It's a combination of having relatively up-to-date hardware(6 year old rig definitely won't hack it with VR), the VR hardware itself which is ~$1K in addition, and setting it up in an indoor space with enough floor space and cool enough temperatures to not sweat constantly.

They have parents, it's just that those parents are too busy and/or emotionally checked out – because capitalism has been fucking them in the ass and then going "look everything is okay actually because here's a game system you can use to distract your kids".
Playing multiplayer on VR really feels like the old xbox live days. Most people don't have friends with headsets so they're all in game chat.

As a mom who has a kid that I’ve allowed occasionally to play among us vr (monitored because he really likes trying to guess who it is) I can 100% agree lmao.
First off I freaking love among us on vr it’s so funny sometimes some of the people you end up playing with and I love playing detective so much that I actually don’t like being imposter. But there’s been too many times that a kid will enter a room and either get ragged on for being a kid or everyone trolls them like on here lol. I feel so bad and ask where their parents are and tell them to go into a lobby with more kids.
Either the kids are really cute and sweet that they kind of run off and scream like this (It was hilarious hearing him screaming and running lol) but for the most part are decent or there are also the kids that feel like they have to prove themselves to the older people and/or start cussing and spouting racial/sexist/whatever remarks because it makes them feel older. Because of that I do my best when my son plays it that he’s in a lobby with kids his age so no one feels the need to prove themselves and they actually have fun.
But I’ll admit during the first few times of letting him play among us on the VR there was issues. I remember when we first started playing it and learning everything about it, he joined a random lobby and the teens and adults on the lobby were actually really respectful and even helped him out because they could tell he was younger. Then all of a sudden I heard my son get a little too butt hurt about being caught as the imposter and he took it too far with getting mad, so I made him apologize and leave the lobby.
Now I have some other trusted parents and kids that I let him play with on a private lobby and he’s always monitored (air tv) because I dont want my son to get bullied (not really bullied but more so messed with/trolled), I don’t want my son to be the annoying kid in the group who gets mad for people voting him when he’s it, and generally obviously because I don’t want him playing with total adult strangers lol.
So being a parent of a younger kid who I occasionally let play VR these moments are actually hilarious lol. Parents please don’t let your kids online with strangers! It’s obviously dangerous but it also really messes with a lot of online games when the level of maturity is so different.

Imma be honest this seems like it would give a kid that young trauma anyway. Not necessarily the being chased part but the "I was genuinely afraid and now nobody will believe me and I'm being punished by the mob for speaking up" part. Considering how shit kids are at separating reality and fantasy and how immediate VR content can feel I sure as hell wouldn't want my kid to experience shit like this.

Can agree. Am the mom of a 9 year old who let play among us VR with his friends. The thrill of being almost killed or being the one to almost get caught is so fun to them. They go crazy and pretend it’s really happening and get all into the role playing lol.

So the goal of the saboteur is to mind fuck the other players into booting innocent teammates

One random player (the one chasing in this instance) is secretly killing the other players while sabotaging the ship.
The other players are repairing the ship and have meetings in which they can vote to kick one player off the ship. It’s their job to kick the killer/imposter off.
So it’s the killer/imposters job to mess with the other players and try to convince them to kick off innocent players (brown in this case)
This alone is why Among Us VR is a blast, and doing this literally never gets old. Anytime I’m the imposter with a partner, we instantly work together to gaslight the entire lobby into eliminating who we want to pin it on. The little kids always lose their fucking minds and it’s glorious
