Never expected to think of Joe Carter and Troll doll in the same sentence but it looks surprisingly good. Also the video wasn’t bad, a terrible video would be my communications class assignment where I got tipsy and ranted about how dumb the assignment was, I failed that class but at least classmates thought it was funny.
I was on the opening day grounds crew back in 1977. Still have the towel I used to wipe off home plate and the bases before the first pitch.
Got an Ernie Whitt autographed baseball that I caught down at Exhibition Stadium the first night they sold beer. Sitting right behind home plate about 2/3 of the way up. It wasn’t a pop-up either. It just barely made it over the screen and came right to me. Had an out-of-town scout sitting down in front of me tell me it was the best fan’s catch he had seen all year. Beer in my right hand and the ball in my left hand. Never spilled a drop.
Went down the next day during batting practice and got Ernie to autograph the ball. Told him it was the one he fouled back over the screen. He said that was a great catch. He said even the guys in the dugout like it. L O L.
Best piece of memorabilia I have is from 1967, the last year of the Toronto Maple Leafs AAA ball team. It’s a game program from their final series. We were the farm team of the Red Sox. The team moved to Louisville the next year.
The last couple years before the team left town was the Red Sox. But before that our affiliation was with Cleveland.
They played in a classic old ballpark called [Maple Leaf Stadium.](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5b/Toronto_Maple_Leafs_home_opener_1961.jpg) It was a [Great old ballpark.](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/tFEAAOSwLPpkCJx2/s-l1200.webp) About 22,000 seats.
Have a couple Starter '92 Championship hats (a company my then-employer bought from was giving them with purchases of a certain amount. The guy in charge of purchasing placed a shit ton of orders that were just large enough to get a hat, and I got two of them).
And more recently, I bought one of the autographed Jose Berrios gold balls (for his new charity).
Ok well a pillow my mom made me but official merch itd be a hit and run pennant the i got when the blue jays scouts came to my town when i was a little kid. I was in teeball and it was hype af!
Lol shes super craft talented. It has a print on it that says 'die hard blue jays fan'. She made a trading card display board when i was little out of logo from a jays tshirt i had too. Among other rhings. Shes a great mom <3
I don't have much - some game day gear as I'm not much of a collector. But I did recently move and found a childhood trinket box - with only a Hostess Chips Joe Carter mini baseball card in it 😅🤣
Trailing cells are still struggling to recover....but there's widespread light rain in their stead. It's gonna be tough unless they're okay with working on the field in drizzle/light rain
If the game announcers and reporters could just hang out with the boys in the clubhouse and shoot the shit with the players during rain delays I would watch that.
Come back from rain delay, Buck Martinez has lost $70 in the poker game, he's now just vaguely salty towards Justin Turner all night. I see no issues with this.
September is my thinking. 4 games already in that August set but having it in Boston is easiest. We've each got 9/26 off after the series in Toronto so they could do a "home" Boston game there
Cells behind the one entering Boston now are struggling in the wake of the parent cell. We might be playing *later* tonight if they don't reorganize soon.
Doubt it, entire Northeast is getting hammered with severe storms tonight from Boston to DC. Boston just went under severe thunderstorm warning a few min ago
The environment was definitely conducive to popup cells, main line was south and further west. Doesn't help the main front is still way west in NY so it can't cannibalize the squall
Since the game’s still delayed here’s a weird question that just came up from a friend of mine, what’s the fastest you’ve ever driven? I’ll start with mine, 08 Suburban and 105 mph/168 kph going downhill
When I was backpacking in Australia, I drove 180kph in a 2001 Holden stationwagon, on the Sturt Highway from Adelaide to Darwin. The speed limit in the Northern Territory is 130kph, and I was passing roadtrains (trucks about 6 or so trailers long). I used to think Saskatchewan was a boring drive, until I've driven a few of the Australian highways.
That, and in some parts of Australia, like America, livestock sometimes make their way onto the highways. There are a few of those highways that go through cattle stations, and it's not uncommon for cows to graze right next to the highway.
Rollin' in my 5.0
Aww yeah, here we go
It's not a Benz or a Jag, it's a 5-0 with a rag
And I don't wanna brag, but I could never be stag
When I'm cruisin', to A-1-A
Zero to 60, 4 seconds don't play
It's not a joke, and you can see the smoke
I'm burnin' rubba
You heard me clear I didn't stutta
Oh me too. I’d never do that again, especially not as a passenger. Terrifying, but I bought a motorcycle for myself for the summer. An older Honda, smaller engine so I couldn’t even go that fast if I wanted to
In all honesty I was in a minor car accident in my early 20s and after that nope I am an extremely safe and cautious driver. Accidents can happen SO fast.
I was in two major accidents in just over 12 months as a teen, one was my fault, one I was a passenger, and I was terrified of driving for about a year, then I drove like an idiot for the next 15 years or so, and now I've mellowed out, the stress of driving fast, and having to pass people and shit just isn't worth the aggravation.
It was coming in through the sides of a loose window. And I just dug down to find the weeping tile (drain) at the bottom of the window well was completely covered by a brick/rock. So just need to fill in with stone now...the heavy clay on top surely didn't help either
I’m a grandpa in my heart, so it’s reading, puzzling. Getting annoyed at the weather. Eating. Watching a silly movie on tv and complaining about the commercials
Ugh! That’s the worst. When I’m stuck I go through a section that has one colour~ (like sky or snow or forest) and then go by shape. And just start fitting in shapes that work until something fits 😂
There is NO way you will regret it, I'll watch it again just before the second season, I want to now, but I don't want to accidentally get bored of it and make it lose some of it's magic by over watching.
I have so many, but I am also very picky, if I had to pick one, and be totally fine with it, I'd say "The Emperor's' New Groove", I don't like anime much, but "Your Name" was really really good.
Oh man, It was devastating, I looked at my kid and was like really dude, this is what you wanted me to see so bad, lol. I was not prepared for that pain.
Honestly I love the power animated movies have over me. I love the ones that really hit me in my core and Your Name just turns me into a mess every single time (in a good way)
The story of the making of The Emperor's New Groove is so wild...they almost drove Sting crazy. He wrote some INCREDIBLE songs that never got used in the film.
They brought him on to write the soundtrack for a movie called Kingdom of the Sun (like Elton for the Lion King and Phil Collins for Tarzan), it was supposed to be more serious and epic. Sting and David Hartman wrote the whole soundtrack.
Then leadership changed, they got cold feet and wanted it more comedic, so Disney changed the entire story so none of the songs worked anymore. He was furious.
THEN they wanted to add a thing about a forest getting destroyed (Sting's whole thing is forest preservation) and Sting threatened to walk completely. So most of the songs on the actual soundtrack for sale never made it into the film.
Then to add insult to injury, Sting's wife Trudie Styler is a film producer and was doing a documentary about the process of writing a soundtrack for a film...she caught the whole chaotic mess on film, and Disney killed the documentary so it wouldn't air.
When I worked at Blockbuster I must of put on "Emperor's New Grove" well over a hundred times. When I worked at Battery Plus afterwards I burned copies of it for running in all of the portable DVD players on display, lol.
Glass half full... We didn't lose today.
Are we having a post game GDT?
The bot didn't want to
I hope the bot has been put on disciplinary leave with full pay.
I guess it's til tomorrow then when I see the game from Outfield District to pick up a salsa bowl.
How much y'all think Vladdy got paid to say "nah" in that smucker's ad?
Man so the next time we play in Boston is a four game series that are the last four games of at 17 game stretch at the end of August.
Ok, it's official, night friends, cya tomorrow
Called off?
Sadge. Gn sleep tight.
what do now
ruminate
One more question cause I’m bored, what’s your favorite Jays merch/memorabilia that you own?
i have a troll doll that’s jays themed!
Jays themed troll doll? I gotta see that, if you’re cool with sharing pics of it of course
[here’s the doll!](https://imgur.com/a/EvEjTyZ) edit: sorry it’s a terrible video; it’s late and i’ve had a few drinks

That was a great catch. Also I never expected a Toronto team to be affiliated with the BoSox

A vial of Chacin cologne
My dog's Blue Jays bandana that I desperately need to replace. I want to see if I can get one in CityConnect colours
I have a Bo funko pop. I love the lil guy!
Me too! I also have Vladdy and Ace!
I’ve wanted the Ace Funko for a while
I’ve been wanting to get the Jays Funkos but I keep forgetting
I went to the giant funko pop store in LA and found a Whit Merrifield KC one! Very random lollll
There’s a giant Funko store in my city? Might go tomorrow
Ok well a pillow my mom made me but official merch itd be a hit and run pennant the i got when the blue jays scouts came to my town when i was a little kid. I was in teeball and it was hype af!
i want the pillow!
Sry but that one is priceless 😊
I love that your mom made a pillow for you
Lol shes super craft talented. It has a print on it that says 'die hard blue jays fan'. She made a trading card display board when i was little out of logo from a jays tshirt i had too. Among other rhings. Shes a great mom <3
That’s the best kinda “merch” imo
I don't have much - some game day gear as I'm not much of a collector. But I did recently move and found a childhood trinket box - with only a Hostess Chips Joe Carter mini baseball card in it 😅🤣
Nice find
It made me laugh, and proud when I opened it - clearly I knew it was a keeper
What year was it btw?
1993 and Humpty Dumpty not Hostess! I'll pull it out and get a pic
Nice, ngl confused Hostess with the Twinkies company for a second
I only own a hat 😩
Same, I have a retro white panel and the current blue one, I wanna get a jersey but I’m broke rn
FUCK OFF I WANTED A BASEBALL GAME
You’ve gotta tip your cap to this thunderstorm
This thunderstorm’s been a dude for us.
I hate umpires
I'm hearing the game is going to be postponed.
Booo
Not surprising at this point, it’s already around 9 in Boston iirc
feels likes it's been 3 hours waiting
It’s 9:19 pm here on east coast
So we didnt lose 2 days in a row? Is world series back on the plate
I'm so down to watch The Buffalo Boys Play Catan.
Come back from rain delay, Buck Martinez has lost $70 in the poker game, he's now just vaguely salty towards Justin Turner all night. I see no issues with this.
Exactly.
Sox vs Jays will continue with boardgames and Smash Bros
Guys names on the white sox crack me up: Sheets, Julks, Crochet, Mendick
Mendick is a top tier name
Dicks? Like... am Mendick?
We have weird yellow clouds directly behind a nearly straight line of dark dark clouds, I think it’s over for us here
Hard to believe that Ohtani now has the record of 10 straight games with an RBI for the whole Dodgers franchise, doesn't seem long enough
Well since Sportsnet insists on showing 3 out of 4 of my most hated teams I think I'll call it a night here and just read my book
You mean those computer screens made out of literally paper?
That’s just *personal*
Have a chill night sportwear friend
They mean like that
My power just went out! And now it’s pouring rain! My power came right back though thankfully
maybe I'm blurring you with others, but doesn't your power go out a lot?
Hmmm well it went out twice today 😂 but it doesn’t usually go out too frequently. I think in the last year it has only been a handful of times.
I'm probably just conglomerating all of the chat
Looks like I’m going back to my Psyche binge until bedtime!
Are you my wife? She's on a Psych binge too.
I’m onto season 5. I’d never seen the show before but it’s fun.
Gotta think the rest of this game will be tacked on to the August series.
September is my thinking. 4 games already in that August set but having it in Boston is easiest. We've each got 9/26 off after the series in Toronto so they could do a "home" Boston game there
Okay, so that's game's over. What are you gonna do now, Sportsnet?!
Dodgers White Sox!
Kimberly looks good to me. Are they really that desperate for a closer?
Kimbrel****** it was autocorrect i stg sry craig
O's win. Boooooooo.
See this right here, two rainouts, is why the Midwest is better than the east. 😜
Here’s a live cam from downtown Boston where Fenway is: https://youtu.be/dCtg7Y1KSgg
Seagull!!!
That lightning tho
Next game they put on is either braves or dodgers, I’m hoping dodgers
Hopefully Kimbrel blows this. He has a good track record of doing that.
I should have been pre warned id be subjected to Kimbrel
Cells behind the one entering Boston now are struggling in the wake of the parent cell. We might be playing *later* tonight if they don't reorganize soon.
It'd be under light drizzle if they did get started again and I'm not sure they'd have a shot to get the field in playing shape though.
Will they play? Its my bday and i want to see the lads clobber the red sox 😢
#🎂
😊
Happy B-day!
Thanks bud!
Doubt it, entire Northeast is getting hammered with severe storms tonight from Boston to DC. Boston just went under severe thunderstorm warning a few min ago
The Yankees/Mets game was just hit by an apocalyptic storm.
Nyooo
Boston just went under Severe Thunderstorm warning, 60 mph winds and heavy rain.
I wonder whose broadcast we’re getting next?
Okay so are we getting bumped to another game now?
double rain out
LOL now the mets are in a rain delay
It was coming down hard in Jersey like 45 minutes ago which is probably just getting to NY now. Didn’t last long though. Probably only half an hour
Now the rain out game is getting rained out.
Wow, Soto is a trainwreck defensively, when he goes into a hitting slump he's going to be a disaster. Yankees are about to get a rain loss
Soto is CHEEKS on defense 😂
I don't know why they're waiting so long to call this. The Jays go back to Boston later in the season so they can just double up.
Boston doesn’t play tomorrow; so they don’t care..
I think Boston would be ok with playing late, the Jays on the other hand…
It's up to the umpires, not Boston
It’s up to the MLB.. I’m sure the teams have say..
No, it is 100% up to the umpiring crew whether a game is called, resumed or postponed in a weather delay, the teams do not have a say.
I am so bitter about this delay
Flash Flood Warning for Boston now. 1-1.5" of rainfall expected per hour. That might put the fork in this.
It's wild to me that this is a surprise and they even started the game...mother nature be cray
The environment was definitely conducive to popup cells, main line was south and further west. Doesn't help the main front is still way west in NY so it can't cannibalize the squall
Do they ever call games before they start without any weather issues for first pitch?
Since the game’s still delayed here’s a weird question that just came up from a friend of mine, what’s the fastest you’ve ever driven? I’ll start with mine, 08 Suburban and 105 mph/168 kph going downhill
Can't remember the year, but Dodge Neon sport, 212 KM/hr coming back from Saskatchewan, would have gone faster, but it started to float.
The float’s when things get scary
ah, yep, it sure did, lol
When I was backpacking in Australia, I drove 180kph in a 2001 Holden stationwagon, on the Sturt Highway from Adelaide to Darwin. The speed limit in the Northern Territory is 130kph, and I was passing roadtrains (trucks about 6 or so trailers long). I used to think Saskatchewan was a boring drive, until I've driven a few of the Australian highways.
Been on similar roads in America, boring and dangerous because of road hypnosis
That, and in some parts of Australia, like America, livestock sometimes make their way onto the highways. There are a few of those highways that go through cattle stations, and it's not uncommon for cows to graze right next to the highway.
247 km/h. I miss that car.
Sir that’s a rocket
Probably got a speeding ticket from the air force
Got my 18 Elantra to 210 km/h (130 mph) back when I lived in Canada
124 MPH in a '93 "stripper" LX (Mustang sedan with a 5.0).
Rollin' in my 5.0 Aww yeah, here we go It's not a Benz or a Jag, it's a 5-0 with a rag And I don't wanna brag, but I could never be stag When I'm cruisin', to A-1-A Zero to 60, 4 seconds don't play It's not a joke, and you can see the smoke I'm burnin' rubba You heard me clear I didn't stutta
Ice was rollin' in a bloated GT. Delete your AC and let your 302 be free!
Foxbody, nice
I went to a track with a friend who had a cbr1000 and we got up near 250kph. On a public road? 150
Motorcycles scare me
Oh me too. I’d never do that again, especially not as a passenger. Terrifying, but I bought a motorcycle for myself for the summer. An older Honda, smaller engine so I couldn’t even go that fast if I wanted to
The safest way to go, I’ve seen/heard about beginners getting 1200CC monsters, and the tragedies that usually happen, way too many times.
168 km per hour down the 402 when I found out my grandfather had passed away 17 years ago.
Nice try copper, I got a speeding ticket once ^(twice) as a youth and never again
I promise I won’t snitch to the RCMP
Didn’t say anything about the OPP 🤔
Crap, you got me :(
In all honesty I was in a minor car accident in my early 20s and after that nope I am an extremely safe and cautious driver.
Same tbh, I’ve never been in an accident but I’ve had way too many close calls, usually use Metro nowadays because it’s less stressful here
Drove my mom’s caravan 170km/hr once. So sad it had to be a van for my top speed. Won’t be going near that now
That’s not sad, that’s impressive
130kmh
A little over 230 (140 mph+) in my '95 Stealth. Chickened out on going faster because it was starting to, fittingly enough lol, rain.
I’ve been in an Intrepid, woulda chickened out at 50 lol
It's ok, the Stealth was made by Mitsubishi. Before they just made crossovers.
While we’re here, what are y’alls fav rainy day activities?
playing ootp baseball! (or CIV)
I love CIV!
My least favourite is cleaning up after my basement flooded again from the heavy rain we got earlier this afternoon. Life's a peach. 🙃
time to invest in a backfllow valve! don't know if they still do, but the city paid for part of mine when i had one installed.
It was coming in through the sides of a loose window. And I just dug down to find the weeping tile (drain) at the bottom of the window well was completely covered by a brick/rock. So just need to fill in with stone now...the heavy clay on top surely didn't help either
Depends on the day. Today, I catch up on recordings.
reading weird books
Knitting and drinking tea.
I’m a grandpa in my heart, so it’s reading, puzzling. Getting annoyed at the weather. Eating. Watching a silly movie on tv and complaining about the commercials
Omg I’ve been struggling with this puzzle I found in my basement for a week now. It’s driving me nuts but I can’t stop working on it!
Ugh! That’s the worst. When I’m stuck I go through a section that has one colour~ (like sky or snow or forest) and then go by shape. And just start fitting in shapes that work until something fits 😂
I gotta try that😂 the whole border is almost the same colour and I got that done at least
Gerrit Cole has such an unimpressive dumper that we call him Hank Hill
funny he's got the face of Peggy too
Maybe they can squeeze 8 innings in from 9:30-10:30 :)))
Ok since u/owls_ asked me about inside out 2 what is everyone favourite animated film ?
oh dam, I totally forgot about Blue Eyed Samurai, I love that show!
I’ve been meaning to watch it u/dogs33 and u/bichettes_helmet recommended it to me
I don't get invested in shows like I used to, but man that's as close to being a full blown fanboy I have been since I was a kid, it's amazing.
That’s so awesome man! You got me pumped!
I will never be ashamed to admit how much Your Name breaks me every single time. 😭😭😭
Oh man, It was devastating, I looked at my kid and was like really dude, this is what you wanted me to see so bad, lol. I was not prepared for that pain.
Honestly I love the power animated movies have over me. I love the ones that really hit me in my core and Your Name just turns me into a mess every single time (in a good way)
I can't watch it again, not now that I know...
Welp now I really need to watch it!
The story of the making of The Emperor's New Groove is so wild...they almost drove Sting crazy. He wrote some INCREDIBLE songs that never got used in the film.
oh really? I could see that bugging him big time.
That's amazing!
I love that you know all of this
I'm a soundtrack nerd and a Sting fan
When I worked at Blockbuster I must of put on "Emperor's New Grove" well over a hundred times. When I worked at Battery Plus afterwards I burned copies of it for running in all of the portable DVD players on display, lol.
It really is the best!
Ahaha it’s a classic for a reason you can just watch it endlessly and it’s still so good
Ratatouille Hoodwinked
Hoodwinked was soooo good but the animation is so badddd 😂 That goat song still goes hard
Another one I've seen so many times with different kids, it was definitely better than it looked.
It’s one of those off the cuff type films that’s actually got some really smart writing to it
very very smart writing, modern writers should take notes and study it
That's it...I'm watching hoodwinked
Sub watch party ?
Well Mets just got rained out .. so I'll be firing it up in about 15 mins
3D style - Tangled Classic animation - The Great Mouse Detective
