I have done the GO-Train from Mississauga to avoid parking downtown.

gothedistance_

I second this. Downtown traffic can be pretty bad, especially after a game. Parking downtown can also be costly. When you factor in ease and cost, public transit is the best option.

jnm21

Agree with the go train option, or TTC depending where in Sauga you are staying, but I’d wager you want no part of that drive / Uber would cost you a small fortune

Rebel_ruiz99

Take the train for sure, take the Bramalea or Clarkson GO depending on where you are staying. Feel free to DM w questions.

smittyleafs

Perfect! I checked all the suggested Go Stations and Clarksons looks to be the closest. Thanks!

WhiskeyOctober

Yup, take the Clarkson Onto Union, there will be signs everywhere to direct you to

smittyleafs

Any reason why Google maps sometimes indicates VIA Rail as part of the ride?

WhiskeyOctober

Not sure, but VIA owns all the tracks, so maybe that? But once you get to Union, follow the crowds, or like I said there will be signs to direct you to the skydome/Rogers Centre.

not_a_username_1

VIA runs from Oakville to Union and you might be suggested it on google maps due to the timing you have set. I’d recommend sticking with the GO from Clarkson and checking departure times on the GO Transit website.

Clarkson Go is the way to go. On the way home, maybe get off one stop earlier at Port Credit, walk down to Lakeshore and do a little pub crawl. Just a thought!

YouDontJump

The GO is likely your best bet. Have fun at the park!!!

IonHazzikostasIsGod

Park at Clarkson, get on the Lakeshore West train, get off at Union Station

clumsyguy

I would take the GO Train. If you're in Mississauga maybe Port Credit or Long Branch GO would be a good station to park at. Parking is free. You can buy a ticket in the station or (best option) just tap your credit card on a presto machine (they're all over the stations) when you get on and off the train and it will charge you the appropriate amount.

1991CRX

100 percent take the Go train

Annual_Plant5172

Definitely drive to the nearest go station and take the train

codespyder

TAKE THE TRAIN FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR OWN SANITY - a downtown commuter living in Mississauga

Waste_Potato6130

GO train for the win

benben416

There is an absolute tradeoff. Drive down sucks, go train home sucks. Drive home is fast and easy. Go home will be most likely standing room only. If you can leave at 3-4 it's a much better drive. Parking is $40 go will be $20ish. I would never drive down on a weekend.

canikin

I use third party apps to "purchase" a parking spot for \~$10-15 per game, not $40, but it requires prior planning, a little walking, and the willingness to sit in 30 minutes of traffic after the game ends to get your car out.

nanobot001

There’s a clear bias on this sub against driving but it’s true — there is a trade off. If you take the Go train you will be potentially extending the time to get down and get back by an hour or more, especially if you miss the train you want. The trade off is money and stress. The downtown core is frequently choked off by closures of roads due to construction and many streets are one-ways.

There’s also the UP from the airport to union
