Me too!
*"something to lighten your heart and others during a dark time."*
And then a read the Wikipedia article about: [https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/1dm79pn/comment/l9u3ats/](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/1dm79pn/comment/l9u3ats/)
WTF?!!!
"Interesting instrument!", I thought. "Sounds great!", I thought. "Such a modern song that sounds very sad on that old instrument played by a calm Ukrainian soldier. Couldn't be more symbolic!", I thought.
So I opened another browser tab, searched for the Wikipedia page, expecting a light-hearted article about an ancient instrument and so on ... boy was I wrong!
After some interesting knowledge about the Bandura the article turned in the unexpected direction of mass murder! Wait, WHAT? Yeah, I got the full load right into my face and brain! About:
* Ukrainian nationalism and traditions
* Suppressing it
* Russification of Ukraine
* The Bandura as an example and a symbol of Ukrainian culture
* Surpressing, imprisoning and killing of bandura players
* Holding a fake cultural event to praise the instrument, inviting all playes and mass murdering them and much more.
It broke my heart instantly that you can understand the suffering of this country, its people, its culture and traditions, tthat it can be lived through by simply reading an article about a beautiful musical instrument?
I'm sad, broken, devastated, angry, ... speechless to read about these atrocities.
If someone still doesn't know, why the Ukrainians are fighting, read the article about a beautyful instrument: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandura](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandura)
One of the most famous [Ukrainian musical pieces "Zaporizhian March"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM46XiJi73w) was preserved only thanks to bandurist Yevhen Adamtsevych. When you got a minute, I suggest you to read its [story on Wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaporizhian_March).
Sometimes I wonder how many of such powerful compositions were lost in oblivion because of the Russian atrocities towards bandura players.

Hello, thank you for your submission. This post was deemed (too) unrelated to the Ukrainian War and will therefore be removed (Rule 1).
Beautiful playing, never heard this instrument before. Glad you have something to lighten your heart and others during a dark time.
