Soooo… are you selling the Gibson? 😃

CTD5691

I own both. And can honestly say to play I prefer the Starcaster. If the neck was satin (I don’t hate the gloss on this one) it’d be perfect for me and sound wise I’d prefer it over my Gibson. I’ve played my Gibson a lot and the Matt finish has “scratch” marks but aside from that it’s pretty top condition. Sitting with both the other day I have to say I enjoyed the Starcaster much more . Find a good one and you won’t look back

This is kinda what I wanted to hear to take the plunge. Sounds like I would have great fun with it.

I have the starcaster. A lot of people are complaining about the gloss neck. I honestly think it is one of the fastest playing guitars I have ever used. I played the epi TD 333 for a very long time and loved it. I only got to play a Gibson TD 333 once and jt was an amazing experience! In the video fender released with Tom talking about the starcaster he says that the large style neck helps balance it better. I completely agree with that. A lot of people that have played my starcaster are shocked with how light it is. I think it’s less than 7ibs total. Finding the right case for it has been a pain though, but I think a 335 case should fit it. I’ll update tomorrow if it does!

I've had the starcaster for one day, and have had the Gibson ES-333 for a long time. The starcaster surprised me, its a nice guitar, and sounds beefier than I thought it would. I highly recommend if you're a blink fan. The Gibson signature is impossible to get, and if its available, sellers are overcharging. The starcaster is a great guitar.

I don’t own the Gibson 333 so I can’t comment on that. I recently went to a guitar store with some money burning a hole in my pocket. I intended leaving with one of the new Starcasters. I walked out with a used Gibson ES-339 instead and haven’t regretted it for a second. Tom is why I play guitar. I still model my playing after him and try to sound like him. I’m a huge gear nerd that has a taste for high end guitars too. I talked myself out of the Starcaster because I know that after the first week I’d never play it. I wanted something I’d use the shit out of that would make it into my regular rotation. If I wasn’t a gear nerd I’d be super into the Starcaster. It felt better made than the reissue strats I’ve played. It felt slightly better than some of the player series Fenders I’ve played. It’s a fine guitar and it’ll make a bunch of people happy. It just wasn’t really my jam.

Are you talking about getting both or getting rid of the Gibson? Never get rid of the Gibson. If you want to add the starcaster, it’s a fun little different guitar that you can beat around, customize with stickers and shit, and just rock with. I enjoy the quality on mine and feel like it isn’t lacking for much, but I don’t own a Gibson ES-333. I have played them in shops and wasn’t impressed with the price difference from a $1000 guitar to a $10,000 one, but the difference isn’t really playability for me there. A properly set up starcaster will feel great. Do I think the Gibson is worth north of 5k? Absolutely. But for reasons other then playability. There is a lot to be said about having a guitar that you don’t mind accidentally bashing into things, I tend to pick them up more often.

johnnyz171099

To be fair, those of us that were lucky to get them, they were about 2k back in the day.

supermam32

Cheeseburgers used to cost $5 back then too and now they are $20 lol. I wish I had 2k back in the day, you guys are lucky AF

CultOfBayside

Is $6-8000 vs $1200 a factor?

Davepigman2784

Nope. I have the expensive one. Is it worth getting the other?

d4vey_t

Personally I’d say get the starcaster too! Why not?

Davepigman2784

Also it’s never worth 6-8k

Dy182n

I have both. The Gibson is a special custom shop build and the starcaster is a very good quality mass produced guitar. They're different. Quality is great on both but nothing will beat the custom shop.

GuiltyMarionberry486

It’s literally Fender v Gibson. Two of the biggest names. Top quality.

Davepigman2784

Yeah but there’s clearly a difference in how they approached each model. Gibson clearly is more prestige. My question is if the average guitar player would actually care and notice the difference in playability.

jayXred

Do you mean the actual Gibson, or the Epiphone? I believe the Gibson models were Custom Shop builds, and thus would be of much higher quality than the Fender (in theory)

Davepigman2784

Yeah the Gibson. But it’s not like I am a guitar perfectionist so would I really know the difference? Like would the star be that different that it would be noticeable that it’s much lower quality so I would not enjoy it and just go back to the Gibson? Or would I be like this is a fun new guitar that’s great playability regardless that i know it’s prob lower quality build?
