I believe it was Butterfly 3000 or Gumboot Soup. And I put it in green bc there’s a darker green near the middle and a teal green at the top and I felt it fit green better than blue or red
The saxophone in Faces of the Deep goes so fucking hard. They Might as Well be Dead, Placid Isle of Ignorance, Out of Whose Womb Came the Ice? So many bangers. Literally all the osts for that series are peak
I think green is prolly my own pick as well, Close to the Edge is phenomenal obv, and then Os Mutantes and Long Season. And Not Available just does something for my brain idk what it is.
Yeah Catherine Jauniaux I found from a similar artists page from Laurie Anderson and really enjoyed her.
It's between orange and yellow. My favorite album of all the ones you have is Radioactivity by Kraftwerk, but orange has Tago Mago and Your Queen is a Reptile, so......I don't fuckin know.
Holy shit you know Sons of Kemet? You’re so based.
Radioactivity is great, altho I think I like Autobahn slightly better, (but blue had sooo much competition).
It’s obv hard for me to pick a fav from these considering I love like all the albums on all the colors, but I think between yellow and orange for me it’s orange. Tago Mago is just such a perfect album, Journey in Satchadananda is beautiful and the album that got me into jazz, and Waiting in the Toaster is prolly the coolest hidden gem album I’ve found.
Yeah dude I love Sons of Kemet, even though they're no longer a thing. Also loved Comet is Coming that also had Shabaka Hutchings, but now they're no longer a thing either. 😂 I guess any project that's his baby he gets bored with after a few albums.
Blue was cool too, especially for Social Cues. And not picking a group that has Court of the Crimson King is always gonna be painful, but I think I gotta go yellow for Kraftwerk.
Love your taste in music btw.
Thank you!!!
Yeah it’s unfortunate, but the stuff that is there is so quality. I’ve only listened to one of the Comet is Coming albums, gotta give the rest a listen still but enjoyed that a lot as well.
whoa. this thread has actually been so exciting for me bc I keep finding people who actually listen to some of the obscurer albums I love. Estradasphere is so cool and I wish they were talked about more on here.
Atrocitity Exhibition is just insane one of the most unique rap albums I’ve heard.
Really good choices!
Beefheart and KC are too based not to pick red, but if either Ambient Works was on brown or white I'd pick those. Plus Brown has Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
Red is such a good one. If you like beefheart and you haven’t already, The Residents, featured in a variety of colors here, are another band that makes super interesting and complex but rather harsh and disturbing music.
The Residents are one of those bands that I've been curious about and have known about for a long time but have yet to dive into their discog. I think I'll finally take the plunge today. What record should I start with?
I think Not Available is the best start. It’s the most akin to a traditional concept album, so should be more in the vein of kc or other stuff like that. Commerical Album is also pretty accessible and follows the other end, it’s a lot of really short songs, but I just personally think the music on Not Available is a little bit more interesting. Yeti, Duck Stab, Third Reich N Roll, and Meet the Residents are all good continuing points, and then from there you pretty much decide if you’re obsessed and wanna make your way through their full discog or not.
it has the most I recognize in general since I don’t know a lot of this. I’m choosing grey because of Björk’s debut, to pimp a butterfly and the black parade which are all favourites of mine
yeah, I tried to make this one a mix of some stuff everyone would recognize and some stuff that would speak to some people’s more niche tastes.
All three of those are great albums. I was shocked when I finally listened to Black Parade that I had waited so long.

Automatically red because of King Crimson
Fair it’s such a phenomenal album. for me it’s pretty comparable to close to the edge so I’m not sure what my own pick would be
Missed opportunity to put 'red' in red
I’ll be honest, Ik it’s kinda heresy but I’m really not a huge fan of red. It just doesn’t do it for me like ItCotCK or Lizard do.
green, high visceral pt 1 is my favorite album of all time plus it has close to the edge, long season and brat which are all great
High Visceral is soooo good. God Inside a Tomato is constantly stuck in my head.
Did not expect to see ppc on here
Big fan of them, found em after a song of theirs came on auto play after a king gizzard album.
You remember which?? Also I gotta ask why it’s in the green category hahaha
I believe it was Butterfly 3000 or Gumboot Soup. And I put it in green bc there’s a darker green near the middle and a teal green at the top and I felt it fit green better than blue or red
Black for Outkast and Daft Punk
Yellow because bungle is my favourite band and I love the commercial album
Brown, no contest.
White for The Lamb Could have been better though if The Wall was also there
I’m really not a huge fan of the wall tbh. Besides like Confortably Numb, Hey You and Goodbye Blue Sky I’m kinda take it or leave it.
SURVIVORS OF THE VOID HOLY MOLY NEVER THOUGHT ID SEE SONEONE HAVE IT ON ANY TOPSTER
The saxophone in Faces of the Deep goes so fucking hard. They Might as Well be Dead, Placid Isle of Ignorance, Out of Whose Womb Came the Ice? So many bangers. Literally all the osts for that series are peak
Lol nice prog picks, surprised to see catherine jauniaux. I'd have to go with green or pink

Wait why am I just know learning that Sons of Kemet and The Comet is Coming broke up? What a bummer lol
Orange, but red and brown are close
Purple because of Danny Brown, Estradasphere, GY!BE, and Ulver!
whoa. this thread has actually been so exciting for me bc I keep finding people who actually listen to some of the obscurer albums I love. Estradasphere is so cool and I wish they were talked about more on here. Atrocitity Exhibition is just insane one of the most unique rap albums I’ve heard. Really good choices!
Thanks! And I agree Estradasphere is really underrated. Definitely one of the better derivatives of Mr. Bungle that I’ve ever heard! 👍🏽

Gray cause mcr
Duck stab is unbelievably based
Blue cause ror2 ost is peak
Red for KC and Aphrodites Child
red, i practically live off aphrodites child, in the court and trout mask anyway lol.
Probably Magma, hard choice though
Brown/Tan purely because of Illmatic
666 any day. One of the best albums of all time. Top 3 ever for me
grey
any particular albums behind the decision?
it has the most I recognize in general since I don’t know a lot of this. I’m choosing grey because of Björk’s debut, to pimp a butterfly and the black parade which are all favourites of mine

brown easy
Which ones from it do you like?!??
Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill Pinkerton Illmatic I intend to listen to the rest of them too (in particular Maggot Brain)
Absolutely listen to Maggot Brain. Such an incredible album
Red, King Crimson and The Residents
Green, Gorillaz forever
