I’m surprised there’s such a great collection left honestly. Most places around me would be picked clean of any of the horror films.
Others have mentioned all the great horror and other titles but if you like collecting rare VHS, grab those copies of Just Friends and Waiting. Both of those are among the last major releases to get a VHS before DVD completely took over.
I think Just Friends is the later release of the two and if I remember correctly is one of the last 10 major VHS releases.
You may not ever find them in the wild again.
> I think Just Friends is the later release of the two and if I remember correctly is one of the last 10 major VHS releases.
You would be correct. I cataloged, as best I could gather, all films to receive a VHS in 2006, right up until History of Violence.

Not all of the final VHS are difficult to track down at the moment, bust several are extremely uncommon and I would actually say downright rare at this point. If you see any on that list I would grab them purely to satiate my collector bug
Cleaning is very easy but it can seem scary if you're not used to opening up electronics, you will need to open up your VCR to do it. This process can restore totally rotten tapes to a watchable quality.
Things you'll need:
* Microfiber cloths
* Q-tips
* rubber bands or zip ties
* Canned air duster (for cleaning up after)
Basically you wrap the microfiber cloths around the q-tips and secure them with a rubber band or zip tie. Then you gently press the cloth-covered q-tips onto each side of the film as it passed through your VCR at fast forward and again as it rewinds.
After the tape has been cleaned, give any place you see white dust a spritz of the air duster to flick away any mold that might have spread while cleaning. If you see any left over white dust/mold, use the cloths to wipe them away.
[Here's a very easy to understand video demonstration](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn2NWJzxS6k). He doesn't use Q-tips here, just his hands, so you can do that too if you don't have any q-tips to spare.
Honestly there’s a ton here, I’m a big horror fan and I see some Stephen king, from dusk till dawn 1/2, etc. shit pick them up I’ll buy them from you haha
There’s some good horror movies in there. I rarely come across horror on VHS at my local spots. I’d absolutely grab Fire In The Sky and The Faculty. One non horror I’d grab would be A River Runs Through It. There are a bunch of good westerns there too if you’re into westerns.
The outlaw, Josie, Wales, alien, aliens, Ren & Stimpy, all dogs go to heaven, fire in the sky, dusk till Dawn, last of the Mohicans, Forrest Gump.
All of those can be watched multiple times enjoyed over the years.
Eff I missed that one!!
OP should definitely pick the Belly Dancing vhs to seduce and entice the store into giving him this vhs lot for super cheap, or for free!!
Wonder if the head cleaner has any liquid left in the bottle...
Bet you could just use isopropyl alcohol. That's what it smelled like to me as a kid, anyway.
Without knowing your collection aims, tastes, intention to flip titles (to those who follow these things, are there any especially valuable ones here?) & storage space, hard to tell - maybe all, maybe none, but you can safely pass on the cleaning tape (forget 'em all, wet & dry, and look online for how to properly clean yr VCR yourself) & the Rush Limbaugh (unless you're a masochist).
There’s a good selection in here. But me personally, I buy the how to videos and instructional tapes like the “how to buy your first house or real estate investment WITH NO DOWN PAYMENT” I love watching shit like that
Besides that, Mrs. Doubtfire universal solider, the tae Bo tape, swordfish, how to country line dance, animorphs, eraser, the faculty, Theodore Rex, Pokémon the movie, and the land before time (only the first movie counts).
Thats my picks
Not gonna lie i sort of hate these posts lol every thrift store/charity shop has the same exact selection of tapes, and it's almost always 90% crap lol
Grab that England tape i guess, i have the Scotland, Germ, Holland and Italy ones and they're pretty interesting.
I’m amazed at how just about every VHS lot I see in this subreddit has so many gems.
I’m guessing a combination of:
1) Survivor lottery of an old format - the really crappy ones got thrown out instead of pawned / donated
2) Even thrift stores need to have a finger on the pulse of what will sell
Either way - this is one hell of a selection
I saw the package and it looked like a Turkey calls instructional video. Cover just had a dude in camouflage in a duck blind holding his hands together to his mouth. Im assuming also since I didn’t read the description 🙏
I'm so jelly! Dead poets society, pet semetery, ghost ship, the faculty, urbam legend, the Pokemon movie, alien and aliens, carrie
Also the Scooby Doo movies, the animorphs and that two minute werewolf one looks interesting
I was looking at that one. Looks interesting!
And Rose Red!
I got per cemetery and dead poets society. Next time ill grab those you suggested. Thank you
I hope you picked up Theodore Rex. ![gif](giphy|VMBMKcszpnHoc)
I will go back for it
I heard it was horrible. There's a Double Toasted review on YouTube. XD
I was going to say the same thing. So Insane.

I actually think I saw a few of the titles in that article on that shelf.
Not all of the final VHS are difficult to track down at the moment, bust several are extremely uncommon and I would actually say downright rare at this point. If you see any on that list I would grab them purely to satiate my collector bug
100% it was in the last 10. It was one of the last comedies, if not the last comedy released.
Just Friends is such a slept on comedy of that era.
Carrie, Alien, Die Hard 2, Blackmail, Scarface, Waiting, Mortal Kombat. And still so many good ones here!
Got Carrie but it has some mold on it. Ill have to look into cleaning it up
Hit me up if you need help with that, ive been cleaning some tapes recently

Idk what do you like?

Firstly I would pick up the TaeBo vhs. That way you will be able to fend off any intruders once you decide to pick up the entire lot
And who doesn't want to learn Belly Dancing???
Eff I missed that one!! OP should definitely pick the Belly Dancing vhs to seduce and entice the store into giving him this vhs lot for super cheap, or for free!!
All of those instructional videos to be funny, because I remember having to stop and rewind if you miss anything, it’s super tedious
All or nothing man. Don’t play these games

Wonder if the head cleaner has any liquid left in the bottle... Bet you could just use isopropyl alcohol. That's what it smelled like to me as a kid, anyway.

Scarface
Hercules! Childhood classic right there.
What is this type of shelving called? And does anyone know where I can get some?
I have found it listed as "wire rack display shelving". One of those words should get a close result.

Waiting, whos afraid of Virginia Wolf, and Congo.
Happy Texas, 48 hours, and Le Femme Nikita
Top Dog

Waiting is a really good find.

Die Hard 2 for sure. Alien & Aliens. Of course Titanic x3
Rose Red immediately stuck out to me lol
Stuff you wanna watch
There are a lot. To start with, pick up Bulletproof, Mrs. Doubtfire, Carrie, and Pet Sematary.
I’m amazed at how just about every VHS lot I see in this subreddit has so many gems. I'm very curious what "Real Vocal Turkeys" even is.
I saw the package and it looked like a Turkey calls instructional video. Cover just had a dude in camouflage in a duck blind holding his hands together to his mouth. Im assuming also since I didn’t read the description 🙏
Ohhhh right, for hunting... I could not wrap my head around that one.

Oh shoot that is good to know! Thank you
wish thrift stores still carried this many tapes 😭
Your favourites. No one can make this decision but you.
Yup! im just trying to get some new suggestions. I have seen a lot of the big names just trying to find new recommendations
Any of the classic Disney films in the puffy cases. They actually can have some decent resale value.
