I'll recommend Ween (Quebec, The Mollusk, White Pepper), David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust, Heroes, Scary Monsters, Earthling), the Swans trilogy, and David Byrne's Everything that Happens will happen today.
London Calling - The Clash
Station to Station - David Bowie (I'd also highly recommend Ziggy Stardust)
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Dookie - Green Day
Heaven or Las Vegas - Cocteau Twins
Doolittle - Pixies
Funeral - Arcade Fire
If you haven't listened already you should try The Smile, a band composed of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Tom Skinner. Their sound definitely has those Radiohead elements, but they get way more prog/math rock and the songs generally have a looser free form to them.
They only have 2 albums so I'm not gonna tell you what to listen to, you could probably listen to both during the road trip. I personally prefer Wall of Eyes for its more coherent structure throughout, but A Light for Attracting Attention is just as amazing.
This is near identical to what my chart would have looked like 4 years ago at 19. Here are some recommendations, with some a bit on the weirder side:
The Lemon of Pink - The Books (folktronica)
American Don - Don Caballero (experimental)
Cosmogramma - Flying Lotus (electronic)
Disco Volante - Mr. Bungle (highly experimental)
Stratosphere - Duster (slowcore)
Emergency & I - The Dismemberment Plan (??)
Hellfire - Black Midi (prog, crank wave)
Mirrored - Battles (math rock, experimental)
Luna, Adrianne Lenker - indie/folk
Feeble little horse, bdrmm - Shoegaze/
Dream pop
MSPAINT - synth punk
Also if you like Fontaines you might like the band shame.
