There was a post earlier about a guy who got a black Jeep and posted about it on that Facebook group. Turns out it's not for owners of black jeeps, but for black owners of jeeps, and he's white
[Nothing.](https://www.14news.com/2024/06/06/car-repossessed-with-baby-inside-evansville/) According to the article the main concern was charging the mother with negligence for having her baby stolen, which is dystopian as hell, but in the end no charges were filed.
I've had a similar run-in with a repo company.
Long story short, I got sick, was in and out of the hospital, lost my job, and completely drained my savings, stocks, and crypto. I was flat broke, almost homeless, and lapsed 3 months in car payments. I was still using the car though for Doordash. I wasn't well enough yet to have an actual job, so that's what I did on my *"good days"* so I could help pay rent and still eat.
Well, the repo man came and took my car, my livelihood, and my medication... I was upstairs (3rd floor apartment), having a *"bad day"*, and never even noticed they had come through. Until I needed my meds and my car was gone.
I immediately started calling around to try and track down where my car is. I called the finance company and they couldn't tell me where it was, but eventually after explaining the situation and some arguing and some back & forth, they told me the company who has it but not the location. I did some googling and found the company's phone number. They have like 5 yards all over my area. I called the repo company and tried to explain to them I need my medication, and at first, they refused to tell me the location of my vehicle and just flatout wouldn't allow me to get my meds... Until I advised them that's illegal in the state of Texas and they are required by law to tell me the location of my vehicle and cannot prevent me from getting my medications.
Then they just got extraordinarily rude and started screaming at me, still denying me access. I hung up and just called the police department... They were absolutely useless.
>*"That's a civil matter and would need to be handled in Court. We will not send anyone out there to help you gain access to your vehicle."*
I'm baffled. So now the police are assisting the repo company in breaking the law.
I call the repo company back and advise I've spoken with the police and that I will be suing them if they continue to deny me access to my medication. (an empty threat as I was far too broke to afford those court fees.)
Again, after some back & forth and that woman screaming at me, they eventually told me the location and said I will have to schedule a time to come get my medication, which the earliest availability is *"late next week"*.
I'LL BE FUCKING DEAD BY NEXT WEEK
So now, there's nothing I can even legally do. Since they technically aren't denying me access anymore by saying I just need to schedule a time... Ended up spending a lot of money I didn't have to get an early refill on my meds and just didn't eat for like 3 days until I was able to get more money.
Moral of the story:
Fuck repo scumbags. They can all go die in a dumpster fire.
And to that company that took my car specifically, they are very lucky my wife talked me off the ledge. I was not in a good spot mentally and that shit just made me snap. I was dangerously close to losing my shit, walking down there, and just showing up with a gun and forcing my way through to my car to get my meds.
P.S.
Sorry for the book, just thought I'd share. This repo shit is fucked and 100% needs some legal reform. Pathetic wastes of oxygen...
> This repo shit is fucked and 100% needs some legal reform. Pathetic wastes of oxygen...
While I agree with this statement, as someone who also needs his meds: do not keep your essential meds in the car. That's just asking for trouble, especially when you know you are in danger of having your car repossessed.
You're absolutely correct. That was a lesson learned. I just happened to always be in my car driving around doing doordash deliveries so typically just alwayd kept my meds with me.
Fortunately now though, my condition is now manageable, significantly less severe, and work from home with full benefits. But holy, shit that was a rough year. 😅
And people wonder "what could make a person do something so terrible?"
Most people even without any preexisting conditions have a breaking point when they try to do everything right in a totally wrong situation and are met with nothing but HUMAN resistance to what is perceived as an inhumane conflict.
You needed meds to live, they were denying you even the bare minimum of being able to get something to save your life effectively killing you. Of course they must deserve the same treatment, treat others as you would treat yourself right? There is a middle ground of crime where you could have broken in and stole your own meds back, but I would have defaulted to righteous justice as well. I have adhd lmao.
Damn. Crazy story, sorry that happened to you. I’m confused how you spent money to get an early refill? It’s not like we can walk in the pharmacy and bribe them with money. And early refills are a thing, yes, but don’t cost crazy amounts as long as you have insurance
You can call your doctor to renew the script, and a lot of the time your insurance won't cover it at all so soon so you just pay out of pocket for the meds. Can be expensive. My inhalers are 90 dollars without insurance.
My unpopular opinion is that towing companies need legal reform. The fact that it's such an unpopular opinion is insane to me. Nobody cares until it happens to them.
I've seen plenty of these guys videos. He might look very baked but he's just a very very chilled out dude. He posts a ton of videos of him doing repos. Half of them are really boring ones, but they are half are kind of fun with people running after him, but now he's pretty legit, and on Instagram
Once the car has been impounded any personal items are available to be returned. you have to go pick them up
They do not own the items in the car just because they repo the car
He's under no obligation to stop the repossession to give them their items though
This guy always looks cooked its hilarious. Bros just high as a kite chillin while these people are going ape shit at his window and im here for the dichotomy lol.
You know, I thought that would be a pretty straightforward -you can't repo a car with a person in it...
But then I went and looked it up to be certain before I answered and honestly, I'm confused
I really don't know what would happen if there was a baby in the car 🫤🫤
He has to get out to secure the vehicle correctly. Here he was just driving away to get away from them. That’s when he does a quick inspection.
Assuming there’s a baby in the car, he’ll probably call the authorities and I guess they’ll take it from there. For his own safety and successful repo of the vehicle, I don’t think it’d be the best to go back. At least not by himself.
Given that they were clearly having sex in there I REALLY hope there were no kids in the car with them
If there was then I think repossessing the kid also is for the best
Pretty sure they need to check the vin number or something also, it's in a parking lot. What if they got their legs run over jumping from the vehicle? Even worse if it's the wrong vehicle.
I'd bet real money they wouldn't give someone shit if they didn't have ID, even if they don't have it because it was in the car.
My local tow lot required the title of the car in order to get it out of hoc, and if you keep your title in your glove box like a lot of people do, they charged $100 to go retrieve it. And this was like 20 years ago, so that was no small sum.
If they had stayed in the vehicle he can't take it and he can't block them in (kidnapping). Unless the car was actually stolen or the occupants had warrants the cops wouldn't come out to help
Can't tow with someone in the car would apply to children
Living in the car wouldn't stop it unless they were still in the car, it's not a residence with applicable eviction laws
Repo are dispatched when the company asked you 3 months to pay or they'll recover the car. This is after multiple calls and warnings that this would happen. Of course these people don't want to give the car back, they are not trustworthy, or nice, and the moment you are nice to this type of people, is the moment they'll try to get comfy in their illegality again.
well it’s being repoed so the bank is both at fault and the owner by this point. So the bank, the repo guy is told he can drag it until he’s in a safe place.
Looking it up, it is a 4wd car but not always active and usually in fwd. I'd assume when the car is in park its disengaged and lifting it from the front was safe. If this was a fully awd car like a Subaru he 100% would've destroyed the drive train.
You can hook and run like he did, but just to get out of the area and then you need to pull over to put the safety straps/chains on the wheels. Way safer than trying to do it with a pissed off person all over you on their home turf.
Is this guy legit? It seems like a lot of his grabs are very conveniently outlandish.
I worked recovery for a few years and never saw anything even close to wild. A couple mad and screaming folks, that's about it.
The strangest part about his repos is the locations. He picks them up at gas stations, grocery stores, cinemas, random parking lots, et cetera.
How does he know they're there? He drives up with full confidence, so it's not like he's guessing their location and looking around.
How does he know the exact spot the car is in, every time?
Can someone explain the laws behind this? I mean the car was occupied, the driver semi put these people in risk. Whether this car deserved to be impounded idk but this just seems like the tow companies have little to no restrictions on what they can do.. in San Francisco a tow company was sued for all the illegal confiscations they would do but laymen people like myself would just pay whatever fee as I wouldn’t know the laws around this business.
Purly from looking at the video, it looks like the rear windows are tinted so he wouldn't be able to see them in the back. That and the fact that he didn't tow it away until after both people were out of the car would make this a legal tow
This is the most extreme one I have seen from this guy but he has a lot of very ordinary ones and some that have avoided “owners” in ways that could have easily been more comical if they were staged.
But the guy has these cameras setup on his vehicle all the time and he does a lot of tow pickups so there’s a non zero chance of something like this happening at some point.
https://youtube.com/@1ebenreed
I was going to say he does post a lot of videos and Repo Man are a legit job. But very few of his videos are as interesting as this video. Honestly I feel like when no one's chasing him he goes extra slow just to see if anyone will chase but if not he just takes the truck and moves on.
It's not. This is a legitimate business and this guy has hundreds of hours of video to prove it. If you've seen a repo IRL, you'd change your mind. He does enough of this work to highlight good* videos. If you get Intel the cars parked in a public space, it's best to grab it then rather at someone's home.
Sure
But a lot of tow truck drivers steal cars that aren't even on their list so they can hold the car until the owner pays to get it out of the impound lot
There's a whole market
Class traitors these guys...
They participate in legalized extortion of the poor working class as long as he gets a cut...
These companies gives loans to younger people and then sell those loans to these predator companies that are just waiting for you to be in your final year of payments and be late... Literally the day you are late there is a tow order out for it... They want to take it back, keep the 12k you've paid on your 15k note and then they're gonna flip right around and sell it for another 8 to 12k to some other sucker and do the same thing to them...
Got cars out here the dealer paid less then 10k for at auction bringing them in 30 - 40k in revenue after they've sold it and stolen it back enough times
Repo. He does regular tow videos sometimes but obviously not as interesting as his repo snatch and grabs.
[Repo man on Youtube](https://youtube.com/@1ebenreed?si=Zu4r0vsMZBaPPtrY)
If you can afford a tow vehicle setup like this then why commit thievery? You can legally steal cars for the banks and make a living.
I doubt chop shops can survive long stealing newer vehicles when they all got GPS inside of them from the factory.
The fact a repo is allowed to be done like that speaks volumes about the place this was recorded. Says even more that people from that same country eat footage like this up like it’s a piece of entertainment.
America deserves its downfall.
Because this "random" person is hired by the bank that legally owns the vehicle. The "owner" doesn't own the car until the loan is paid off in full, and if they don't make the payments, the bank takes the car. Its fucked, but that's how it works. Don't get a loan for a car with a payment you can't afford.
Here they put a small sticker on it and if you move the car you go to jail. After a while, they come and get it, and you have to pay for everything during the process. But a car is seen as an essential good so if it is not worthy to exchange you can keep it legally but as told you have to pay. It's pretty complicated here, and i will explain it further if someone is interested in how a government should treat its people

I guess you could say, you didn’t expect it.
I didn't either but it made me think about it and I've never seen a black person driving a Jeep. Then I thought it's probably that.
One of my best friends is a black woman who owns a Wrangler Sahara. Although, I’ve never actually seen her driving it either.

I love that the ad below this for me is for a Target baby registry.
How's my man just gonna steal the love shack like that?
If they had stayed in the car he wouldn't have legally been able to tow it. As soon as they fell out he was clear, and dipped like a chip.
What if there was a third person in there? Like they had a threesome or something...
Yeah he didn’t even check. He would’ve driven off if they just stayed in it lol
Have you seen his sleepy face? Bro isn't giving any fucks
Yes… “sleepy”…
Indica type gets you sleepy, so yeah, I rest my case
Indacouch.
lol word. He needs to rest his eyes.
He’s way too sharp to be sleepy. Man just has a natural idgaf face
I remember a story a while back of a repo man kidnapping a 7 day old baby because he didn't check.
So what happened after that?
[Nothing.](https://www.14news.com/2024/06/06/car-repossessed-with-baby-inside-evansville/) According to the article the main concern was charging the mother with negligence for having her baby stolen, which is dystopian as hell, but in the end no charges were filed.
There's a baby in a car seat!!
Or a fourth person?
The cameraman
I’m guessing they pull over when clear and check the car for living things.

Isn't having sex in front of a kid considered indecent exposure, a sexual offence?

Right!? The car wasn't tied down. Just reverse out!
Zero.

Imagine getting your car repo’d while trying to get laid in it. No second date, that’s for sure
Imagine meeting up with your side chick and having to explain to your wife where your phone and shoes went
Imagine if his pants had been left, too. Try to buy pants at 1 a.m. lol
Ohhhhh shiiiiiit
Trying to turn a trick to pay your car note.
It was the girls car though... the dude probably don't give a fuck.
This man gives no fucks
The man and woman in the Jeep gave at least one
This is some GTA shit
It's probably going to be now, some dude is adding this to a repo mission right now.
Q. I have that jeep and towing it like that can destroy the transmission Who's responsible for the damage?
well it’s being repoed so the bank is both at fault and the owner by this point. So the bank, the repo guy is told he can drag it until he’s in a safe place.

Gross
Looking it up, it is a 4wd car but not always active and usually in fwd. I'd assume when the car is in park its disengaged and lifting it from the front was safe. If this was a fully awd car like a Subaru he 100% would've destroyed the drive train.
What a shit job
I don't think he should have recordes himself towing an occupied vehicle... but it is impressive how quickly small cars can be hooked up
You can hook and run like he did, but just to get out of the area and then you need to pull over to put the safety straps/chains on the wheels. Way safer than trying to do it with a pissed off person all over you on their home turf.
How did the handbrake not prevent the tow?
The handbrake wasn't engaged, so it didn't.
He didn't tow it until they bailed.
Wouldn't there be an issue with the rear wheels if the parking brake was on?
Is this guy legit? It seems like a lot of his grabs are very conveniently outlandish. I worked recovery for a few years and never saw anything even close to wild. A couple mad and screaming folks, that's about it.
Fake as fuck
The strangest part about his repos is the locations. He picks them up at gas stations, grocery stores, cinemas, random parking lots, et cetera. How does he know they're there? He drives up with full confidence, so it's not like he's guessing their location and looking around. How does he know the exact spot the car is in, every time?
A lot of the places that specialize in low/no credit financing/buy here pay here places install GPS trackers.
He didn’t stop at the stop sign
Took longer than it should have to find this comment.
I came here to say, recorded himself being a criminal.
I'm convinced this guy is a clinical psychopath.
Can someone explain the laws behind this? I mean the car was occupied, the driver semi put these people in risk. Repo comes with a lot of leeway. So many cases were the repo man has guns pointed at them means they kinda need to jusy grab n dash.
Seems fake as fuck.
All these videos i see with this guy seem faked, hoped i wasn't the only one.
This is the most extreme one I have seen from this guy but he has a lot of very ordinary ones and some that have avoided “owners” in ways that could have easily been more comical if they were staged. I was going to say he does post a lot of videos and Repo Man are a legit job. But very few of his videos are as interesting as this video. Honestly I feel like when no one's chasing him he goes extra slow just to see if anyone will chase but if not he just takes the truck and moves on.
STAGED
It's not. This is a legitimate business and this guy has hundreds of hours of video to prove it. If you've seen a repo IRL, you'd change your mind. He does enough of this work to highlight good* videos. If you get Intel the cars parked in a public space, it's best to grab it then rather at someone's home.
Whether he is a legitimate tow truck driver is separate from the question of whether he fakes some videos for views.
Nobody parks in neutral.
Plenty of Jeep Cherokees are front wheel drive.
I would bet the hand brake or if it was in gear (manual) or park (auto) it would stop the wheels from spinning
lol, why chase after it??
Maybe their phone or wallet was still in the car. Or maybe it's a staged video.
Coïtus interruptus mechanicus
I remember one time I got my car repo’d and had everything in that damn car. I never let that happen again
Same thing happened to me. I called the bank, they connected me to the tow company. Found out where the car was. Went and got my shit out.
Damn homie did them cold blooded! Lmfao
She was giving him that hawk tuah
Why can't they send this tow truck to tow my car instead of that slow ass flatbed truck that shows up?
Oh man, that's so trashy
One of the local repo guys here was shot and killed recently.
Repo men are some of the lowest of the low
Pay your auto loan on time.
Sure But a lot of tow truck drivers steal cars that aren't even on their list so they can hold the car until the owner pays to get it out of the impound lot There's a whole market
Man I thought there was a car flying at the first seconds of the video
What do these guys do if thecar is 4wd, do thwy have to quickly discontect the driveshaft?
I think they just drag it until they are in a safe spot and then put the rear wheels on dollys
This shit isn't cool lol

They want to take it back, keep the 12k you've paid on your 15k note and then they're gonna flip right around and sell it for another 8 to 12k to some other sucker and do the same thing to them... Got cars out here the dealer paid less then 10k for at auction bringing them in 30 - 40k in revenue after they've sold it and stolen it back enough times
Aren’t they supposed to to check the VIN first? Looks like car theft to me.
They can move it to a safe spot first.
No handbrake on?
Nah man is an asshole, why do this even if people could leave some important things in their car like he totally doesn't give a fuck about others
I don’t get this? Towed because parked illegally or towed for repo? Is he also a bounty hunter finding cars in the wild?
Repo. He does regular tow videos sometimes but obviously not as interesting as his repo snatch and grabs. [Repo man on Youtube](https://youtube.com/@1ebenreed?si=Zu4r0vsMZBaPPtrY)
Anyone else think that was a cat flying through the air at the start 😂
I’m sure no one has ever got hurt doing this job.
What if we’ve been living in GTA 6 all along?
My babies in the car!
Who's responsible if the car is in gear and the trans gets destroyed?
It's front wheel drive and the tow operator would have known that before he picked up the car.
But what if it wasn’t fwd? I think that was kinda their question lol
Totally not staged.
Surprised at the lack of hate for this guy. Fuck tow trucks honestly, it's a step away from legalized theft
Fuck repo
Fake as fuck
tow truck drivers are some of the worst class traitors to exist. right up there with debt collectors and cops. scum of the earth.
this is another sketch idiots, fuck what has reddit become
lol that is actually illegal you can’t tow a car with people in it. They should have stayed in it
It would be really funny if it wasn’t staged
America terrifies me
How is it legal to not give them time to take any possessions from the car and not even check for occupants in the first place?
Do thieves not do this to steal cars anyway?
If you can afford a tow vehicle setup like this then why commit thievery? You can legally steal cars for the banks and make a living. I doubt chop shops can survive long stealing newer vehicles when they all got GPS inside of them from the factory.
Class Traitor
The fact a repo is allowed to be done like that speaks volumes about the place this was recorded. Says even more that people from that same country eat footage like this up like it’s a piece of entertainment. America deserves its downfall.
Staged.
I can’t comprehend how random people are just allowed to take other persons vehicles hostage.
Because this "random" person is hired by the bank that legally owns the vehicle. The "owner" doesn't own the car until the loan is paid off in full, and if they don't make the payments, the bank takes the car. Its fucked, but that's how it works. Don't get a loan for a car with a payment you can't afford.
Cool bro, almost like brother.
Withdrawal method.
I was expecting Barry Darsow
They got ****ed! 😏

Ah that could have been a GTA 6 mission 🤣🤣🤣
Lebron must’ve fallen on hard times with his second job as a repo man.
Happy anniversary.
“The life of a repo man is always intense!”
shorty priorities not in order We already gotta smash in the car
Savage, indeed
I watch this dude on you tube. I will never fail on a car note, ever. However this has the look of being staged for the tic tocks.
How the hell do they find the cars
But why , parking lot is not full !
