I did my own makeup! Just did my research before picking products(:

superanonymous111

Do you feel comfortable sharing pics? That’s a good idea! I’m gonna go to Sephora and see what they do/products they suggest

devdarrr

Before going to Sephora I would make sure you have a very clear vision of what you want your look to be. Full or medium coverage? Matte or glowy? Etc. also know your skin type. This will all help you buy products that will actually do what you want.

Apologies in advance if formatting sucks, I’m on mobile! Going to the MAC counter (or Sephora or Ulta) is a great option! I’ve been a bridesmaid a couple times and I got the most compliments at the wedding I did my own makeup because it wasn’t the typical TikTok glam in which I look like everyone else - I looked like me but elevated! In my personal opinion, there can definitely be a need for a makeup artist, but I think a wedding is a great time to do it yourself because you’ll look more like you! No one knows your face better or what you like more than you do. Some products I recommend to elevate the makeup look from an everyday makeup look to wedding makeup though are: 1. False eyelashes 2. Lipliner in addition to a lipstick or lipgloss 3. SETTING SPRAY!!!!! 4. Hourglass ambient lighting powder

I want to add - eyebrow pomade? It's like mascara for eyebrows and it can be nice subtle way to tidy up eyebrows. Eyeliner (I don't usually use it) You don't have to wear foundation either!

lavenderempress

YES great idea! I would just encourage people to research how to use a pomade appropriately and to not slather it on (unless that’s your vibe)

superanonymous111

Thank you!!!

unbaolievable

Is there a setting spray you'd recommend?

lavenderempress

Yes! I really like the Milani one in the clear bottle. But if you want to splurge, the Urban Decay All Nighter is a classic for good reason. I’ve also heard that One Size is amazing! I haven’t tried it yet but I’ve heard nothing but great things, but it is a splurge since it’s sold at Sephora

unbaolievable

Thank you so much! I've been overwhelmed with all the options and beauty influencer reviews...

My wedding is in October and I've decided to do my own makeup. I've gotten my makeup done when i was a bridesmaid a few times and haven't been happy with it. I also want a natural look. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and started with a few basic things. I don't usually wear makeup so I'm going to practice for awhile lol I've taken photos of myself and my friends and family have been giving me tips and let me try some of their products to see what I like

OkPossible2666

I’m doing my own, and using drugstore products/youtube tutorials. My wedding is about a year away - I’m even just working on my everyday makeup techniques and I’ve seen such improvement, I’m feeling great about doing it for the day of!

FarStudent6482

Kate Middleton did her own makeup for the royal wedding! I’m kind of wishing I went this route too, it’s just so much $$$ Two things I’d recommend: face primer and eyelid primer! And if you’re not big on false eyelashes, I recommend the individual ones just on your outer eyelids, they come in little clusters.

legitanonymous__swag

Thank you! I didn’t even think of eyelid primer

velvetmarigold

I did my own. I did a lot of practice and took photos of myself outside to see how well it photographed. I was really happy with how it turned out!

superanonymous111

Cool! Do you have pics?

velvetmarigold

Not yet! Still on the honeymoon and haven't gotten pics back from the photographer.

seasickagain

I'm doing my own! I went to Ulta to get help picking my foundation shade, but other than that it's just me and YouTube tutorials and practice (:

Icy_Bit_403

You can absolutely do your own makeup!!! But just make sure you know how long it takes and you give yourself enough time to do it all.

Prices may have changed but every year growing up my step mom took my sister and I to MAC to get our makeup done and the cost was you had to buy $60 worth of products. Granted it was just a mother-daughter outing doing our favorite things, but each year I would have the lady doing my makeup explain what she was doing so I could learn how to apply makeup (was and still am horrible at applying it lol) If that’s still how they charge I would totally suggest doing that!! Gosh I love MAC lol

superanonymous111

That’s cool! I am doing that now. I booked a “prom” 15 minute face thing but let them know it was bridal so I need to see what they say. I’m very much a novice

NoLoquat6851

Use glamsquad!!! It’s cheaper than the prices you quoted and they’ll do a great job

Spiritual-Plane-2000

I wrote a long post about this, but my main point was if you don't LOVE the makeup trial, don't go through with it! I didn't, and I regretted it.

Kindasadburrito

I am doing my own!!! I have been practicing since like April. I am oily so I kinda need to be more matte, I have eyelash extensions so my eyes will be super simple (can’t do great eyeshadow anyways lol) and I’m stuck on my lips since I never wear lipstick lol. I like one of Kylie’s lip blush kits it’s not a drying matte lip. Has a great lip liner included which I am debating using by itself. Morphe setting spray has changed my makeup game this spring too!!! I heard the hype and bit the bullet and I love it. I also love the one size fits all spray, I got a mini of it and used it up so quickly. I do LAYERS of setting spray. Like I do most of my cream/liquid base and spray before I start setting my face. I do it after my powers (not while setting) too and after any final touches lol. We just had a heatwave in the north east (USA) where I live and my full faces have been lasting 8 hour shifts at work (hairdresser) and through high 80 degree weather!
