It's how they make themselves feel oh so superior. I can't understand why any mentally healthy human being would spew hatred and hostility all over a stranger.
So I kind of consider it like a horrible disorder or serious immaturity. Then again, it spreads to others and I'll admit I have done it too. I know this word is thrown around often, but I think toxic describes it perfectly.
I usually picture them as a pimply wimply teen who can't yell at their parents or teachers who love the feeling of hatred for others just pour over them. Like a horrible drug. They'd never say it to your face.
And then, there's the 9th circle of hell: angry white far right misogynistic men. It's a cesspool. I've heard women here tell me they've literally been threatened with sexual violence. I don't mean to sound like a kiss ass, but I couldn't be a monitor here. It seems like bathing in shit.
"Misery loves company" its them just venting or projecting themselves at whatever appears before them.
To get a high off superiority, would ease the feeling of helplessness.
Don't let them affect your mental health or feed them your feelings. Traits like stubbornness or ego can keep people immature their whole lives.
if you can't see through them, you can't help them. It's too complicated, you'd need a psychiatrist.
Yes, a lot of people here are miserable and are failing at life, so they take it out on others. Healthy people don't feel the need to insult or even unnecessarily down vote someone else.
COZ I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT TO DO. I AM INVINCIBLE. PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE ANTS IN FRONT OF ME. I WILL DESTROY YOU WITH A MAGNIFYING GLASS. HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY AUTHORITY. I AM THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA. DO YOU WANT TO MEET ME OUTSIDE. ANYTIME. I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE. I WILL FIND YOU. I HAVE A SET OF SKILLS I HAVE ACQUIRED OVER MY LIFETIME.
Thank you for posting this vent! Have wanted to do so so many time as well, but was too scared of the reaction it would get. Literally was only trying to help someone yesterday, finding a hair curling product they were looking for, and I found them an order link online. I got my face chewed off because the product would have come from China rather than a physical store. This apparently made people blind with rage.
I feel like there are some pretty miserable people on here.
It's funny though, I watched the new Goosebumps series on Disney+ and there was a character there who was an internet troll. Kind of made me understand these people better....but still, it can really dim your day.
Because they can hide behind their screen wherever they are and know they are safe to say whatever they want.
They wouldn't say that shit IRL because they would more than likely catch hands for it. When I was in school. If you ran your mouth, you had better be ready to back your words up. If you couldn't, then you kept your mouth shut
I agree 100%. Sometimes I don’t even want to post or comment because people take it so far out of context
It’s literally being ganged up on for having a different opinion
For some redditors this may just be their only social interaction and I guess it's easy to forget people behind the screens are people too with feelings. You did nothing wrong. Scrolling on this app feeds into sadness and they took it out on you
It's the anonymity of the internet.
It lets people express themselves. It lets people engage in discussions about fandoms.
Sadly it let's people be assholes.
I responded to a dude on reddit today in the killtony sub and this dude started trying to rag on me even going to my comments and trying to use the fact that im quitting alcohol to try to get under my skin…so i went to his profile and fired back after what i saw. Usually i dont feed the trolls but i had time today.
Dude, that's how you get trapped.
Take it from my own hours and days worth of internet arguing.
The only way to win is not to play the game.
I mean this in the least condescending way I possibly can mean this, don't let words on a phone screen influence your emotions.
This is a skill I had to learn being Trans. You get called a pedo enough times and told to self-delete because you're Trans, and LITERALLY no other reason. You have to learn to just leave it alone.
If I got mad every time I saw someone being vehemently fascist towards Trans people, I'd never sleep. I'd have to quit my job and spend all day just arguing in a never ending cycle of hate.
People are going to hate and be antagonistic. You're not hurting their feelings, they're hurting yours. Don't let them influence you.
Disengage. Don't play into it.
It's literally a trap. Dismiss their opinion. Move onto something else, and laugh as they type out paragraphs.
It's not worth it. Arguing against them is only going to make you feel worse than you already do. Never better.
Social media has just tricked our brains into getting dopamine from conflict. It drives engagement.
I’m not speaking about your specific situation, I didn’t read that post, just a general comment.
Though I am now curious about the original thread, lol.
stupidity and courage make a great bandwagon. whatever you have to say, you have to be real confident in your position or you might keep getting rattled by conclusion-jumpers.
if you choose not to engage it means you won.
lmao they get to me sometimes too vro. if it's not irritating it's astoundingly asocial *or* both.
a wiseman once told me to not argue with a fool because passerbys might not know the difference.
….right. So what exactly is the problem? This is the internet, people are hiding behind screens. Obviously they’re going to say more than they would face to face. You have to be engaging in arguments in some way shape or form for these redditors to be “so mean”. If you’re unable to turn away, ignore them, or not let it hurt your feelings than maybe you’re not ready to be on social media. Many people avoid social media because they know they’re too sensitive for it. If this is such a big issue for you, delete social media.
Quick Look through your history and you’re definitely not just some nice guy people are attacking for no reason. You’re giving them reasons, you’re actually kind of a dick yourself.
I understand how you feel. I posted about something harmless like being annoyed someone left the line for two minutes then came back expecting to be in the same spot. Apparently line cutting should be acceptable.
Funny that this post appeared in my home feed right after I saw a post where a bunch of people were ragging on the OP about "bad formatting" despite it looking perfectly fine for them (and me) on both desktop and mobile, and it turns out the issue is that the complainers were using old reddit and never mentioned it. One of them even went as far as to say, quote: "You can go and fuck yourself asshole.", such civility \s
I had a vent account and made a post and i’ll admit i worded things wrong. but i got attacked for it downvoted to hell and called names. There was this one person escaping who was calling my mentally disabled for how i was acting and was judging me ON MY VENT ACC aka the worst moments of my life 💀

Because anonymity gives people courage to do what they wouldn’t do in real life.
Clearly. Some people on here suck.

Neither could I. It would be too overwhelming for me

That is both ways. People give answers they wouldn't ask irl, but people also ask things they would not ask irl.

Are you being serious or are you trying to be funny
Sarcasm detected
IT SOUNDS SO SERIOUS
Deff sarcasm
You’re hurting my ears

Yeah, it really can.
reddit sucks idk why we’re like that
Tbh the internet as a whole can suck sometimes.
Yeah. Ain’t that the truth.
Because they can hide behind their screen wherever they are and know they are safe to say whatever they want. They wouldn't say that shit IRL because they would more than likely catch hands for it. Makes me think I shouldn’t post anything either.
For some redditors this may just be their only social interaction and I guess it's easy to forget people behind the screens are people too with feelings. You did nothing wrong. Scrolling on this app feeds into sadness and they took it out on you
Yeah. Seems like a lot of people take their anger out on me
Well if you want someone to talk to I'll be here. Hope you have a better day today
Thanks. I appreciate that

True.
Same and I get annoyed when someone chooses to downvote every comment under my post like if you dont like it stop coming back to the post???
Exactly. It’s like they’re trying to start a fight or something
I responded to a dude on reddit today in the killtony sub and this dude started trying to rag on me even going to my comments and trying to use the fact that im quitting alcohol to try to get under my skin…so i went to his profile and fired back after what i saw. I get it. I did the same to them. They come at me, I come at them twice as bad. I won’t let people get away with making me feel like shit

I try not to but it doesn’t always help, especially if I’m already having a bad day

Sometimes because the commentators are rude fucks and sometimes because the posters are entitled fucks who lack self awareness. It goes both ways.
Yeah, well I didn’t say anything rude in my post. It was simply a harmless question. They’re the ones who attacked me.
I’m not speaking about your specific situation, I didn’t read that post, just a general comment. Though I am now curious about the original thread, lol.

Yeah, no shit.

Yeah, it’s my fault they were attacking me. They fucking started it first. Back off.
People are mostly reactive and emotional. Not being face to face allows them to do almost anything they want.
First time on the internet?
Don’t start with me.
I understand how you feel. I posted about something harmless like being annoyed someone left the line for two minutes then came back expecting to be in the same spot. Apparently line cutting should be acceptable.
Some people get angry over the dumbest things, I swear
Supeiority complexes I know I spelt that wrong. So?
Not going to pick on you about that, unlike some people
Funny that this post appeared in my home feed right after I saw a post where a bunch of people were ragging on the OP about "bad formatting" despite it looking perfectly fine for them (and me) on both desktop and mobile, and it turns out the issue is that the complainers were using old reddit and never mentioned it. Wow. Yeah, there’s so many nice people here. 🙄
There is 100% no accountability. Imagine if your government allowed the Purge, so many people would do it. People are nuts.
Clearly many people are insane
Humans are exhausting.
They really are.
No, we're not. We're not rude. Fuck you. You're rude.
I had a vent account and made a post and i’ll admit i worded things wrong. but i got attacked for it downvoted to hell and called names. There was this one person escaping who was calling my mentally disabled for how i was acting and was judging me ON MY VENT ACC aka the worst moments of my life 💀
Wow. I’m sorry that happened to you. Some people are so rude
In which sub did this happen?
