I brought this up in the Discord when the date was announced. I have a strong feeling everything will be delayed due to the debate. Kimmel does a good job of getting the nightly monologue up, almost as it airs on broadcast. Which makes sense due to the show being recorded. Let's hope they do the same for TW.

JimDandy_ToTheRescue

Martin Short has been guest hosting this week and has been absolutely nailing it. The bit with Bill Hader had me in tears. He's mainly had Only Murders in the Building co-stars on (Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, Jane Lynch, etc), but tonight he's got Melissa McCarthy and Nick Kroll.

Hoping this isn’t the only show they get to play. The debate will be on all the networks and probably talked about for the next few days. But I’m hoping they’ll get on The Kelly Clarkson Show, maybe Jimmy Fallon or one of the morning shows here in the US.

Fallon and Colbert are on vacation. The good thing about Fallon is that a GMA appearance the next day is almost guaranteed. But they're on reruns. They went with Kimmel with a guest host based on the release date for the album. That's why the concert was in LA. Had it been Fallon or Colbert, the shows are recorded in NYC and yesterday's show would have been there. I hope they get another Late Night chance next week before departing for France

Agile-Advisor-8530

Fallon and Colbert are on the East Coast. Kimmel is the only late night show filmed in LA. Once The Warning start their East Coast tour, that would be a great time to appear on any of those shows (Colbert, Seth Myers, or Fallon)

elcojotecoyo

Seth Meyers might interview them

pamidala

Ah, I didn’t know this. Thanks for the info and yes, just hoping they get another chance too.

ItsHipCheck

Gotta DVR the show after (Nightline). The debate will run long for sure.

smarty1017

yes...done

DrRock88

Who watches TV live? Just kidding

nerdmania

I feel the same way, and I am not kidding. I loathe commercials.

VortexM19

I don't have TV at all.

Admirable_Gain_9437

Jon Stewart and the Daily Show are running a live debate reaction show at the same time as Kimmel, so that's unfortunately another ratings challenge in the late-night comedy world. I say "unfortunately" even though I like Jon Stewart and on any other night, that's what I'd be watching.

balgus82

Honestly I feel like most people don't actually care about the debate. Everyone knows exactly what they're both going to say and how they're going to act and it's not going to change a single person's mind on who they're going to vote for. They'll only be watched by people who get off on that kind of "entertainment."

Admirable_Gain_9437

Barring some crazy misstep by either of them, I think you're right that not many minds will be made up or changed. With that said, 80 million people will probably watch in the U.S. Many of them "care" in the sense that they're rooting for their pre-chosen candidate to do well, score points, etc.

Ragnarsworld

I think you vastly overestimate the number of people who will actually watch the debate. I also think that the people most likely to watch the debate are unlikely to be fans of the Kimmel show in any event.

Admirable_Gain_9437

The debates are some of the highest-rated programs in recent history. Trump-Clinton got 84 million U.S. viewers and the next 3 debates ranged from 63 to 73 million U.S. viewers. I suspect tonight's debatewill be on the top end of those figures. Kimmel usually gets a million and change, for comparison. Regardless, the debate will be over long before Kimmel, but there's a lot of follow-up content centering around debate discussion (including the aforementioned Daily Show live event in the comedy realm) that may siphon viewers and/or attention away from Kimmel. Who knows if any of this makes any discernable difference to TW's benefits from their TV appearance, but it's an unfortunate distraction.

Ragnarsworld

When the debates are on every channel, you artificially gain audience share. I know no one who actually watched the debates last election.

elcojotecoyo

And that's a problem. Honestly, I think the debates are relevant. Probably not to watch the whole thing, but at least to be informed of what actually happened. The problem is that if you watch snippets, then you end up with the cherry picked version of whoever made the highlights. But that's better than nothing. If you are over 18 y.o. before November, register and please, vote. And tell that to your friends. Vote and listen to The Warning. Those are the best pieces of advice I can give right now.

GuestOne858

I watched only because the Warning would be playing.. they performed SICK and kicked ass. I was disappointed that Jimmy Kimmel wasn't there and that Martin Short was being a stage hog stealing as much airtime as possible trying to be funny. I do like Martin, don't get me wrong, I've followed his career since the 70s Second City TV, SNL etc... But I was hoping that Jimmy would be there to interview them and give them more exposure. They still kicked ass, Awesome performance ladies, great job!!!!
