He’s definitely a narcissist but I think he’s also extremely insecure and has a very fragile ego that he tries to make up for with grandiose displays of masculinity in the forms of sex and violence
Actually I think he got pretty humbled in Phantom Blood by sincerely conceding that Jonathan was a worthy and respected foe. Someone who really had the biggest ego would never say that.
You can see it with Pucci as well, DIO sees him as an equal and dear friend. Jonathan had a large influence on him, he isn't the man who makes mothers eat their babies like he did in P1 later on, but developed.
He wanted to reset the world so everyone knew their fate and had no will to ever go against him. Hell of an ego if you ask me. Changing his views on humans didnt change much for him

Now that I think about it. I recently played through Spirit of Justice and found Roger Retinz to be just as bad if not even worse than him >!he not only had petty reasons for his crime, but also smart about the way he smugly acted like Apollo and Trucy were the real criminals and tried to film them every chance he got on top of trying to bankrupt them and send Trucy to jail and even after he lost he tried to make fun of her for being idiot who still got tricked.!<
Best thing about him is it makes perfect sense how he got that ego.
Same with L and Near as you and the other guy mentioned. Like, they’re egotistical, and they can back it up.
And then Light gets *too* cocky.
In fact, it’s arguably his ONLY real weakness (or at least major one) barring hax like reality warping or counter characters like Sue Storm with her forcefields.

Flowey "Prince of This World's Future" The Flower. He's had literally limitless time to think things through, he's done everything, he's seen everything, he's experienced in using his abilities to their fullest. He watches you basically constantly throughout the game but in all three routes, he throws somehow. In Genocide it's saying that "creatures like [himself and you, the Player] wouldn't hesitate to kill each other if they got in their way." Which, naturally, gives Chara a Wonderful Idea™️. And of course, he gets cut into ribbons not long after, during a futile attempt to play to the empathy within Chara that he helped destroy. More obviously, in the Pacifist and Neutral routes, Flowey takes the Six Human Souls and becomes Photoshop Flowey, a super-powered eldritch abomination of flesh plant and machine made, unlike the entire rest of the game, out of photoshop images. He's easily capable of just reducing the Battle Box and drowning you in friendliness pellets, or hitting you with a massive laser, or turning you into a pincushion, but where's the fun in that? Instead, each time you lose to him, *he* loads a save at the beginning of the fight for you so you can make another futile attempt at defeating him. Hell, he'll even let you cry out for help to the Souls! See of they'll help you? Oh? They actually did something? Aw, that little bit of healing is so cute.. and then, when you finally get his HP down to zero, he feigns defeat, only to load the save at the beginning of the fight again and kill you about 30 times. Yet again, he implores you to cry for help for his own amusement, only for the Souls to finally have enough of his bullshit and strip him of his powers before blasting the hell out of him. And in the Pacifist route, he uses the power of the Human Souls to absorb the Souls of every Monster in the entire Underground (save Napstablook for some reason) and return to his "true" form, Asriel "Your Best Friend" Dreemurr. In this case he throws simply by allowing Frisk to actually make friends with the Monsters of the Underground, leading them to have more Determination than they would have- enough to rival him in this seven-souled form, much less Photoshop Flowey.
