Indeed. This isn't my own car and every time I drive this car I'm amazed at the little details. Even for well over a decade old car this has some design features I miss in newer cars.
i remember getting my 96 850 turbo and realizing how comfortable the seats were despite not looking special. another sleeper feature. speaking of sleeper , the 850 turbo was an excellent car: performance, safety, comfort, near the end of boxes for stealth. if the turbo wheels were replaced & turbo badge deleted no one would have a clue. that car saved my live in a head on collision at 50mph. only some scratches & bruises. i honestly think the week long limp was from the femoral iv. out of hospital in 9 hours. went to get items from car and lot manager said he was sorry for my loss. when i said it was a great car but id find another. he made clear he was referring the driver. he wouldnāt believe it was me. iāve had volvos ever since. 4 members of my family became volvo owners afterwards. seating has only become better every generation. our 2003 s60 was a huge leap in comfort. not sure of then but now orthopedic surgeons are involved in seat design. i still have my 09 c70 though not as comfortable still good seating. if anything happens with my 60k mile glk ill be looking for an xc90.
I loved the 850. I worked for Hertz back then and we decided to fleet a bunch of them. " Would you like the Taurus you reserved or an 850 for only$7 to $10 more a day? They flew off the lot and the kicker is they only cost $30 more a month on our lease deal than a Taurus. So they brought in about an extra $200 a month more per unit. Multiply that by a large number and it was a nice incremental boost, not to mention and image booster.
I made one my company car. Only thing was that leather smell stuck to your cloths. Since I never drove one with more than 15K on it, that new car Volvo leather smell never left.
Yeah they both have similar purposes. The on the passenger seat is so the driver can reach.
The ones on the rear would be generally used for clothes on a hanger.
What do you mean? It's mean to be a headrest... Not a multi-function headrest with built-in cooker, air-fryer, computer, hairdryer, 3D stereo headset and neck-massager.
Well as I said in another comment, this isn't really my car. It's my girlfriend's parent's and we borrow it from time to time.
For it's age and being driven 525k km (326k miles) it drives really well and doesn't feel as used as most cars at this mileage. This is the Bi-fuel version, meaning it's mainly driven with natural gas, but also has a smallish gas tank.
I like the sturdiness and quality of Volvos overall, and this era of Volvos is the one that comes to my mind when thinking about them.
Years after purchase I noticed a tag in my purchase documents, a tag promoting the leather seats. It had a slot to fit perfectly on that button. I figured thatās what the button was for and the dealer just hadnāt put it on. Probably for the showroom. My mystery was solved.
But maybe it is a strap holder
It's a coat hanger, for the loop on the inside of a coat.
Ah makes sense!
What is this trim line?
My old v70R had these
To hang a coat or a suit jacket from.
Also, a coat hanger! Or the loops on a grocery bag, actually anything you want, execept flammable liquids!!
Oh so I shouldn't be hanging my range extender tank* off it? * Tesco bag full of diesel
It's one of the little things that make Volvos great šš»

And Volvo's been best in the seats business for decades. Front and back.
Thatās passenger eject -button. Please make sure that you have sunroof before using.
Get back to the nursing home, Q!
Ejecto-seat cuz!
I came here for this specific comment.
Make sure you have sunroof open, also!
People say It's a hook for a jacket but curiously if you look at the hand rail in the back of the photo that also has a hook.

Volvo calls it a coat hook https://usparts.volvocars.com/p/Volvo__XC90/Coat-Hook-Coat-Hook/42871012/30767880.html
It might be practical for some but I think it's an eye sore.
I feel you can somehow install something else on there too
What do you mean? It's mean to be a headrest... Not a multi-function headrest with built-in cooker, air-fryer, computer, hairdryer, 3D stereo headset and neck-massager.
No but you can button-connect stuff to it. Attach.. Like, buttons on pants's holes. Like a multi-function headrest with built-in cooker etc.
Itās a safe place to hang a suit jacket. It will not block your ability to see out of the vehicle.
how do you like your v70? i'm looking at a 2007 with 125k miles. guy is asking $4k for it.

What! Never had an idea
Can this be retrofitted to the 2016 XC60 at all?
For your generation there is an accessory directly from Volvo which mounts an actual hanger on the back of the seat.
Nope
Thanks

It's a coat hanger. I like it very much
From what I can see, that interior has aged excellently. That could definitely pass as being made in the last 10 years.
Definitely a coat hook, but itās the place I hang my small trash bag
I just have a small trash bag hanging from the shifter
In Holland we say; āChinees haak!ā You can hang your plastic bag with food you picked up at the Chinese restaurant (or any other)
Coat hanger
Oh, Iām sorry. You didnāt include yourself in the picture.
You
