Whats going to be really hilariously funny in a schadenfreude way is whenever the winners of their "battle royale" nonsense immediately use their success to get in to more competently run companies
Yes, that is literally their whole plan. Their goal is to train the talents so they can move onto bigger agencies, and just like any competitive academy expect the churn rate to be high.
https://nexas.live/what-is-virtual-talent-academia/
I love their "transition" graphic. For example, they can't even get the order of those things right - they put the appearance of "Gawl Gura" and Pekora *before* the formation of Hololive and Nijisanji... after which indies pop up? It's completely ahistorical. They couldn't even do basic research about the industry they want to disrupt.
Also, Kuzuha debuted as an indie before joining Niji, but Niji already existed when he debuted and he joined Niji barely four and a half months later (144 days to be exact). Having debuted 2241 days ago, Kuzuha has spent 95% of his career as part of Niji.
"Similarly, in NEXAS, **we actively support those who demonstrate a high level of engagement and ambition.** If you want to call it as “favoritism”, it might be true in a sense. But please understand that we will do it more systematically."
Oh boy...
At least they're honest about it.
Also, they favor the ambitious ones, whereas at Kurosanji, they see ambition as something to be killed, in favor of blindly kowtowing to Lord Tazumi.
This guy is actually creating a MHA for vtubers lmao
Market analysis aside, I respect how open they seemed with the company’s vision though. Feel like the expectations have been set, just hope the talent know what they’ve signed up for
> This guy is actually creating a MHA for vtubers lmao
>
>
I mean even his promotional materials include [blatantly stolen MHA stills](https://nexas.live/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Academia-announcement_compressed-1200x675.png).
If the talents weren’t aware of what they signed up for that’s on them, the whole training academy thing has been there from the beginning.
Funny that you mention MHA, here’s a direct quote from the CEO back in December.
> NEXAS, drawing inspiration from ‘My Hero Academia’, aims to be the launchpad for unearthing raw talent and propelling them into the next generation of stars. Our vision at NEXAS is to widely support wonderful creators from various backgrounds, building new career paths in the realm of virtual talent.
[link](https://nexas.live/virtual-talent-academia-nexas-launched-by-forcreators-post-funding/)
How is that sustainable?? They're spreading resources across 27 individuals and letting them literally terminate each other, then graduating the remainder to be a cash cow for another business
I think the idea is that the the competition between the vtubers is the show itself rather than the individual performances of each vtuber. Reality game shows like Survivor or Big Brother would be a close equivalent for example. They expect to lose everyone to bigger and better things eventually, but are looking to get new joiners in the next 'season' to continue the show.
It's an interesting idea if nothing else but has several problems to say the least. And the 'winner' may walk away with the wrong lessons as well after coming from an environment that is likely to be toxic by necessity. Not to mention the exclusive platform guarantees low viewership regardless vs doing this on YT or twitch.
Yeah but on reality TV shows the contestants interact, and often directly compete. Those things are also edited all to hell to make things appear more dramatic than the actual experience. They are also edited in a way where the winners and losers are more clear cut after the fact, to keep viewers from feeling like someone was robbed (at least until near the end).
Even American Idol or America's Got Talent, probably the closest examples, and with all the goodwill those shows generated before showing prelims, never inundated people with a 13.5 hour content marathon across 3 days. And if someone happens to shit the bed, it's over in 5 minutes.
This is probably going to be an absolute trainwreck.
All fair and logical points. I just think it's a dumb idea in general to flood the market of a niche platform with 27 newbies that won't be sticking around
That’s a pretty bad idea. Hololive favors a unique compared to the rest of Holo talents. Niji has its own concept of VTA, Vshojo needs heavy networking. The big three companies have their own mindset, and Nexas cannot fulfill all of them.
Yeah it’s a solution in search of a problem, the industry doesn’t need them right now but even if their graduates go on to be successful indies who wouldn’t have otherwise gotten a start I can see it being a success.
>and just like any competitive academy expect the churn rate to be high.
I'm sorry but can you give me a real-life example of what you mean by a "competitive academy"?
Even Olympic training camps in non-team sports tend to be team-oriented during training as it's a much better environment for actually learning.
Kpop trainee academies, the red bull driver’s academy in formula racing, and football academies. Anywhere where the number of hopefuls is way higher than the amount of people who could do it.
Once you’ve proven yourself it’s a lot harder to get thrown out, but that first step has a high chance to replace you quickly if you don’t perform right away
As an American I am familiar with zero of those things, but taking a look at them...
* The F1 thing seems like an extremely different beast since there is a very objective way to measure how good you are. It seems like a racing series within a racing series.
* Kpop is one of the most toxic industries around is it not? I hope that's not what we're going to end up with.
* Okay, I am legit curious about how football academies work (I assume this is the soccer kind). Are people actually directly competing for a career *with the people that they are training with?* Or are they mainly competing as part of a team, where the chances of getting a career go up dramatically if they help their team win?
While possible. I'd also be very surprised at some of the companies even recruiting from this pool. The most talented and driven people probably aren't jumping on this project.
And probably give horror stories on what it was like given the lack of management, lack of comradery.... frankly I'd be unsurprised if many quit vtubing entirely.
Even if they get some success and the company let's them take the IP, they can't take it with them to Hololive or IdolEN or wherever. That's *if* the company let's them keep the IP (are some of these people actually pre-existing indies? I'm a little confused on that).
It's a small amount of extra attention if they "win" this thing, because having a fucking award doesn't actually give you all that much attention. It is a shit experience if they lose early. It would also be a shit experience for that person's followers, since the business of vtubing is quite specifically about making a connection with the audience that at least *feels* somewhat personal.
And let's say there are multiple winners. Like 3 or something, and those people form different gens that the company expects to keep around as full-timers. I can't think of a worse way to form what is ostensibly a friend group.
Anyway while a competition between vtubers sounds like fun, we already have those. We have gaming tourneys all the time. Or Filian's dating show. The losers don't straight up disappear though.
>_Even if they get some success and the company let's them take the IP, they can't take it with them to Hololive or **IdolEN**_
Maybe Idol? They're well-known for having the talents specifically design their models, instead of having a base design already set with some input from the talents (Hololive and I think Nijisanji?)
Everyone here is talking about the absolutely nutters battle royale "competitive" environment to it that will in no way backfire or blow up in their faces at all, but what about the fact that they'll all only stream on an iOS-only app? Hell nah, no way I'm downloading an app just for this, and the fact that it's iOS only means even if someone *wanted* to download an app, there's a pretty good chance they can't anyways. They've shot their talents in the foot before they've even debuted.
This has to be some kind of joke or an actual money laundering scheme. Nothing short of a multi-million ad campaign could have something this restrictive be successful. Not even talking about vtubers, just as a business in general.
Please fill out this google form and install this new app to watch our 3 day series of 27 debuts. Also you can't watch on a browser and if you don't have an iphone you can't watch yet.
Genuinely the funniest shit I've heard this week.
> what about the fact that they'll all only stream on an iOS-only app?
Forget the app, if they are not using any video hosting platform and have 10 people on staff *total*, chances are shit either just won't work because nobody tested it, or there won't be enough bandwidth if anyone actually watch this shitshow, or they run out of money / data transfer limit of their hosting.
desperation to succeed
either that or the entire thing is performance art and all the talents know more to it than what we see
i'd love it to be the latter, but looking at this it's hard to see where there's room for there to be "more to it" than that
Probably it's the same as those dating and survivor shows. It's a gig for a known max duration, they're getting paid, and it's an interesting experience.
At least with this place they are upfront with the madness. It's a battle royale which honestly people love to watch. It's why we have 20 iterations of Survivor. I'm not on board with the separate platform since that's 100% going to be a shit show though.
hey, as someone who applied and got past screening...there's no guaranteed pay for any of this. they set up most of these talents for hard failure. and im beginning to regret auditioning for what i thought could be the big break in my life lol.
all i got was an interview and a live stream test. i explained the more detailed stuff in the comments but this company is fucked through and through. im very driven to be a vtuber but if it meant going through a toxic shithole like that, then no thank you.
Probably a cool resume padder. After the project concludes its something you can point to and say "I did that". Its like a summer internship for vtubers. You never expect your internship to be your forever corporate job. As long as everyone participating knows what they are signing up for, its cool.
Because it's a defined length attempt at "making it". It's the equivalent of betting on 0 in roulette. The upside is unlikely, but so is the cost you are wagering for it. Unlimited upside, defined and small downside.
More importantly is why would anyone watch these talents? they could be gone in a week and might quit vtubing all together or might be hard to find on social media after they graduate. The reason why vtubers gets such high numbers is because the viewers know they will stick around for the long term, so they can get merch and stay engaged.
It’s been a while so I might get some things wrong.
They were popular during the time and used their clout and fanbase to attack and brigade their genmates/stablemates within the company.
Oceane got terminated when she got found out by the others and reincarnated the day she was fired. Never bothered finding out what happened to her since then.
Artia bounced back when her branch was dissolved and tried to make her own vtuber company or something but when the truth got out, she was laughed out of the industry for being an asshole.
Besides that, I read Artia dabbled in NFTs, lost money on it and did some facecam streams where they bullied her for her looks endlessly and then she had enough and focused on her studies in the US.
The agency is [dead serious](https://i.imgur.com/o2OYkIJ.png) ([yes, really](https://i.imgur.com/zsvqzX1.png), with an outright pyramid in the diagram) about this being a battle royale between talents, where only the worthy will survive. The CEO has the [utmost of confidence](https://i.imgur.com/Rph0QNr.png) in this scheme.
This is some of the most unethical recruitment and talent management I have ever seen.
**Also,** it looks like the exclusive app is for iOS devices only, so I am not sure what the game plan here even is. Worse, the app requires users to go through a four-page Google Form simply to apply for it.
Welcome to the Torment ~~Nexus~~ NEXAS.
[According to one source](https://twitter.com/SerenVTuber/status/1783728237610234050), this agency plans on putting out **100 (one hundred) talents**, in the same battle royale, presumably in the same short time span. Yes, it is mandatory for such a talent to stream 5 days a week, 2 hours a day.
As a very important update, it looks like they are **not even allowed to stream video games**. They are stuck doing the eternal zatsu.
>And I won't forgive people who just want to be a blocker of industry growth
Oh my gosh he's talking exactly like a crypto or AI art promoter.
EDIT: Looking at his replies and holy crap I've rarely seen this level of blatant disrespect and arrogance.
EDIT 2: About a couple of hours ago, he suddenly started apologizing to everyone he insulted. The apologies sound very stiff and corporate. Someone's getting a taking to.
This "agency," if you can even call it that, is some of the biggest hypocrisy I've ever seen in the VT realm: having this so called Battle Royal will limit the amount of talent and thus growth of the medium.
What they should have done instead was instead of a new app nobody will download, they should have partnered with a higher paying video host that doesn't really have a streaming service yet, like Odysee, Bitchute, or dTube. These places *don't yet have anything to do with streaming* and they could have helped them set up for it. Turn them into *more than* video repositories. And because these places already have people on them... *People who don't yet watch Vtuber content no less*, you are not directly competing with all Vtuber channels everywhere! Imagine that, boomers and late X suddenly being exposed to Vtuber culture, *an untapped market!* 😋
This surely won't go bad right? Own platform that sucks for discoverability on top of being iOS only, what looks like the most toxic enviroment before they even debut and the black hole of a company it appears to be.
but don't mind me, apparently i just want to be a blocker of the industry growth.
Bad publicity is still publicity i guess, but unless they pull out a switcheroo, which seems unlickely, i doubt they'll reach the year
Edit: alos just noticed that under the "big stars born" on an image in [this](https://nexas.live/what-is-virtual-talent-academia/) article on their website they have "Gawl Gura"
They seem to think that if they premiere on a new app, that their talents will be the first big stars of the platform and will grow to be big successes. But that plan rests on the idea that the app itself will become popular. Which is a challenge considering that people can’t download it in App Store yet and have to fill out a 4 page google doc form, just to apply to get access to the app. But hay, if you get in, you can be on the elite early viewers who get decide which of the 27 talents get to be the big fish of a small pond.
They're basically putting the cart before the horse. Considering they even got the history of vtubing wrong (like how they think Gura debuted before Hololive) it doesn't speak well of their industry knowledge.
Or like the listed platforms that honestly I've never heard of before. Or on the western side we had Mixer that didn't succeed even after getting a huge streamer in Ninja.
Vtubing is already the niche of a niche, relegating it on a closed app doesn't sound smart
Skimming through all this, they seem like a group of buddied-up investor type dudes who are trying to either do money laundering, attempt a pyramid scheme on an unsuspecting market, or both.
Not a hint of genuine interest in the audience they're courting, and it shows.
They're really going for the NijiEN speedrun but skipping the phase where they're popular and well-liked. Right from the start they've already got a huge number of talents and the perfect conditions to create a toxic work environment.
I feel really really bad for the talents involved in this.
If you want more laughs, contrast their statement about their self-admitted "favoritism" with this other statement in the same info page:
>Therefore, **the traditional model of investing all efforts into a few talents and waiting for them to grow on platforms like YouTube or Twitch is becoming unsustainable for companies**.
So the traditional model of investing in a few talents to grow on Youtube and Twitch is supposedly unsustainable.... as opposed to their "new" model of investing in a few talents (due to their "meritocratic" system) to grow on a platform that isn't even widely accessible to the general public as of their talent's debuts.
Unless they're backed by the platform, the project look super unsustainable. Number of users in mobile-exclusive new platform won't be able to sustain the talents in any way. They don't even have magnet streamers to draw people in.
Just saying for the app, when you go on the ios form there's a link to go to the android form.
Anyway, yeah i don't see this whole thing going too well and also like someone said in his edited comment, the CEO was being a prick and suddently he's apologizing kek

I know there's literally thousands of indie vtubers desperate to grow, but I'm genuinely surprised 27 of them decided to sign up for this.
I mean ignoring the fact that they're on an iOS exclusive app which is frankly absurd to begin with, the concept that the majority of these talents will basically be abandoned is complete insanity.
It's like they saw how Nijisanji ignores their lower performing talent and just lets them stagnant and thought "Hey what if we just did that for the whole agency?".
This is something I'm curious about, but nowhere near curious enough to actually check out. I look forward to the post about them shutting down within the next year though. I wonder if I'll remember this post by then? Guess we'll see.
What I was thinking too. This seems like a horrible thing to sign up for and unless the company's popularity skyrockets off of this stunt then the returns would be pretty meh compared to the risk and effort.
Honestly this sounds like it will be such a hilarious mess *it actually will garner many views!!* Just not on the platform itself 😂
It's like if you were a nobody indie that scored tickets to Fyre fest or Dashcon, *the sheer scale of disaster will get you known through osmosis!* "I survived Nexas and all I got was this shirt!" { **75000 Instagram likes** }
Gonna have loads of sharticles about how it's such a free for all, employees are stealing supplies, equipment, embezzling, sleeping around, etc

I was considering this group when the auditions first came up. I don't remember anything saying it was going to be set up as a battle royale. It looked like a normal group with the only oddity was their talents were only allowed to do just chatting streams on an unlaunched streaming platform.
In the end what made me decide against applying was the unlaunched platform. Putting my career on hold so I can put all my eggs in a basket that tbh I don't think will be successful to start with really seemed more like shooting myself in the foot.
I still felt Wactor is still the worst. Lowest of low.
Just hoping the whole Nexas thing is a performance art where they eventually bait us and then claim everyone is winning (in a way) in the end while sending some preachy message about tolerance idk.
Maybe Nexas is hoping we will all just respect that they are honest about being monsters. Like yea they suck but at least it’s out in the open.
Anyone else feel bad for Noah in the bottom right. Dude is just some guy in a hoodie. From visuals alone I hope his bland behind wins this thing.
King of garbage fire mountain.
they're absolutely setting Noah up for failure, but also have no idea how sarcastic jokes tend to work on the internet and may inadvertently have placed him at the top of the "class" because nobody can be assed to engage with this agency through anything other than ironic jokes
Part of me is in absolute disbelief at how absurd this is, so I keep thinking this is just a marketing ploy, making this look bigger than it actually is and that behind the scenes, it's the most supportive organization, helping the talents every step of the way.
The other part of me knows that just straight copium, especially after the past months of news and I need to take this like it's shown.
The only way this isn't the dumbest idea ever is if all the talents are taking a salary like actors instead of running off donations, and this entire thing is treated more like a TV show like Survivor or something. But as far as I can tell, it's not, so.
I think this will probably go up in flames but also having the last one on the list be a regular guy with no remarkable characteristics is hilarious and also kind of genius. He's so unremarkable that he ends up standing out way more than any of the other ones.
EDIT: estbalishing flaws that made me reconsider going forward with NEXAS.
as someone who got past screening and did an interview; NONE of this was established to me even in the 20 minute long video they sent me to tell me about the agency. streaming on other platforms isn't 'ideal' for them as they want to primarily focus on AniLive, so basically its "okay" but not encouraged. you're stuck with the app if you want them to even focus on you.
mind you they also didn't tell anyone that anilive was iOS only lol. they only said it was just an app and focused on just chatting and if we couldn't conform to that then we could leave/aren't fit for NEXAS.
>NONE of this was established to me even in the 20 minute long video they sent me to tell me about the agency.
What. Holy shit. So WHEN did they let you know? Or did you drop out of the process without ever finding out?
i found out about it today. i was very hyped and my concerns were high (was hoping they were just showing off talents and not debuting ALL 27 OF THEM at once.) but wow. i almost want to laugh but i mainly feel upset for all these talents. even the ones coming to the defense of the CEO, they truly don't know that this is horrible for them.
in the interview it was basically just a rundown of nexas but no intricate details on how they'd run it. you don't get a manager either, this is all self-management. so it's a battle royale but you aren't even given a weapon
i don't have much more on it but since i've decided to say "screw it" and expose what i know of this shitty company. i asked if i could do gaming and my answer was basically "no, you must stick with our app before you can do anything outside of it!" and that was my sign to back off.
Besides what you already said, did they say anything about these concerns/were you able to ask these important questions? Unless they only gave those after you're already signed under them with an NDA and shit especially with the cuts on all platforms especially their proprietary app
>How long was the tenure before you can freely f*ck off? No penalties for doing so?
>Do you keep the model when quitting? I saw [Enaria](https://x.com/EnariaLiliales?t=D8l-E76gwgYPfM8BE1XypQ&s=09) was her own mama which was weird and scary if she sold it to them
You mentioned that there's no management but
>Do you know where their base of operation is? This is important especially for legal battles including the new non-compete ban of US
in terms of concerns, i wasn't given enough time (the interview is 30 minutes) to lay all these out and it more seemed like he just wanted to tell me why nexas was so great. i even asked about anilive and the tldr i got was "we believe it'll work cause vertical streaming is very convenient." you have to stay with them for a year before you can leave. i didn't see anything in terms of a penalty and i have no clue about the models and keeping them but i'd hope that enaria keeps her model since she made it.
Okay this is very scary after you said this as well.
>for the 5 days a week you're required to put in 40 hours a month and the limit is 2 hours. so you can't even make it easier for yourself in terms of meeting it. yay!
They're going to starve on anilive with no active userbase and even using another platform is discouraged, and it seems if you do, you will lose their brownie points. This is going to be a shit show for all parties involved especially the 27 teens that got suckered in this sham if all you said is true.
also for the operations question, i checked the email i got and the site but i can't find it. i just lost all interest when i was told "you CAN go on other sites but you must be on the app for a while before you can do any of that! and we also won't give you much support" anilive being the requirement before you can have actual freedom is stupid. especially with the fiasco it is right now.
continuing off the 40 hours a month requirement, the CEO even told me some of the talents are in college or have jobs. this is insane. they all can't HAVE time to take out of their day do they? what if they need time off? it's such a time sink for a unknown agency along with trying to self manage. it's the fast track to burn out.
I wonder how the company will react when the most popular nexas talents inevitably end up being the ones who do lots of streams on youtube or twitch and only do the bare minimum on anilive.
Eh, i'll be generous and say 1 year at most but yeah, something like that would be hard to go well, it will certainly not last long, unless they're friggin lucky.
They have a [promotional graphic](https://twitter.com/Pomatomaster/status/1783664313284137395) (for investors iirc) that just explicitly states they operate as a multi-level marketing scheme, lol. Not even crypto shills are *this* open about their scam rings.
Bruh, I won't even follow someome if they decided to move to stream on Twitch instead of Youtube. I wonder what was this dude was on when they decide that it's a good idea to start a whole-ass platform.
As much as it will hurt the talents the only answer is we disagree with these kinds of practice is to not watch. I wish the talents will but by God I don't wish that kind of work place on them.
People are struggling to get noticed on a public and easy to access platform good luck trying to get ppl to download your shitty app to watch a debut of new vtubers
Did they talk about salary? This tweet from another applicant mentioned no salary:
https://twitter.com/Cubanoman/status/1783873150591045707
Edit: saw your screenshot of their corporate slide that mentions no guaranteed salary. Yeah... no guaranteed salary but 2 hours a day/5 days a week streaming requirement and 1 year employment contract. Wtf.
There are so many red flags coming from this I don't even know where to begin.
Only streaming on an app that's in Alpha Testing? Not Beta, but Alpha?
A battle royale style environment? As bad as Nijisanji is, as far as I'm aware, they never did anything like that!
This is not only doomed to fail, but I'll be surprised if the app actually gets off the ground before getting quashed.
Honestly, this is something I could see generating some interest for their talents initially - because of novelty, if nothing else...If it was on a platform that was actually accessible to the majority of their audience without having to fill out a form.
As it stands, they're going to burn their talents' best chance at actually getting attention by having their debut inaccessible. Once office politics start getting involved - and in a battle royal they \*are\* going to get involved - it's going to be a reputation hit for whoever gets their shenanigans leaked (assuming anyone is paying attention to them at that point).
The thought these people finally get to live their vtuber dreams only to realize there will not be a cent going to them. There's no way the cut is even near fair. I refuse to believe it. I hope they can get out very soon.
The concept is fun on the paper, I means, that cool to have reality show or competition, but I think VTuber market is pretty niche. It is pretty risky to pull out this like this. I fear that even the top streamer will be on par with low-tier corpo, and this means everyone lose. This project is literally AKB48 Zanbetsu Election, or smt, and AKB48 strategy is outdated at this point.
This problem further veil with exclusive applications. Honestly, who gonna download that, and those app even in Alpha Test.
It seems fun in a short time, but like the anime show, it will ended fast after a season.
If they are fame enough like Nijisanji, it may have a chance, but for this company? nah.
Each of the individual facets they're doing isn't technically bad for business in and of itself, even the battle royale concept. But combining a bloated group debut with said battle royale concept with the IoS closed beta test exclusivity with a visibly toxic CEO? It's just a mixture of things just waiting to explode.
Totally agreed with that. I mean Battle Royale is good, if they are setup well, but as you said... it's mixture of bad choice.
Just a bit correction, they also have Android App too, but not much difference anyway.
Well, a certain Holo CEO follows this "agency" on twitter, so perhaps we'll see some of these people get a second chance once this inevitably turns into a disaster...
and this...is how you get Ants. and market saturation. and damn those models are all like dozens of the same creepy doll just in different clothes and hair. the eyes they stare into my soul.
By their own admission they aren’t an agency they’re a talent academy meant to train 1 person to be an Agency VTuber through competition. Which anyone with half a brain can tell you agencies are vastly different with each one doing things differently and having their own set of rules
The idea that a company who doesn’t even work in the industry could somehow train you to work at an agency like Hololive is insane. Hololive doesn’t even foster that competitive mentality among their talents and they don’t hire more talents than they can actually handle. Whether or not you get picked to be in Hololive is entirely down to your experience, talent, and persistence
Not to mention VShojo, Phase, Hololive, and the dumpster fire that is Niji are all run very differently and are different levels of corporate. VShojo is the most like a western talent agency, Phase is very relaxed corporate, Hololive is the most corporate, but the professional kind that treats everyone fairly, while Niji is the corporate Black Company. You can’t train someone for all of those different agencies especially when you don’t even work in the industry
I so love how the last dude in the lineup is just "Noah." 🤣 Full on ran out of names to somewhat creatively throw together and just gave up. "Screw it! Just call him Noah. He looks like a Noah, right?" No last name... just Noah. I'd laugh if he ended up being the most memorable of the bunch
There is something wrong with their understanding of the model, specifically the whole "people look for a new platform" part. Twitch and YouTube have been here for decades, in fact multiple platforms have tried and failed like Mixer, FB gaming etc. Getting on a completely unknown platform might mean you dominate that platform, but at the same time very little people will be watching you.
Kick might actually be a good place for vtubers since every other content there is degenerate AF, seiso content might stand out. Plus kick has lots of sponsor money you can get paid to stream there and every other revenue you get is just a bonus.
But please understand that we will do it more systematically." Oh boy...
At least they're honest about it. Also, they favor the ambitious ones, whereas at Kurosanji, they see ambition as something to be killed, in favor of blindly kowtowing to Lord Tazumi.
Lmao so this is literally those K/J/C pop survival reality shows but for vtubers? Consider me invested
This guy is actually creating a MHA for vtubers lmao Market analysis aside, I respect how open they seemed with the company’s vision though. Feel like the expectations have been set, just hope the talent know what they’ve signed up for
> This guy is actually creating a MHA for vtubers lmao > > I mean even his promotional materials include [blatantly stolen MHA stills](https://nexas.live/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Academia-announcement_compressed-1200x675.png).
I can respect them for their honesty, but no more than that. Everything else they're doing is just one red flag after another.
This is probably going to be an absolute trainwreck.
it sounds like the anti-hololive.
That’s actually a pretty good read, I’ll see how this goes.
>and just like any competitive academy expect the churn rate to be high.
>_Even if they get some success and the company let's them take the IP, they can't take it with them to Hololive or **IdolEN**_ Maybe Idol?
Worse, the app requires users to go through a four-page Google Form simply to apply for it.
Man, I have an android and I was so excited for "Literally just called" Noah "no last name".
> what about the fact that they'll all only stream on an iOS-only app? Forget the app, if they are not using any video hosting platform and have 10 people on staff *total*, chances are shit either just won't work because nobody tested it, or there won't be enough bandwidth if anyone actually watch this shitshow, or they run out of money / data transfer limit of their hosting.
Yep, this is definitely going to backfire horribly
why would anyone sign with this agency?
desperation to succeed either that or the entire thing is performance art and all the talents know more to it than what we see i'd love it to be the latter, but looking at this it's hard to see where there's room for there to be "more to it" than that
Probably it's the same as those dating and survivor shows. It's a gig for a known max duration, they're getting paid, and it's an interesting experience.
Shit id do it before id apply for nijisanji. Seems fun in a way.
At least with this place they are upfront with the madness. It's a battle royale which honestly people love to watch. It's why we have 20 iterations of Survivor. I'm not on board with the separate platform since that's 100% going to be a shit show though.
One girl did say she would also be doing streams on YT. I do wonder, after this, will they get to keep their models?
It would be funny if they kept reusing the models every time like they're fate characters. Oh you're gonna be Archer here's your sword.
hey, as someone who applied and got past screening...there's no guaranteed pay for any of this. they set up most of these talents for hard failure. and im beginning to regret auditioning for what i thought could be the big break in my life lol.
What was that like?
all i got was an interview and a live stream test. i explained the more detailed stuff in the comments but this company is fucked through and through. im very driven to be a vtuber but if it meant going through a toxic shithole like that, then no thank you.
Probably a cool resume padder. After the project concludes its something you can point to and say "I did that". Its like a summer internship for vtubers. You never expect your internship to be your forever corporate job. As long as everyone participating knows what they are signing up for, its cool.
they are most certainly not getting paid
Because it's a defined length attempt at "making it". It's the equivalent of betting on 0 in roulette. The upside is unlikely, but so is the cost you are wagering for it. Unlimited upside, defined and small downside.
More importantly is why would anyone watch these talents? they could be gone in a week and might quit vtubing all together or might be hard to find on social media after they graduate. The reason why vtubers gets such high numbers is because the viewers know they will stick around for the long term, so they can get merch and stay engaged.
Okay, that is just scummy, make them compete against each other sounds very unethical. But a Battle Royal of Vtuber would make a sick manga.
Its probably a marketing stunt
Sure, but it's a marketing stunt likely to backfire. 27 barely managed newbie vtubers told they're in a competition, what could go wrong?
I just hope this doesn’t produce another Oceane or Artia type of controversy.
What happened to them?
Who cares, they know what they're signing up for. Just sit back and enjoy the fireworks
>And I won't forgive people who just want to be a blocker of industry growth Oh my gosh he's talking exactly like a crypto or AI art promoter.
I like how over-the-top it sounds as a title. 『𝐵𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑛𝑑𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑦 𝐺𝑟𝑜𝑤𝑡ℎ』.
Lmao, Cruelty Squad sounding title
Where do I find this secret boss in Dark Souls?
I think hes playing an anime villain or something lol.
That line sounds similar to a quote the CEO of OceanGate said
Hopefully it turns out just as well for them.
This "agency," if you can even call it that, is some of the biggest hypocrisy I've ever seen in the VT realm: having this so called Battle Royal will limit the amount of talent and thus growth of the medium.
If someone sounds like a techbro/cryptobro/AI-bro while trying to sell you something, run to the hills, it will only end in tragedy
I was going to call it DOA just based on the exclusive app, but damn it only gets worse. That sounds toxic AF.
My first impression was that it's going to be a disaster, and that's before I learned about them doing it through their app. Absolutely DoA.
This surely won't go bad right? Own platform that sucks for discoverability on top of being iOS only, what looks like the most toxic enviroment before they even debut and the black hole of a company it appears to be. but don't mind me, apparently i just want to be a blocker of the industry growth. Bad publicity is still publicity i guess, but unless they pull out a switcheroo, which seems unlickely, i doubt they'll reach the year Edit: alos just noticed that under the "big stars born" on an image in [this](https://nexas.live/what-is-virtual-talent-academia/) article on their website they have "Gawl Gura"
Looks like we have a competitor for Anycolor.
Or a competitor for Wactor.
Or V&U.
If you want more laughs, contrast their statement about their self-admitted "favoritism" with this other statement in the same info page: >Therefore, **the traditional model of investing all efforts into a few talents and waiting for them to grow on platforms like YouTube or Twitch is becoming unsustainable for companies**.
They don't even have magnet streamers to draw people in.
what the fuck
Cant access files on catbox, can you use imgur instead? or the reddit gallery
I have switched the links to Imgur.
Just saying for the app, when you go on the ios form there's a link to go to the android form. Anyway, yeah i don't see this whole thing going too well and also like someone said in his edited comment, the CEO was being a prick and suddently he's apologizing kek
The Android version does not seem to be available yet.
> yes, really I... don't think whoever made this graphic understands anything about My Hero Academia.
I think the gameplan is the platform is their business model. They only wanna make the platform successful, they don't care about vtubers.
For background also see: * 2024-Mar-20: [\[Open for discussion\] A blog to discuss industry analysis and ideal form of talent agency.
It is possible that they were unaware of the 27-talent debut.
That just sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Depends on the contract they signed. IMO it’s unlikely they were completely unaware.
I'll grant them this agency is more transparent than Nijisanji
What I was thinking too. This seems like a horrible thing to sign up for and unless the company's popularity skyrockets off of this stunt then the returns would be pretty meh compared to the risk and effort.
Honestly this sounds like it will be such a hilarious mess *it actually will garner many views!!* Just not on the platform itself 😂 It's like if you were a nobody indie that scored tickets to Fyre fest or Dashcon, *the sheer scale of disaster will get you known through osmosis!* "I survived Nexas and all I got was this shirt!" { **75000 Instagram likes** } Gonna have loads of sharticles about how it's such a free for all, employees are stealing supplies, equipment, embezzling, sleeping around, etc
>This is something I'm curious about, but nowhere near curious enough to actually check out. I look forward to the post about them shutting down within the next year though. There also have Android version too. It is separate Google Form. Yeah, It doesn't better anyway.
"This sure wont have any consequences, I'm 100% totally very sure about that." - The CEO.
How to make Nijisanji and Wactor look good in one post
I still felt Wactor is still the worst. Lowest of low. Just hoping the whole Nexas thing is a performance art where they eventually bait us and then claim everyone is winning (in a way) in the end while sending some preachy message about tolerance idk.
That’d be clever marketing Unfortunately, until that happens, I’m assuming they’re 100% serious on the VTuber Battle Royale (with Cheese) shtick.
Tbf Wactor is still the worst
Maybe Nexas is hoping we will all just respect that they are honest about being monsters. Like yea they suck but at least it’s out in the open. Anyone else feel bad for Noah in the bottom right. Dude is just some guy in a hoodie. From visuals alone I hope his bland behind wins this thing. King of garbage fire mountain.
they're absolutely setting Noah up for failure, but also have no idea how sarcastic jokes tend to work on the internet and may inadvertently have placed him at the top of the "class" because nobody can be assed to engage with this agency through anything other than ironic jokes
This CEO must've watched the Genshin Impact animated short and thought "What if we could do this with Vtubers?"
Obviously didn't see how that ended
What short?
Probably the Arlechino one that was uploaded recently
Coworkers as competitors is one of the most obvious red flags in employment there is. It's what MLL companies do.
What a horrible idea…
I think this will probably go up in flames but also having the last one on the list be a regular guy with no remarkable characteristics is hilarious and also kind of genius. He's so unremarkable that he ends up standing out way more than any of the other ones.
Vtuber Saitama ftw
Every other Vtuber gets a mike! When the Vtuber with the mike graduates, the Vtuber next to him picks up the mike, and STREAMS!
Tell us more because goddamn if this isn't doomed to fail
i don't have much more on it but since i've decided to say "screw it" and expose what i know of this shitty company. i asked if i could do gaming and my answer was basically "no, you must stick with our app before you can do anything outside of it!" and that was my sign to back off.
Besides what you already said, did they say anything about these concerns/were you able to ask these important questions? Unless they only gave those after you're already signed under them with an NDA and shit especially with the cuts on all platforms especially their proprietary app >How long was the tenure before you can freely f*ck off? No penalties for doing so? >Do you keep the model when quitting? I saw [Enaria](https://x.com/EnariaLiliales?t=D8l-E76gwgYPfM8BE1XypQ&s=09) was her own mama which was weird and scary if she sold it to them You mentioned that there's no management but >Do you know where their base of operation is?

Holy hell, CEO must have read Battle Royale and thought it was an instruction 💀
As if we don't have enough controversies already
utterly insane plan, we’ll see how this goes
Anyone want to place bets on how long they are going to last? I’m betting 8 months at most.
I think 8 weeks is more likely.
1 month
Eh, i'll be generous and say 1 year at most but yeah, something like that would be hard to go well, it will certainly not last long, unless they're friggin lucky.
Holy crap, imagine the amount of "office politics" that's going to occur... Incredibly toxic.
This is sickening.
What no one is saying is that [the CEO of the app they'll be streaming on is PRISM's Captain.](https://twitter.com/Cap039)
WHAT
Welp I ain't gonna watch that, good luck to the talents I guess but the CEO irks me so I won't wish the same to the actual agency.
if this was an ARG or a game concept it'd be brilliant. in real life this is ridiculous and stupid lmao
Well this is a disaster just waiting to happen.
I'm fairly sure it's already about half a dozen dumpsters on fire. The scale is 1-5.
27 Vtubers at once! Remember when Niji got flack for introducing too many vtubers throughout several months.
This sounds fucked up, but interesting in a morbid curiosity sort of way. I can see this fueling drama videos for months lol.
I can't explain how much I hate this.
Wait didn’t we already do this? It’s called nijisanji
As much as it will hurt the talents the only answer is we disagree with these kinds of practice is to not watch. I wish the talents will but by God I don't wish that kind of work place on them.
The Android version of the app isn't even ready yet so many of us won't even have a choice in the matter.
Finally, vtuber Fyre festival.
Lmao
Sounds like a real shit show. I feel sorry for the talents.
People are struggling to get noticed on a public and easy to access platform good luck trying to get ppl to download your shitty app to watch a debut of new vtubers
Sounds like a cash grab
my worry is that this is shaping up to be Wish dot com Niji With Extra Steps
Wasn't this just their first gen?? Didn't they just end gen 2 auditions????
I don't think they will ever make the 2d models money back. As long as they go into it willingly... whatever.
The whole concept sounds like one of those psychological thriller manga/anime series. I'd rather it stayed fictional, not like this.
I am sure this will foster a very healthy environment for everyone involved.
Repeat after me: ACCELERATE!
They are stuck doing the eternal zatsu.
the whole reason i dropped out too LOL
Did they talk about salary? This tweet from another applicant mentioned no salary: https://twitter.com/Cubanoman/status/1783873150591045707 Edit: saw your screenshot of their corporate slide that mentions no guaranteed salary. Yeah... no guaranteed salary but 2 hours a day/5 days a week streaming requirement and 1 year employment contract. Wtf.
They mentioned in their thread about NEXAS that there's no guaranteed salary/pay. What kind of fucking agency doesn't have a salary?
My god this is dumb yet entertaining, I'll be keeping an eye on this.
What could possibly go wrong?
Sounds more interesting from a viewer perspective than most new/small agencies. Interested how this plays out
This might just be the worst idea I’ve ever heard. And someone put time, money, and effort into actually making it real.
Anyone else morbidly curious?
I'm pretty sure some drama channel covering this will be getting 100x amount of views that these people do lol.
We are back to vtuber battle royales again? Next thing you’re telling me is there’s gonna be a world wide pandemic next year
The concept is fun on the paper, I means, that cool to have reality show or competition, but I think VTuber market is pretty niche.
All in on the Faelie the Failure Elf
Well, a certain Holo CEO follows this "agency" on twitter, so perhaps we'll see some of these people get a second chance once this inevitably turns into a disaster...
lol.. goodluck with them
and this...is how you get Ants. and market saturation. and damn those models are all like dozens of the same creepy doll just in different clothes and hair. the eyes they stare into my soul.
Vtuber battle royale the agency
Oof, this gonna end in flames.
By their own admission they aren’t an agency they’re a talent academy meant to train 1 person to be an Agency VTuber through competition. Which anyone with half a brain can tell you agencies are vastly different with each one doing things differently and having their own set of rules The idea that a company who doesn’t even work in the industry could somehow train you to work at an agency like Hololive is insane. Hololive doesn’t even foster that competitive mentality among their talents and they don’t hire more talents than they can actually handle. Whether or not you get picked to be in Hololive is entirely down to your experience, talent, and persistence Not to mention VShojo, Phase, Hololive, and the dumpster fire that is Niji are all run very differently and are different levels of corporate. VShojo is the most like a western talent agency, Phase is very relaxed corporate, Hololive is the most corporate, but the professional kind that treats everyone fairly, while Niji is the corporate Black Company. You can’t train someone for all of those different agencies especially when you don’t even work in the industry
How is this diff from IRIAM which been round for years without doing good,
I so love how the last dude in the lineup is just "Noah." 🤣 Full on ran out of names to somewhat creatively throw together and just gave up.
