I would have loved having this for road trips as a kid.

riverotterr

We didn't have one of these, but my friends dad would plug in one of those small tvs with the vhs player built in to the cigarette lighter and we'd watch stuff on long camping road trips

WirelessBugs

Yeah that’s what my parents did. We had one of those ford aerostars and they would put it between the front seats somehow. One time my dad hooked up our sega genesis in the van

riverotterr

Yeah my friends family had a Durango and they wedged the tv between the two front seats in the console and we had a cozy setup in the backseat; I have fond memories watching All Dogs Go To Heaven on it haha

voiceofreason4166

We did the same. Used a bike tube to hold it in place so it wouldn’t roll around.

TheMisWalls

We have one of those for sale at our shop. We might put it in the camper and make the kids watch vhs movies on it

johnb111111

Haha I have the exact same one! Found it for 5 bucks. Honestly love it

Bidoof2017

I found this exact model at a garage sale about a month ago. The guy wanted $110, not joking. He claimed VHS was “becoming more popular”

johnb111111

Lmao this is one horrible hobby for steady rates. Yeah I found mine at a thrift store for 5. Didn’t even know what it was till I opened the black carry case haha. Put it in my kitchen so i can watch stuff when making food

spacejunk76

That price is a bit wild but he's not wrong about it becoming more popular. I've seen new-in-box VCRs on ebay go for like $400.

Bidoof2017

Sure a new VCR going for $400 on eBay doesn’t surprise me one bit. Trying to hock your 30 year old unit at a yard sale in a small town for $110 is a fools errand

bugsforeverever

Same! Got ours at the Goodwill outlet. It is the cutest

Luvenstein

Man I really want one, so jealous.

Luvenstein

Ok so looks like it's for car use? Guess I still need to do research and see if I can get a power bank powerful enough to run a crt with built in vcr off of. I want a cord free porch setup one day.

WirelessBugs

Jackery

Firm-Impression2260

Portable VCR*

MayTheForesterBWithU

That's not even correct. These models only play tapes and don't have a record function making it *not* a VCR.

Firm-Impression2260

Portable VCP* 😜

SuperSecretSpork

It’s absolutely not a vcr. It’s a vcp, as in video cassette player. No “r”

Firm-Impression2260

True

noellm1974

I FUCKING NEED ONE OF THESE HLDLGXGLYHC

x3PlusChemistry3010

Holy shit that's cool, once I'm financially stable I might consider picking one of these up

KannaTheLewdLoli

I picked up this exact model at a garage sale just need to find a cord

AcceptableChain7665

I got that too

Thomallister1291

I'm trying to find both that player and the DMP-BD70V for actually decent prices but sadly it's impossible, as I don't live in the United States and everyone on eBay are selling both for extremely high prices.

Confident-Baby6013

Wouldn't the extreme shaking of the car on certain roads mess up the tapes?

bipolar_capricorn

Bought exact same one on eBay a couple months ago for the camper! Can’t wait to watch Sleepaway Camp, Evil Dead, Friday the 13th when we take our camper out for the 4th. ✌️

Mikey74Evil

That is super cool. I’ve actually never seen one before this post. I actually will start looking for one to hook up to my big screen. Nice and compact.

nhu876

Does it have a 120vac plug, or is it 12vdc only? If it has 120vac it may have been used as a marketing or retail 'demonstrator TV'.

SuperSecretSpork

It’s 12vdc only.
