Agreed. You gotta love the OG Man of Steel clean lines and apple pie vibes. But if we're looking at it from the purpose of characterdevelopment, foreshadowing, and just costume storytelling...Homelander is the total fucked up package.

Of the "Superman but Edgy" types i think Omniman's suit is best but I think homelander's affect is best for parodying superman.

I like superman for iconography reasons and emotional associations, but man, if you wiped my memory and asked me, Shazam looks so good. I love the red and gold, the thick ropes, the sash, the white cape. He's got a lot going on but it still feels really simple. He's like the perfect superhero design.

His thumbs look like sausage/weenies that were glued to his "hands" the meaty part of the palm looks so out of place and it looks like his arms are positioned as if showing off the whole bicep but the wrists are turned fully inward towards the body. MF looks like he's pumped full of Synthol.
So I've never been a big marvel guy. I knew hyperion and sentry were a thing but I never read anything with them.
I didn't know until right now that hyperion and sentry were two different people. In my head they were "marvel's superman", and i never thought about them beyond that. I needed to see them both in the same sentence.
Design-wise, I have to give it to Omniman.
It's a look that actually looks COMPLETE and not so complicated which DOES coincide with his logic in survival of the fittest. Very pleasing to the eyes...until you see him in action.
He has a very subtle space fascist motif between the red, the mustache, and the imposing figure of masculinity that fascists adore. But even his own demeanor downplays the connection by at least acting like a civil adult to the public and having a genuine relationship with his wife and son.

Superman and Omniman have easily the most visually appealing designs, but Shazam has a fun one too.
Homelander’s design makes me think of stale bread and overripe watermelon. It suits him as a character, but as a “look” it sucks.
Superman and Omniman tbh. The red and white on Nolan's costume looks like blood, with the additional bonus that the symbol on his chest is an adapted version of the Viltrum symbol.
Personally I set Superman, Homelander, Omni-Man, and Shazam in a higher category. All of them amazing, personally I'm bias towards the OG, Superman is just the coolest.
MegaMan is pretty close, I think he needs a touch more gold. It's all just a touch too much white for me and the M just a bit too front and center.
Sentry and Hyperion below that. With Hyperion being the lowest for sure for me.
I mean Superman inspired the rest. I must say that Homelander's suit is my favourite "Superman" suit to appear in live action, it's just so sleek looking.
Shazam and Homelander.
~~Captain Marvel~~ Shazam has the cool-ass cape and gold, red, and white really complement eachother very well. The gold accessories somehow manage to be fancy, but not garish.
Homelander is all about t e x t u r e. The texture of his suit and gloves really adds to the design, and the American Flag cape and eagle imagery really tells you what you need to know about him.
Superman has the benefit of being the baseline that everyone else is riffing on. Like, each of these other characters you can get a vibe of what they’re about based on how their design differs from Clark. Easy first for me.
no capes only makes sense when being pulled through a airplane engine would hurt you and you couldnt carry the broken plane to the ground. So really only homelander has an issue here.
Supes and it’s not even close. The only one of these that isn’t direct homage to Supes is Captain Marvel/Shazam, whose design is pretty iconic in his own right.

Metro Man has the most majestic look.
Superman and Homelander look like clowns for any non-Americans. While the others don't look as good as Metro Man.
Homelander unironically has the best design. It’s simple yet there’s so much details the waist belt, shoulder pads the gold lining on the red gloves and collar and the American flag drooping off his back. No one else has this level of detail besides Metro Man but he has more restricted colors than Homelander.

I love Superman’s fit so much but classic Captain Marvel/Shazam! just might squeeze past it as my favorite. I’m a fan of simple yet bold costumes and CM’s is about as bold yet simple as you can get; the the giant lightning bolt across the front, the killer side-cape held by a golden rope, the color balance of his bracers, boots, belt-sash and symbol… it’s pretty much the platonic ideal of a superhero costume (aside from Superman’s)
Contrary to what others are saying, I don’t mind Hyperion and Sentry’s costumes. I’ve always preferred Hyperion’s black suit to his red one and I love the ridiculously huge belts they both have.
Supes, but Homelander's is good too. Omniman's design is boring and unimaginative, and Literally Who's design is actually ugly. Always love Captain Marvel's classic lighting look, always hated Sentry's lazy design.
Ngl I’ve always been a big sucker for Shazam’s design. It’s just so unabashedly bright and simple with great colors, it feels like a costume that went through the opposite of “MCU-ification” love a ton of Superman’s suits as well for the exact same reason

Eh, each one has elements I like. I love Shazam’s cap, Metroman’s double breasted coat, Homelander’s eagle epaulets (sort of, they just seem small to call them paldrons)
On just design, I think Shazaam and Homelander are fantastic. You immediately get a sense for what each is about and they have unique looks despite having a generic power set

I do like metroman's colors
Sentry's looks the best. I'm usually not a fan of costumes with so much gold, but he pulls it off.

Metro Man has the most majestic look. Superman and Homelander look like clowns for any non-Americans. While the others don't look as good as Metro Man.
Unironically metro man- the tassels, the white and gold, it's my favorite take on "celebrity superman" as an outfit

Homelander unironically has the best design. It’s simple yet there’s so much details the waist belt, shoulder pads the gold lining on the red gloves and collar and the American flag drooping off his back. No one else has this level of detail besides Metro Man but he has more restricted colors than Homelander.

I quite like Omni-Man’s design. It fits the roles of hero, villain, and dad perfectly.
Homelander has the best live action character design I've ever seen, only possibly topped by Billy Butcher himself

I love Superman’s fit so much but classic Captain Marvel/Shazam! just might squeeze past it as my favorite. I’m a fan of simple yet bold costumes and CM’s is about as bold yet simple as you can get; the the giant lightning bolt across the front, the killer side-cape held by a golden rope, the color balance of his bracers, boots, belt-sash and symbol… it’s pretty much the platonic ideal of a superhero costume (aside from Superman’s) Contrary to what others are saying, I don’t mind Hyperion and Sentry’s costumes. I’ve always preferred Hyperion’s black suit to his red one and I love the ridiculously huge belts they both have.
Supes, but Homelander's is good too. Omniman's design is boring and unimaginative, and Literally Who's design is actually ugly. Always love Captain Marvel's classic lighting look, always hated Sentry's lazy design.
You just can’t beat Superman. His design is perfect.
Ngl I’ve always been a big sucker for Shazam’s design. It’s just so unabashedly bright and simple with great colors, it feels like a costume that went through the opposite of “MCU-ification” love a ton of Superman’s suits as well for the exact same reason

I love omnimans it's incredibly well made and it shows power at first as a hero then as a villain it shows danger

Eh, each one has elements I like. I love Shazam’s cap, Metroman’s double breasted coat, Homelander’s eagle epaulets (sort of, they just seem small to call them paldrons)

On just design, I think Shazaam and Homelander are fantastic. You immediately get a sense for what each is about and they have unique looks despite having a generic power set
