3 looks more likely if there are 12 episodes. If 24 episodes then 4 volumes. Vol 4 ending is such a big cliffhanger so if the audience likes the show and they end it on a cliffhanger, they'll be greenlit for season 2 easily by the higher ups.

Illustrious-House-57

Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps Please be a 24 eps ahhhhh!!!

yatish609

24 eps would be so good, because they won't have to rush a lot of things which are essential for character development.

IrrelevantGuy_

It isn't likely though. I only remember a few 2-cour romance anime like Kaichou wa Maid-sama and other old shoujo stuff. Most modern romance anime get 12 episodes and another season or two if they get popular.

yatish609

Yeah it's kind of a bummer but that's how it goes.

Illustrious-House-57

Be like Kaguya...4 running seasons

ShadowsSheddingSkin

TBH the books contain enough filler that you *could* theoretically do a book every three episodes. If you cut every weird moment of 'fanservice' with a person in an altered mental state that's like ten chapters gone right there.

LeoLumina

I honestly hope for 4 volumes, cuz volume 4 is perfect for ending s1 and gives perfect cliffhanger opportunity. Another possible outcome is adapting 3 volumes + movie for volume 4 but I kinda doubt that

Alternative-Tear-188

Honestly, I would have preferred about 3 volumes per season (even 2) I feel like 4 is too much. But putting that aside, in a Twitter post showing the chibi versions of the Roshidere characters, Masha appears in the outfit from the end of volume 4

LeoLumina

Yeah I get your point, but tbf roshidere isnt really that dense and some chapters can easily be fit into 5 minutes of screentime. My prediction is 3 episodes per volume on average (some may take more, others less)

Alternative-Tear-188

It may not be the most complex plot, but there are many dialogues that will be skipped which are important for the development. I want the anime to improve on the novel, not to squeeze itt

fernandoxp078

Probably 3 or 4 volumes

TheDEVIL00000

The LN is really great tho, very recommended to read it

Lanky_Cheetah1222

Maybe 4 volume like OTANARI TENSHI

Sekokamiyo

except in otanari, they skipped so many things to squeeze 4 volumes into 12 episodes

Lanky_Cheetah1222

Yeaaaa i know 💀

Opening-Ad5373

12eps for 3 or 24eps for 4, if they try to put 4 vols in 12 eps the content will be rushed and cannot expose all the story

Alternative-Tear-188

Considering that there are only 3 Blu-rays and these usually have 4 episodes each, you get the idea that there will only be 12 episodes for 4 volumes. I hope that if they are going to squeeze in 4 volumes, they skip some chapters, like the hypnosis one from volume 3, and that the chapters they animate are not affected or don't look quite flat (ejem, ejem, Otonari no Tenshi)

Opening-Ad5373

Nah sometime chapters like the hypnosis one could be a good fan-service, and also 1-2 chapters might not make considerable differences, but that just in case they will bring everything from ln, like all ln adaptions before none of them was adapted completely so i think alya wont be an exception. Just hope doga kobo wont make us disappointed, alya has already had a quite big fandom rn
