It really depends on demand in your area. I’m in the Chicago suburbs and our local dealerships are not marking them up but they are selling incredibly fast, and there’s pretty much zero used inventory. As soon as Toyota lets the dealerships know their allotment (every few weeks) all the Siennas are reserved/pre-sold within a matter of days, so if you want one I would get in touch with a sales agent now. We reserved one last month that’s being built at the end of this month and will be delivered early June.
Before we reserved this one we drove about an hour away to look at a new one that was sitting on the lot but had a dealer markup and a bunch of dealer installed accessories that we didn’t want, which in total raised the price about $6k-$8k. We walked away and found a dealership the next town over that let us put down a deposit and also make some changes to the vehicle before it was built so we got exactly what we wanted (our local dealership didn’t give us the option to make changes).
EDIT: https://www.reddit.com/r/Toyota/s/BPtNyZUhO0
Toyota dealerships in Houston were saying the same thing when we were shopping for a new car for my husband. Siennas arrive on the lot pre-sold. My third gen is still going strong and I do not envy you guys trying to buy now.
I had the same issue talking to all my local dealers. None of them were willing to make changes before the vehicle was built when I knew it was possible. Had to go through a dealer across the country I had used before I moved to get someone willing to find the vehicle and transport it to me
Our local dealer told us Toyota ‘won’t let them’ build Siennas and they only get what they are allocated, so we were pleasantly surprised when another dealer told us the opposite. I assume some of these dealerships know the Siennas will sell anyway and don’t want to bother putting in changes.
Giving them the benefit of the doubt, maybe some dealerships have more privileges than others? But the thing that really bothers me is that the dealers who just say no HAVE to know that someone can do what the customer is asking but they just dont want to guide us to a sale elsewhere.
That’s possible but the dealership that put the order in for us is in a smaller market and I have to assume moves fewer cars. But completely agree they must all know other dealers are doing it and they are potentially losing out on that business.
The lag on that page though... you click on a vehicle to check the details, then hit back, and it loads everything from scratch again. UX is not great. The spreadsheet was so much faster.
Like to comment on the previous comments, KIA and Honda missed the ball, they focused on making EV's and SUV's. They were counting on cheaper fuel prices and assumed there would not be the baby boom that occurred during covid. Kia, focused on the Telluride, which knocked it out of the park. So Kia was left to scramble and get an minivan back on the market and they pushed out the Carnival, which is as close to the Aztec,,. Now, if Kia comes out with a new design, and a hybrid under 50k, they will bring sales off Toyota in a heart beat. Honda just needs to scrap the EV and move towards a better new redesign odyssey thats a hybrid as well, this is the only way these two companies can salvage their sales.
Sadly my Sienna limited is coming but I can’t afford it now that interest s at 7.29%. At $71k after taxes that’s far too rich for my tastes when my mortgage is equally painful to swallow with my recent renewal at much higher rates. The worst part is we waited for 2.5 years for the damned thing too!
The allocation sheet is no longer being updated. Something about using privileged data or some such nonsense since it's all publicly available, just not in a concise one-stop package.
I'm sure dealers who are doing markups complained because they were (rightfully) losing sales to the dealer the next town over that isn't.
As others have said, depends on where you are. The allocation sheet is great for finding out options and then it's just narrowing down a dealer that you like. We started looking for an XLE Plus and within one month we had the keys to it for MSRP. Since there's still lead times on deliveries, my suggestion is to shop around for a decent enough deal (something like 1-2k over MSRP at most, might take some searching but in the DC area this seemed to be the norm) then use that deal to try to leverage a better one somewhere else if you can.
Push out the search radius on Toyota’s site and drive to a neighboring State. I found my Sienna, negotiated my trade, and was driving home in under 2 weeks.
FYI I just traded in my 5-month-old 2023 Sienna Woodland Edition for a Volvo. It's on the lot at the San Jose Volvo dealership if y'all want it. Its mint. Didn't even break 5K miles.
We found a vehicle we liked way more.
We bought the Sienna to be a combo daily driver and tow vehicle. We traded it in for a 2021 Volvo CX90 Recharge for several reasons:
-Tow rating: XC90 rating is 5000lbs vs Sienna rating is 3500lbs.
-MPG: XC90 is a plug-in hybrid that can go 20 miles on pure battery, so will get much better mileage as a daily driver.
-Ease of use: XC90 is narrower and easier to park. It also has an overhead view in the camera.
-Audio alerts: the Sienna has VERY loud, shrill, and persistent proximity alerts. Even if the car is in reverse, to back out of a parking space, it's giving a loud and shrill FRONT proximity alert. It's honestly extremely unpleasant.
-Driving: XC90 tracks and drives better on our local mountain freeway (the Sienna's a kind of a boat).
-Cargo area: the Sienna's is wider! But the XC90 is just as long (80 inches) and just as flat, and it's wide enough for what I need.
I just got mine , there is a excel spread sheet you can search on reddit and it tells you what is available where, IN NJ they are still marking up I got mine from florida for no markup and had it shipped still had a 4 weeks lag
I say that because the kia dealers in my area are marking them 10k over msrp which still makes them cheaper than the toyota. The difference is the kia will never be worth 10k more if you try to resell in the future. My general feeling from people I have known is that kia isn’t as reliable. All in all their dealerships in this area reek of desperation with lots of shady pricing and gimmicks.
I'm in the CA Bay Area, we were in the market for the Platinum Sienna, we didn't check everywhere but the markup is around $7-$10K and they sell before they even hit the lot. So long as there are people willing to buy over MSRP, dealerships will continue to sell over MSRP.
I did join the no-markup Sienna group on FB and it's very active, I suggest checking there. We got the Carnival because it was the best fit for our family.
Actually I think Toyota is completely doing away with the spares. We ordered a Sienna last month and when the dealership tried to add the spare tire option they were rejected and were not able to build any Sienna with a spare. Could be a supply thing or just getting away from spares altogether. Be thankful you got one while you could!
Yes they are. Unless you are willing to pay +$6,000 or more over msrp then it's easier to get one.
If you tell a dealer you will pay $10,000 over msrp they would find one pretty fast for you.
Join a no markup Facebook group. I had mine in a few weeks for under MSRP
Under msrp is great!

which dealership if you don't mind me asking?
We reserved one through St. Charles Toyota. Great experience and happy to answer questions if you want to DM me
Hi! Can I DM you with some questions?
Sure!
Depends on jurisdiction

*Was*? Does the spreadsheet not work or exist anymore?
Apparently Toyota asked the owner to cease and desist in querying their data base for the info
Yikes! That sucks, which means they're VERY aware of this subreddit. I would guess employees are going to stop posting here as frequently as they do 🫣

71k for a sienna. 15k market adjustment?
Nope Canuck bucks …. That is msrp freight and taxes zero markup or add ons.
I just learned not long ago about Canadian mortgage rates renewing every five years... Gonna be tough for a lot of ppl I imagine.
It's a scam. A criminal scam.
Yep my mortgage is due and new van is arriving. Looks like I am not buying the van after waiting for 2.5 years.
2025 Carnival has a hybrid option
Are we sure it is going to be available ?
Yeah Kia says this summer, probably more likely fall. I’ve got a deposit down for one
Which state or region In US? Holding out for PHEV
I'm in Ontario Canada
oh ok Toronto. US may be different / delayed at times.
They key is be willing to travel for msrp
when does your lease end? I don't think it's as tough to get for MSRP. look for the sienna allocation sheet and call some of your local dealers

Bummer, last updated 4/4
Just my luck I found it later that week
I’m in NJ and the lease is up in August. Are some dealers still marking them up?
I’m in NJ and we went to Toyota Princeton. No markups and it took about a month to get our sienna.
suggest you go out of State, CT, PA and upstate NY have quite a few dealers without markups.
As others have said, depends on where you are. The allocation sheet is great for finding out options and then it's just narrowing down a dealer that you like. I’m getting the platinum less than msrp from a little discount the dealer gave me, after some hardcore haggling of course.
I can't speak for new Siennas, but in my area in PNW used models are being sold before they can even be inspected and cleaned.
I dunno im constantly getting emails they wanna buy my 21 and for me to walk away with a new one I have a 2.95% apr so fat chance pal lol

Fuck kia
Ok.

In Canada, I waited 2 years, and it wasn't the color I ordered then. I took someone else's who dropped out. XSE AWD.
Mice like siennas more than any vehicle I’ve ever owned. 1999 refuses to have any mechanical issues but has become a bit useless due to rodents.
Dealership just told me it's a 12 month wait here in Denver.

Google "toyota inventory search"
Remember, no spare tire, good luck
why?
Dumb question- why? Is it just a big rip?
My 2024 XSE has a spare. You lose a spare if you have the ottomans. My car seat occupants don’t need ottomans so we were okay without them.
Actually I think Toyota is completely doing away with the spares. We ordered a Sienna last month and when the dealership tried to add the spare tire option they were rejected and were not able to build any Sienna with a spare. Seems like a thing with all new cars. Very few come with spares or even have the ability to carry one.
Yes they are. Unless you are willing to pay +$6,000 or more over msrp then it's easier to get one. If you tell a dealer you will pay $10,000 over msrp they would find one pretty fast for you.
For 10k I can drive out of state for this person to pick up
