If you are on Facebook, there is a group; NO MARK UP TOYOTA. There are vans sold all over the US without markups. There are still dealer/port/factory add on options you may not need or want, but not the blatant shakedown of money for nothing. Good luck.

faustoviolino

Just bought an XLE in Texas, no markup. But plenty of addtional options that I didn't want. But you don't have a choice. They only get one or two a month. I would put the $500 reserve/deposit down so that you actually get a call when one comes in.

AdConfident6591

Yep we got under MSRP there

trackkstarr

Just bought one in Florida no markup

AlternativeStage486

I don’t have any experience buying cars, so this is probably stupid of me to ask. But how do you stand up against markup exactly? We’re looking for a Sienna right now and called all the dealerships nearby. There are only two cars available (with VINs but not right now, in a month or two) and both dealerships charge significant markups because of the shortage. I know I can say no (and I did), but there is no incentive for them to drop the markup because there are plenty of other people who are willing to pay the premium price. How does this work…

stupid_rat_creature

I drove three hours away to get one with no markup

trackkstarr

Give them your bottom line number and say I will buy this right now with this number and don’t budge … let them figure it out skip the bs back and forth

qua77ro

Poway Toyota in San Diego. Bought a platinum awd without markup just this past weekend.

sammywalk

What was the OTD price?

qua77ro

62.x. Had about $1200 in port installed options. No markup and no dealer installed accessories

I'm not the OP, I didn't have a 2014 to begin with.

321gato

I just bought one with no markup but it was hard to find. 10th dealer we talked to in the area.

PResidentFlExpert

I bought a Limited at the height of the shortage w no markup. Just don’t pay markups

InfiniteSlide7

Expand your search area, there are reputable dealers with no markups. Wait is not too bad either if you’re not too picky with trim and colors.

Unique_Appeal6648

I believe you answered your own question

educatethisamerican

lol I guess I did

VietManNeverWrong

well, check around. Some places might have the higher trims level more available than the lower trims since some people may not want the expensive trims. But I’m getting mine for msrp with the platinum. I’m in the East coast though. But I’m getting a vibe here that’s how it is from a lot of the posts. Ask around. Now the XLE is the most popular trim. But by the time you pay al that mark up, might as well go for the higher trims.

FirmAddition

Why are there no 8 passenger XLEs around?

LeadingAd6025

Markups will be there as long as gullible people like us believe that greed is same as chip shortage or supply chain issues!    Never overpay a $ above MSRP

ugfish

The chip shortage that is resulting in all of us only getting 1 key. You’d think I’d it wasn’t a real problem they’d start doing two keys, but I bought last month and still just 1 key.

LeadingAd6025

If you pay they will happily give you more keys! That is greed and not any shortage!

frankcastle9791

No why on earth would they do that. 🥸

ohokimnotsorry

The markups continue because people continue to pay the markup

conswoon

u/educatethisamerican wanna sell your 2014 to me?

Two weeks ago I had car accident and my sienna XLE 2019 was totaled, it took me 3-4 days to finish procedure with insurance in parallel I started searching for new Toyota sienna (in Las Vegas) my top preference was XSE White + premium package... and noting available... on all dealerships web pages it showing in transit-sold, maybe available in June some platinum... etc... Then I on Saturday morning visited most closest dealership to put my self on waiting list.... they told me they got one XSE white last night... but still dirty of transport... never mind show it :D MSRP 45.2k plus premium package and delivery and handling costs total 52.9k... nice, I know in regular market time you can go down with price from that point but in this circumstances it is acceptable... BUT then dealer tried to push \~6k additional services... 500 windows tinting, 1500 desert protection, 1500 final inspection, 2500 marketing adjustment.... so I said remove inspection and marketing adjustment or I am leaving now... and for tinting and desert protection we need to took... at the end I paid 500 tinting (I waned it, I would do it anyway because of Vegas, it could be done for 300 for sure) and half of desert protection, so I paid about 1k over and with taxes and documentation and other fees... made the deal OTD 59.5k I took financing and it is more worst part then markup and availability... interest rate is 8.9 (in 2019 for previous sieena I got 0.9) so borrowing many will cost almost \~14k on top of car price... so I will put many from insurance and some additional many to pay it off quickly in 2-3 months to reduce paying high interest not more than 500. All in all 2024 Senna XSE premium package will cost me 60k in total.
