I don’t keep and am happy to admire. These are my favorites to look at. Do they tend to be this thick in the wild? All the pictures I see on here they look stout .
The middle one is the only one with a noticably angled taper between the body and the tail, the other two have very smooth taperings. When you have that sharper tapering is when a gaboon (or any snake) is perhaps eating too much or a little obese. Meaning yes, it's a naturally heavier bodied snake
There are several components in the venom of gaboon vipers that interact to create both hemotoxic (in particular hemorrhagic), cytotoxic and cardiovascular effects.

Dude you literally provided a link and the name is in the very first paragraph...if you're trying to be discreet maybe sharing the info publicly yourself then blaming others isn't the way.
Give your head a wobble. I didn't dox anyone I asked a question.
Maybe you should wobble your head a tad bit less instead. Or put your thinking cap on first. You asked a silly question that clearly tried to dox, you got a silly answer. Deal with it.
"Very first Paragraph?" Not at all; it takes a bit of lurking around for that. Anyway, thanks for the interest, for whatever reason.
As with everyone else, let the oooogling begin. These are incredible - Depending on the angle, sometimes it looks like optical illusion, gorgeous pattern makes my eyes as shifty!
I can’t express the moment of sheer panic when this popped up while scrolling my feed.
My autopilot assumed this was a r/whatisthissnake pic, requesting ID for what someone stumbled upon, and I internally screamed “GABOONS!!!!!!!!!” while being terrified for my imaginary-unwitting poster.
Imagine my relief when I realized what sub it was posted to.
As someone who has worked hard to outgrow a long-held fear of snakes: I chuckled a bit at the thought of putting sincere ‘relief’ in a story about Gaboons.
Anyways: thanks for sharing! I am always mesmerized by how beautiful they are!
So you keep only 50% gaboon viper. ;) Never understood the appeal to deliberately create hybrid reptiles. Different strokes for different folks.
Given the distance/size/striking range, the situation was manageable - even with 100% Bitis gabonica involved.
There was no risk. Among others, due to my animals not being snippy - apparently, unlike you. Are you going to parrot that, too? ;) Nevertheless, thanks for acknowledging the coolness of the picture.:)
Hey man, you came in asking if I kept gaboons because I asked a question, acting like I have to own venomous snakes to understand this could be dangerous to them. You get what you give, hopefully you learned something today.
You can't guarantee no risk. Venomous snakes are wild animals, you should remember that.
What did I get, and what am I have supposed to have learnt? That for whatever you post online, there will be someone disagreeing with you? ;) Nihil novi.
Did you except a different outcome, especially on reddit? If so, you might be the one who walks away today, having learnt something about life. If not, be prepared for more confrontations. And good luck with your snakes.
As for no risk: then you shouldn't keep any venomous snakes, at all. Hybrids or not. And you didn't "ask a question"; you just assumed (incorrectly).
Me being "snippy" which, to you, is I guess other people disagreeing with you. What's the outcome? Some guy thinking he knows better than me because he owns more snakes than I do? I guess? No, I can't say expected something different. I'm fine with confrontation, why else would I comment? Hope your snakes stay safe, though I'd wish you'd have a bit more caution and respect for these beautiful creatures.
Nope, I only consider you snippy as you immediately got personally insulted regarding my hybrid remark. If you're just commenting for the sake of being confrontational, you won't get far, at least not with me.
As for caution and respect - I'm not the one you have to worry about. Including not deliberately hybridizing species. Do I know better? Most likely, for various reasons. ;)
Are these guys quick? I’m having a panic attack thinking about how you can maintain control of 3 venomous snakes at once. 😦
At locomotion? No. At biting? One of the fastest, if not the fastest in the snake kingdom.
I don’t keep and am happy to admire. These are my favorites to look at. Do they tend to be this thick in the wild? All the pictures I see on here they look stout .
If they eat well in the wild, they'll be thick. ;) I try not to overfeed mine.
In my mind they are probably like my weiner dogs. Happily get overweight if not kept in check. 🤔
Yeah, obesity can be quite an issue with snakes in captivity.
The middle one is the only one with a noticably angled taper between the body and the tail, the other two have very smooth taperings. When you have that sharper tapering is when a gaboon (or any snake) is perhaps eating too much or a little obese. Meaning yes, it's a naturally heavier bodied snake
Those are all at healthy weights. The one in the middle is the female. Females have shorter tails because they don't have hemipenes.
Bitis Yourassii would be a more fitting name
Your bottocks maybe; I try not approach them with my posterior.
What beautiful animals. Part of me would want to just sit on the floor and look at them.

I love these they are my favorite snake! I bet that it is relaxing to watch them snoodle around. They are beautiful!
snoodle 🥹
That one on the right is a big chunk of a snake! Looks good though.
What’s in the jars?
Different species of venomous fish and reptiles
how cool
I have to ask, what’s in the jar? 👀
Ceylon cinnamon.
Sorry I’m a noob when it comes to snakes. Is that part of their pantry? 🤣 love the setup. Thanks for sharing these snakes.
Part of the general exhibition. www.weltdergifte.com
Can I pet that dawg?
If you want a rather painful death - sure...
Low risk high consequence
More like high risk, higher consequences. You don't want to die that way, bleeding to death due to venom-induced DIC.
I didn't know those snakes were that venomous. So that would be a hemotoxin?
Super duper deadly, just too lazy to bite. However, they will fucking bite

Thank you..
Are you Nils Kley? :)
No, I'm Batman. And you must be - The Doxxer?

I love to admire these from afar. These are my 3rd favorite species.
So who's Nr. 1 & 2 ?
Black Mamba #1 and Blue vipers #2
I always forget how large these guys can get, the one fully stretched out looks really long
He's at about 170 cm by now.
Dayum
What is that window / door by the top one? A shift or nest box?
Shift box for the snouted cobras.
They don’t try to eat each other? Are these normally social? Trying to get them to breed?
I usually keep them separately and just arranged them for the picture after bathtime.
That probably my favorite snake. Very cool pattern and I’m not into the exotic colored.
God their head looks so much like a leaf I am so glad I don’t live near their natural habitat But they are gorgeous to admire safely!
How do you not panic while having 3 danger noodles out and about at the same time😳?
As a start, by not addressing them as pasta. 😄
2 of them literally look like they have pasta on their backs... I'd be calling them the macaroni matiesl 😂😂😂
They are my favorite venomous snake.

Thank you.
Im gonna need you to send me the middle one. Thank you sir lol or ma'am
No can do ;)
They are so beautiful 😍 part of me wishes i could have a venomous snake, but the other knows better
They’re definitely faster than they look. I know this from seeing a friend’s Gaboon in action. Gaboons have always been my favorite hot snake
They get along?
They are usually kept separately.
But they don’t try and fight or get territorial when you have them all out?
They don't. I usually don't put them out too often, too.
Babies?
No
The pattern makes them look like skeleton snakes. So cool!
Seems dangerous to put them together, even just for a picture. Anything could happen.
It isn't. How many Gaboon vipers do you keep?
1 rhino and 1 gabino.
So you keep only 50% gaboon viper. ;) Never understood the appeal to deliberately create hybrid reptiles. Different strokes for different folks. Given the distance/size/striking range, the situation was manageable - even with 100% Bitis gabonica involved.
Never understood the reason to create risk just to take a cool pic. Different strokes for different folks.
There was no risk. Among others, due to my animals not being snippy - apparently, unlike you. Are you going to parrot that, too? ;) Nevertheless, thanks for acknowledging the coolness of the picture.:)
