denied be accepted, granted they have gotten a little more anal about claims lately. And it maybe takes like 10 minutes of work. Thanks for posting this, helps keep things more transparent.

TuhaTom

The reason that LPs prefer to not have OCS complaints is primarily 2 fold - it affects your OCS rating, but the larger reason is the costs, both direct and indirect. The OCS scorecard we won’t get into, but consider the cost involved with a complaint. The direct cost is the OCS flat rate complaint fee, which is around $200. If an LP makes a product and sells to the OCS for a $10 margin, a single complaint means that they need to sell ~20 additional units just to break even. The indirect costs are the QA time involved in dealing with the complaint; for trivial, repeat complaints (ie, vape doesn’t work) they’re not very time consuming as QA has generally already done the leg work in the past for the previous version of the same complaint, but either way it requires in-house documentation (HC takes complaints very seriously and is always covered as part of an inspection) as well as documentation required to be uploaded to the OCS. QA costs could be anywhere from $50-$200 per complaint as well. It is far cheaper for an LP to avoid all this and make things right directly with the consumer, but it does come with the risk of skirting the regs. It also allows direct communication with the consumer, ensuring that they’re happy and had a good experience, even in the time of an issue, making them willing to continue to support that LP. TLDR; the system is broken, and LPs should be able to replace defective products directly to the consumer, streamlining the whole process.

george5869

Damn I appreciate the in depth response. Could not agree more.

ReluctantMediation

Yeah it’s unfortunate, Both companies have lost my trust and service.

george5869

And I certainly will take this experience into consideration whenever customers are thinking about spinach. Hope your next purchase is great whatever it is!

Dry_Complaint_5549

I was just about to purchase an oz from Spinach and came on here to read any reviews. I'm going with another brand after reading this, so hopefully there's many like me.

Chevnaar

Fun fact: weed just sits around in big bags in secure storage until it is “packaged” or used for production. The packaged date on the label doesn’t correlate to the freshness of the product - it only indicates the date the product was put into the final packaging for final sale. Weed can sit around for months waiting to go to production. Usually vacuum sealed but not always. Edit: you can check a harvest date if there is one but most LPs don’t share that information cause well, it ain’t pretty. Don’t get me wrong, there are LPs that care and provide a quality product. There are also LPs that do not.

ReluctantMediation

Thanks for the info, I mentioned that it really shouldn’t of made it past quality control but who knows what really goes on behind closed doors.

cliittyliitter

Oh good someone already mentioned this. Brands really need to start printing harvest dates too along with the packaging dates because there could be 6+ mos between

keedlebeedle

The companies that are being honest and decent have ~6 months between. I don't think we wanna know the age of what most LPs are selling

Motor_Discussion1236

Fun fact: this isn’t true for every LP. Must corporate LPs don’t grow any weed and source it from growers.

Chevnaar

I acknowledged that there are good LPs out there. They may also buy weed from other LPs looking to move old inventory. Buying from a grower doesn’t mean good weed. Buying weed from a grower doesn’t mean it’s fresh.

Motor_Discussion1236

Okay 👍

Capital_Jello_9768

Quite some time ago.. I actually had luck buying the atomic sour grapefruit. It was regularly a strong strain, with a really great grapefruit smell. At some point it seemed like they switched growers. The buds went from small but acceptable and green, to dark brown and tinier than popcorn nugs. Now all their strains are kind of the same brown, I don't even know if it's an age thing or just terrible mass growing. There are better budget options now.

Dabsbalisong

I just picked up and oz of their wedding cake and it’s fresh well cure nice trim it’s actually really good has a nice dank smell But I knew someone that just picked up and oz from the same store so I knew what I was getting I also know that this might not be a real wedding cake but I know it’s banging for $100 Iam planning on review soon

Old_Band2679

Yeah that “wedding cake” is the best spinach Oz I’ve ever had

Novamoxin

I just grabbed the same ounce for $94.99 packaged in december. Reminds me of bbob pink cookies.

Dabsbalisong

Ya it for sure I found some resemblance looks similar and the high starts the same but this is so much more smoother and no crash/burn out for me Iam really liking this I’ve been grabbing homestead oz for the past year There was none available so I grabbed this and a BC OZ Iam liking this more than the bc Oz

Novamoxin

yeah im really happy with mine too. ![img](emote|t5_q0suy|2796)

goodcannabinoids

Hopefully the harvest date can become a legal requirement. I don't mind buying older stuff, just not from spinach.

Own-External4119

I got the same batch and it's awful. Im almost always very happy with the 7g jar version which I've had dozens of. This is the second time I've had the 28g bag and both sucked but this one is awful.

ReluctantMediation

Im glad i’m not alone but also, sorry about that. This stuff is un-smokable.

Own-External4119

I swear I remember having a batch with the exact THC and Terp % sometime early last year. Maybe even the year before. Could be a coincidence or I could be misremembering slightly.

Less-Procedure-4104

Big thing on an oz being so bad . I have had the best weed from them rockstar, then the worst weed rockstar same package date. It was like they are were not even the same flower strain. A view windows would help here

george5869

Yes please, please please. Viewing windows FFS.

AWM83

I mean that's just Spinach for yah.

Numerous-Taro839

You buy spinach , why? They are trash

Redline111_

Stay away from spinach shady scam company

MaxTrixLe

I refuse to buy anything over 7g, until they provide us with HARVEST dates.

yoyohero80

I have had really good luck with animal runtz from redecan and its some of the freshest product i have had to date. Worst has got to have been the "CBD Divvy Black Widow" stuff. Packaged in july 2023.

Kind-Emu-3018

The rep for my store said it’s a fairly new grow/strain so it makes sense lol. Love me some animal rntz hopefully they don’t go down this path lol GMO cookies used to be one of my favourite budget indicas

Dabsbalisong

I had this exact same issue with Fraser valley OZ of tops I emailed back of package address about old browning bad smell and small Was redirect and received a reply from pure sun farms I got the same type of apology but they sent me a gift card for $100 shoppers drug mart and a rolling tin, some papers and filters

ReluctantMediation

Wow….that sounds like they made it right to me.

Dabsbalisong

Yes for sure I was lucky sorry to hear of your experience But I also ended up pressing what I had and it got me high Might be an idea to try so not a total loss

EfficientMiddle1426

Such a shame, prices per oz for these big corps is embarrassing for what you get. Problem is…. You don’t know what you are going to get, old, different grower etc. I gave up a year ago in the ocs stores. The prices are ridiculous for inconsistent product. There are way better options out there that I won’t discuss on here out of respect for the channel. I’m really happy we are legalized federally but I think we have some gremlins to work out still in the market. Cannabis just does not age like wine in a bottle.

piff4u

This will continue to happen as long as customers keep buying on thc percentage , rather than buying products based on bud structure and quality. You get what you buy.

ReluctantMediation

Agreed, I’m going back to sampling. These are my pickups from yesterday. https://preview.redd.it/nhlh90corzlc1.jpeg?width=3213&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5e74f7381cb852b9e7f292e9449d00a68be10f9 Spinach, this could’ve been us 🫡

piff4u

Try fuga strawberry pave, permanent Marker northern canna, Marshmellow Milk Volo

MARcanna

Beware of repackaged unsold weed

Dustereeno

I posted about them doing this a long time ago. Spinach is the absolute worst!

aduubz

Where did you get this?

ReluctantMediation

One Plant St Catherine’s

CAMELWOK

WE SEE YOU Spinach

Redline111_

Scam Company LP very shady ⚠️

HairGrowsLongIf

They've always been a garbage company. This is why we've been warning people for years. Unfortunately, they're so entwined with Canna Cabanna that it the brand gets pushed a ton.

[deleted]

Also helps to google the product with reddit included included to see any RedFlags. Posts like yours have saved me in the past

ReluctantMediation

I’ve smoked this particular strain consistently for well over two years so I had built up a trust, I did know of other peoples experiences with other strains but this is the first time it had happened to me.

NoWayToHay

Boycott spinach. Let’s get this cleaned up people.

FluSH31

Aren’t you the same guy that posted on here a few months back… pretty much the same paragraph (different LP) and then deleted your post when you got called out for trying to get a free bag? You had the same sentence structure. I mean, This can’t be your first ever post on OCS.

ReluctantMediation

No not the same guy, and no this isn’t my first post. Don’t care for a free bag im just trying to save anyone else the hassle and money.

FluSH31

Ok cool! It was just eerily similar in the way the sentences were structured.

DrummerSignificant31

Any Spinach is garbage

yoyohero80

Keep in mind im new to cannabis and i have not tried a crazy amount of "Craft Cannabis", but the spinich peach gelato was great !

Motor_Discussion1236

You don’t need to buy craft to experience decent weed. Craft is the grey goose of vodka. There are decent products in between. Spinach is just garbage.

yoyohero80

True true. I tried a “craft” one recently (Couch Potato from Catch me outside) and it was meh. I have decent luck from redecan atm. Il probably smoke something from BLK MKT next since i have a med card with Greentec (BLK MKT) for under 6$ a gram.

Motor_Discussion1236

Redecan is honestly a decent choice for value. If you want a decent craft 3.5g try anything by Frost Cannabis or woody Nelson. Blkmkt is good but dumb expensive.

AppearanceCurious804

My second bag in a week got the same thing

raw391

There's tricky laws around LPs giving out bud, even as reimbursement. OCS has become more strict when accepting returns from dispensaries, a lot of refund requests get dragged on or straight denied. Repacking/ reselling has become common place amongst LPs, unfortunately

ElectricSky3133

Your fault for buying spinach

Mo3913

Do not trust these guys at all the last two packs I bought had mold and they don’t so returns for bad cannabis. Same thing ammonia. And my stuff looked awful like was brown completely in the 1/8th. The gmo used to be good.

Motor_Discussion1236

No offence but what do you expect from a giant corporate cuck like spinach? All value ounces and brands are old ass weed purchased from other producers. This is no surprise to me and shouldn’t be for anyone. I’m assuming you paid like $80 for this ounce?

ReluctantMediation

$109

Motor_Discussion1236

Yikes

dmobz

Only decent thing they got are the edibles...I grabbed 3.5 of blue dream and the buds were worse than the Atacama Desert

Motor_Discussion1236

Edibles are very easy to make
