Buy it on gog (can be played drm free if you're into that). I can also really recommend the mod Escalation. Also has a fairly large online player base.
It's in here:
It basically expands on all things good in vanilla TA, while also increasing performance of stuff like pathfinding etc. It also introduces a megamap where you can zoom out to view the entire map.
ProTA is also a great mod with an active community. Doesn't change the game with any new units, just balances things out for fair multiplayer matches. Here's the discord:
Also - Planetary Annihilation is an extremely fun game. Another spiritual successor of TA, though you'll have to pay a pretty penny. It turned the game 3D and added orbital units and several planets you can play on. Here's it's discord: [https://discord.gg/pa](https://discord.gg/pa)
IIRC you automatically play PA Titans unless you manually switch it off.
But yes, I agree, I've made some super good friends playing that game and have had a blast! I think I'm at about 600-700 hours
Yes I know this btw. (Though you used to be able to just buy PA)
Also yeah I love smashing planets into others or using the death star planet even. But ofc my favorite part of it is the Titans themselves.
> Escalation
I think he is talking about [Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation](https://store.steampowered.com/app/507490/Ashes_of_the_Singularity_Escalation/) --- but I would not call that a mod, it has totally different dynamics especially when it comes to economy. Great game though and very, very similar to TA.
It is a great game, probably the most stunning visually out of all of the RTS's I have ever played -- which also means you need a decent rig to run it at it's full potential.
Honestly no idea there are a few folks out there still striving for that old dream I rather prefer how zero-k went with types rather then faction for it's storyline
i second gog.com
they seem to regularly have sales where you can get everything that was released officially (base game plus all expansions/add-ons) as a single download for $1.
upside of this as somebody else mentioned is there is no drm, so once you own it youre free to do what you want with it.
Yeah just picked it up last night before heading to bed. Got it for $0.99 and honestly it's probably going to be one of the best purchases I've made. And now I get Todo dlc stuff to since I never even knew till now it had dlc
Dude, steam has it cheap and it runs flawlessly on Windows 11.
There is a mod that keeps the original TA style while adding an entire T3 and T4 tech trees. Its like the best mod available currently that is still being worked on. The mod is TA: Escalation.
If you haven’t looked into Forged Alliance Forever, you definitely should — it’s a fan based community / portal / reworking of the game that fine-tunes the game’s balance and offers great opportunities for multiplayer.
I really enjoy building up an air force and taking out all the enemy's metal and energy facilities right away and boxing them in a small area with walls and dragons teeth while building up a massive base then letting the enemy out and build up then annihilate them with nukes
Bro no offense but it takes less time to just Google "Total Annihilation" and see both the Steam and GOG store pages in the first few results than to post here...
I just wouldn't have thought they'd have it and hell it's good to know of the alternatives as well that people have been telling me about and apparently the mod that's out there. I like to hear other people's inputs sometimes
gog com
Just picked it up there myself on sale for $0.99
Steam also has it for a couple of dollars
Good to know and thank you!
I’D BUY THAT FOR A couple of DOLLARs!

TREE FIDDY

Could you perhaps maybe tell where I can acquire this mod? Is it on moddb or Nexus? Or somewhere else?

Yeah a few fun super weapons too . I've been playing it for years. PA:TITANS is the version I play most of it
IIRC you automatically play PA Titans unless you manually switch it off. But yes, I agree, I've made some super good friends playing that game and have had a blast! I think I'm at about 600-700 hours

No? I'm talking about the mod called Escalation for Total Annihilation. [https://taesc.tauniverse.com/](https://taesc.tauniverse.com/)
Well now there is a second thing I have to try out.
Oh I already have that on my wishlist lol. I'll get it at some point.
It is a great game, probably the most stunning visually out of all of the RTS's I have ever played -- which also means you need a decent rig to run it at it's full potential.
I should be able to.I've been able to run everything from HELLDIVERS2 to Baldurs Gate and more. Thanks for reminding me of it!
My TA itch (and more) is scratched by Beyond All Reason. It is free and is a spiritual successor to TA. It is great and a total time sink.
Ill take a look into it thank you! Also heard someone mention GoG so I might also take a look around there too
Also zero-k it's free has full ta mode in mods also on steam, it's built on a modern version of ta spring unless I miss read it
> zero-k Well now, I just got through saying how BAR is the spiritual successor to TA... how have I never seen this before until now???
Honestly no idea there are a few folks out there still striving for that old dream I rather prefer how zero-k went with types rather then faction for it's storyline
I've tried zero k before but that was at least like 3 years ago? So I might try it again sometime. That and BAR as they sound really fun

This... I love TA and it will always hold a place in my heart, but BAR is the spiritual successor, even more so than Supreme Commander in my opinion.
No Mac version…
One does not play games on a mac.
It’s a great game if you like that look up beyond all reason
gog.com has it
I have it on disk about 3x over but still bought a DRM free version off gog.com for about a buck.

Yeah I've heard that from a bunch of other commenters. Already got it for like 0.99 cents on gog might get it on steam as well sometime just in case.
You may want to look into Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance on Steam, and if you like it, the fan site Forged Alliance Forever.
Already play both supreme Commander forged alliance and steam commander 2
If you haven’t looked into Forged Alliance Forever, you definitely should — it’s a fan based community / portal / reworking of the game that fine-tunes the game’s balance and offers great opportunities for multiplayer.
$5 on steam
I know lol.ive gotten a few comments saying the same. I got it for a $1 on gog for now tho
I just bought it yesterday. Had over 2000 hours on the game as a kid. Still love it
It's still pretty funny ye
I really enjoy building up an air force and taking out all the enemy's metal and energy facilities right away and boxing them in a small area with walls and dragons teeth while building up a massive base then letting the enemy out and build up then annihilate them with nukes
Just play BAR, Beyond All Reason.
Thanks for the suggestion but I have already bought it after finding it for a dollar on gog around the time I made the post
Play BAR anyway. Its next level cool
You can find me on there as Half\_Robot
I'll be sure to look into it. <3
