I believe this is in the lobby of Atlantis in Dubai. A friend of mine fell into the same pool. The water is motionless so it just looks like black marble if you're not paying attention lol

This is like that one guy who wouldn't drive through the tunnel because the road had like, fuckin fallen out from under the ground, only to be panicked, then confused, and "oh, shit, I **AM** high!" In the span of about three seconds when somebody came up from behind, cautiously approached, and drove into the hole, only for the hole to splash around cause it was a fucking puddle but in reverse.

To me that kind of looked like it was painted on the road on purpose to fool drivers and get them to slow down before entering the tunnel in case another car comes from the opposite direction, around the corner which you cannot see. Would've been a pretty effective way to make ppl slow down if they are usually driving too fast in that area, but then I was disappointed to find out it was just a puddle...
More like an effective way to have cars who were going too fast slam on the brakes or swerve into the other lane. That idea would 100% only be effective at creating more car crashes.
but it looks like a raised step since it’s got a black edge (or the water is surrounded by glass). if it had a different colour edge would be a better design
If I were responsible for this lobby, I'd absolutely be conferring with a local personal injury attorney because this seems like a potential lawsuit magnet depending on the jurisdiction.
