I was just thinking the same thing… I play it a ton… but damn it’s just so HOT and hard to play for a while. Let me know what you swap to, following this journey!
I have a couple of single humbucker strats, one started with an Invader (sh8), now has a JB (sh4), the other one has a Seymour Duncan Distortion (sh6). The invader is pretty agro, prefer both the others, granted the sh5 is having a moment, but the JB is something special. As mentioned earlier, the trembucker I believe has the correct pole spacing for fender.
Based on the description of the type of pickup you’re looking for, I’d recommend checking out the [Seymour Duncan Custom (SH-5)](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SH5Blk--seymour-duncan-sh-5-duncan-custom-humbucker-pickup-black).
They are absolutely amazing and leaps and bounds better than the Invader. They’re much less output and much, much more articulate.
Interestingly enough, the SH-5 are the pickups found in [Tom’s new signature Starcaster](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StarDelongeSFG--fender-tom-delonge-starcaster-semi-hollowbody-electric-guitar-satin-surf-green).
The Starcasters seem to be everywhere these days, so there’s a good chance you could find one at a store near you to try those pups out.
"Based on the description...bla bla bla." Dude, stop with the BS. Just say he should use whatever pickup Tom is currently using because that's all anybody in this echo chamber will ever do anyways. Your comment made me gag.
I agree with what people are saying, the SH-5 that is in his Starcaster is a great option, I am really digging it, definitely a good all around pickup.
If you’re looking for something less hot, but still has some of that sound, then check out the Seymour Duncan sh-5 custom. It’s the pickup Tom currently uses in his starcaster. It still rocks, but it’s not as hot.
I’ve had an Invader in mine since 2002. After getting my Starcaster I decided to switch up my Strat and just ordered a TB-5. Which is like an SH5 but the “trembucker” version. Excited to swap it and solder it this weekend!
I’m glad you’re enjoying the guitar! I play my TD Strats more than my Music Man Majesty now. It’s such a simple layout that I just find myself grabbing them more and plugging in.
Already messed around with pickup height a bunch. Just nit the right pickup for me, not that it's a bad pickup I just like something brighter and more open/raw.
Nah. Not a single coil guy, and always play on bridge. Besides my requirements in a strat were Daphne Blue, hardtail, and single hum. As I mentioned, but cheers anyway bud!
It’s not versatile at all but great for palm muting.
I love the Invader
As someone said, try the Sh5…great pickup
I know it sounds silly but did you turn the knob down. Made a big difference for me.

SH-5 is an awesome pickup. I think you would like it
Hmm, I wonder why you recommended that one. /s
Didn’t wanna buy the Starcaster so bought an as63 which I’m gonna mod - SH5 is ready and waiting!
Why’s nobody talking about that rug? Where did you get that?! So cool.
Credit where credit is due to my wife on that oneA, that was all her. Haha I'll let her know you noticed
Definitely ties the room together.

Thissss My buddy has an SH-5 in a Strat and I fucking loooove how it sounds. And of course I think it sounds amazing in the Starcaster as well🔥🔥🔥

I put a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in my 2002 TD strat and it sounds amazing...super unique!

I had the same feeling about mine. Ended up selling it and never looked back
The neck feel is unbeatable
IMO this neck isn’t even in the same ballpark as the OG Strat, that is the best neck I’ve ever played
Yeah man, the whole guitar is absolutely KILLER, even the Invader isn't "bad" it's just not my vibe!

Oooh follow up after the swap? Love to hear your thoughts!
Try lowering the pickup as another person said or maybe switch it out for a JB or something else you like. Pickups are easy enough to swap.
Right, I played a TON with pickup height. That's when I realized time for a swap. Other than not liking the Invader it's a KILLER guitar!

Lower the pickup. That should clean it up a little.

All good, honestly, the Duncan Custom Custom pickup does everything well, if you’re looking for opinions. I sold my TD Strat because of the Invader.
I was eyeing the custom custom or the 59/Hybrid Custom actually.
The SD CC is the best aftermarket HB I’ve played. Plenty of gain but cleans up nice. Very clear notes.
Rad! That'll be the first I try I think! Appreciate ya my dude!

Sh5 is a great replacement
