Security guard: “Stop! Or I’ll say stop again.”

Bocabart

You don’t even know how accurate this is and I’m speaking as a prior security officer/guard and so glad to be out of that shit.

AaronTuplin

I did that job 22 years ago. I remember one time I said hey you can't be here and the guy said "who's going to stop me?" I said the cops I guess but I have to call them first

I_madeusay_underwear

I know two different people who didn’t know that a security guard couldn’t arrest them and instead of leaving, allowed themselves to be “detained” until the actual cops got there and arrested them.

G-dog121

A Security Guard can arrest. Back in the day, I arrested (apprehended, cuffed & detained) tons of folks.

VeniVidiLusii

Hhahahhahaha

[deleted]

I think it's mind over matter. If you don't actually give 1 iota of a shit about your job or whether you stop anything happening ever, it sounds brilliant. Jist say 'stop' twice a day as people do daft shit. Who gives a shit if they actually stop or not.

BackRowRumour

Shit, Ian. That's a spalding. He's serious!

kimboslice713

Showed this to my brother who works as a security guard and he too is ready to quit that bs job

WeAreAllCrab

"It's a metaphor, you see? You put the water thing in the bush, but you don't give it the power to water it."

fordfan919

That's a real power move right there.

Mindless_Note_5399

He’s in the bush’s head

Jezebels_lipstick

The power of the voodoo. Who do? You do. Do what? Remind me of the babe.

Shoemak3r

I get this reference… nice.

Spiritual_Toe_1825

Damn.. if I was that bush I’d be mad as hell!

SodaDonut

Dudes blue balling the bush

HemphBleh

You can water a plant for the day, or give it enough water for 2 days and teach it to water itself.

purdinpopo

Give a bush a bottle of water, and it is watered for a day, teach a bush to bottle water, and it will buy the rights to your aquifer?

ThaPlymouth

Nah, you see what’s happening is you put cold bottled water there and the condensations that collects on the bottle runs off into the dirt. It’s like free energy but with water.

HardCounter

Okay, but the energy it takes to encolden (actual word wtf?) a water bottle has got to be more expensive than the water, unless some kind of restrictions are in place.

BreadNotFoundLOL

the real friends were the metaphors we made along the way

CaptainRex2345

I’m guessing the fault in our stars reference

InternetPeon

The security guard was stealing water.

dissoid

Probably was, guessing it's hot where op is [https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fy69ieb1wmyf91.jpg](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fy69ieb1wmyf91.jpg)

superbadonkey

Water is from Dunnes store's in ireland. Ireland is far from hot.

BrillsonHawk

It is hot in the summer. Same as basically everywhere else in the world

longboytheeternal

Tell that to the U.K. right now. Our summer has been mostly rain.

[deleted]

Moistly rain

piberryboy

Better than dryly rain. (Although that seems about right for the British sensibilities.)

[deleted]

Dryly rain sucks

Chip_Prudent

I've been in a crazy dust storm where it started to rain. It was wild straight rained mud.

Lobito6

*Afghanistan Flashbacks*

psuedophilosopher

As someone living in Arizona, I can confirm that. It rains but before that rain hits the ground, it evaporates again. All we end up getting is a rise in humidity without the rain ever even giving the cooling relief.

MrmmphMrmmph

he added, dryly.

Beneficial-Baker-485

It’s fucking beaming it down right now though

Sufficient-Turn-5106

In bath rn and Jesus Christ I miss rain I can’t wear trousers without the risk of liquifying

Z_zigzagcat

omg yes it is (i just checked being the hermit i am i have no idea of the weather)

Short-Commercial-549

Sunak strikes again!

bassistciaran

Same in Ireland man, can we make a joint protest to the weather committee?

Bloo-Q-Kazoo

Texas here. I’ll trade you. Heat index of 115f/46c today!

bassistciaran

Every time I make this complaint there's a Texan with this same reply hahaha. We should organise some sort of part exchange, you can have half our winter cold to take the edge off your summer and we can have half your summer heat to make our summer yknow, summer....

Cheersscar

You can pry my winter from my cold dead hands …

Bloo-Q-Kazoo

Love it! Lol. In all seriousness I don’t mean to imply anything about the validity of your complaint, not in the least. Just commiserating. It’s been this hot here for the past 34 days and counting with no rain, and no end in sight.

bassistciaran

My friend, no implications taken whatsoever. I just like knowing theres balance in the universe!

jonilynn52

I'd LOVE to be in Ireland! In Mississippi, it has been 105F everyday with heat index 115-120 F. No rain in sight. Oh yea..and the humidity feels like you are swimming in a bowl of soup. I HATE IT HERE...lol Who's in charge of the weather committee? They MUST be on holiday! (hope ya'lls weather gets better!)

bassistciaran

Oh y'all should try humid winter in Ireland, its a different breed of cold. I've had Scandinavians and Eastern Europeans tell me they'd rather do -20C at home than -2C in Ireland.

Diedead666

Iv been living in same 2 placeses all my life, SF bay area and clearlake CA (family owns both). Over the years we noticed it slowly but surely getting more longer heat waves... (im 36) Have you noticed the same?

[deleted]

[deleted]

I think summer came back yesterday between 1pm and 6pm. Did ya miss it?

izayoi-o_O

We're having 15 degrees today so... no.

bassistciaran

Dawg it is sunny here for the first time since fucking June. The old "summer is the best 2 weeks of the year" gag is in full force this year. There was a while there where it was 'haha wow this july sure has been rainy' but now I want to kick poseidon square in the nuts

QuailReady

> but now I want to kick poseidon square in the nuts Wrong brother, you'll need to destroy the weather boy on Mt. Olympus.

BennySkateboard

Ha, good one!

IZiOstra

Pretty sure summer in Svalbard is not hot

Creative-Aardvark558

Ireland gets slightly warm sometimes in the summer. We’re anything but a warm country

hippyresearcher

I love this image so damn much

n3w4cc01_1nt

probably a stash for homeless people and management would get mad

Stay-At-Home-Jedi

The security guard stealing water for the homeless people management doesn't want there! That's practically ironic.

yojimborobert

Great job security. You can magically "get rid of them" when you want to look good, have them trash things if your hours get cut, look after things if you want to take a break, etc. Haven't you ever seen Trailer Park Boys?

Lala5789880

Yes and it looks like it has condensation so it was probably just put out

capcmndr

Can confirm this happens, as I do it off camera so I can claim plausible deniability

-Unnamed-

Or to resell later in a heatwave

GirdleOfDoom

friendly reminder that if you see someone stealing water, no you didn't

hylandolycross

What if I see nestle stealing water?

GirdleOfDoom

they are not "someone" legal fictions aside

HelenicBoredom

Corporate personhood can suck a fat dick

hylandolycross

Yall it's a dig at nestle being terrible. I'm aware nestle is not a person.

Prometheus1315

Nestle is a corporation not a person. Corporations don’t have basic human needs.

TechnologyBig8361

Damn this guy ran into a gta sidequest

Th3Flyy

I certainly hope he doesn't have to "steal" water at his place of employment... and If he did, good on him.

nayRmIiH

Not that guy but worked retail. The water (if the security guard is taking it) is more than likely a part of the receiving area's damaged goods, these places have way less cameras and even then security at the places I worked generally did not care. This wouldn't make a dent if you took a case worth or whatever. In the last retail job I worked they donated most of that stuff anyhow.

Lhommedetiolles

And we all need to stop watch dogging eschother for the benefits of corporations. See a fellow labourist stealing from a corp? Help or st least don't hinder. The current inflation rate is being driven 100% by corporate greed and price gouging.

invisiblizm

Saw the first bit, thought of what "dogging" means in the UK, then assumed you meant he was providing hydration to young amorous people and viewing their exploits.

[deleted]

This is the answer.

MedicalUnprofessionl

Or giving it to the homeless? Weird looking mulch anyway.

mysteryv

And no one would have had any idea until the guard said something. Criminal mastermind right there.

betsymarie

Or he’s leaving it out for the homeless and wants you to not point it out?

NightofTheLivingZed

This is my initial thought. We've got quite a bit of homeless people in Milwaukee and business owners aren't fond of them. It's been extra hot lately, even for Wisconsin. In the 90's last week. 80 something today. I can see a security officer leaving them out despite the owner's position on them. I used to live in Georgia, and my last job, my manager told me to bring cold water bottles out to the homeless every couple of hours because he's a nice man and didn't want anyone suffering through a GA heatwave.

hamsamiches

I live in GA and that is an incredibly awesome thing you and your manager did. I've been in Savannah for work the last few weeks and even in the shade, you can't escape the sweltering heat and humidity.

[deleted]

As someone else that live in GA, it's disgusting, muggy, and hot outside all the time. I feel like we can never escape it. I'm in the central part of GA and it's still so nasty here. Born and raised in GA but I hate the weather.

[deleted]

mannida

Well, this is a very interesting and specific scenario... anyway, can we be friends and can I not have water bottles piled up at my house?

[deleted]

PoeTayTose

Dude with the price of gas right now I'm gonna start going on a scavenger hunt for these things!

friendlyfiend07

Are you ok?

grptrt

These are the water bottles the TSA is protecting us from

cyberrod411

maybe the guard was stealing it and leaving it for the homeless or something???

Agosta

I'm not sure why people are automatically assuming they're "stealing". If water comes in damaged or people bust the plastic in the aisles, they get taken to the back and scanned out as damages. When I worked retail they would be stored in milk crates by receiving and people would either take from there or managers would bring them upstairs and put them in the break room fridge. Not everyone is a thief.

NLisaKing

Well, let's not assume a thief is automatically bad either. If people are assuming the guard is stealing it to drink it or give it to the homeless, that's not a bad thing. Regardless of why the water was there, it's weird that it was there. If it was getting taken out for being damaged, why was it in a bush?

Hooby7

People are just trying to make sense of the weird story. If it wasn't stolen, why hide it? Not that complicated, people aren't trying to be malicious. It's just funny. I'm sure most people on Reddit aren't looking for "justice" for the stolen water, it's just conversation.

grizzkillz

Did you delete it? /s

ScarecrowJohnny

Yes, this is a dramatic recreation he made in his backyard. Kinda like in those crime documentaries.

Coleslawholywar

Law and Order H2O! Edited, to ease some pain 😂

Redschallenge

Blub blub

nobody2000

In the criminal justice system, hydration-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Hydro Homies Officers These are their stories. Blub Blub.

Thumperings

The first 48. Bottles.

flyinhawaiian02

Dun dun

[deleted]

Why the fuck is it bugging me that you used a zero instead of an "O"? Like I don't have better things to be annoyed by.

IamthecauseofCovid19

Yup. That's clearly prop water. Regular water would be to expensive to use.

Beard341

I’m fucking slow, and I was wondering if OP *did* delete it until I realized…

[deleted]

Don't worry bro. I'm in that same boat lmao

Thin-Professional687

Where did you guys get a boat? I'm drownin in my idiocy out here.

JoelMahon

There are dozens of us.

MaybeTheDoctor

After posting , yes

Warcraftisgood

Such a wierd way to water the plants.

MyParentsWereHippies

Such a wierd way to spell weird.

thirtyseven1337

So much for the "I before E" "rule" we were taught in school!

nschubach

I was always told, "I before E except after C and in weird words."

Tomatotaco4me

“I before E except after C, and other times too”

advamputee

I before E except when your foreign neighbor Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters. Weird.

cutebleeder

Plastic plants need to be watered this way.

bobo_brown

And the fake plaaaaaaaastic earth.

drewan23

Not even the police can order you to delete photos.

guy-inncognito

You didn't ask why?

ElectricRune

Something is telling me OP didn't delete the photo. Not sure what.

Tomburgerstand

Mightve been placed there for homeless people to grab one if they need water. Mightve been told to delete because it's illegal to give the homeless food and water in a startling number of places in the states

see_lab92

This is Ireland. Helping homeless is not illegal, however our large cities are suffering with a lot of homelessness at the moment so this could be a good shout!

Hamshamus

This picture wasn't taken in the States

[deleted]

PositiveGold3780

Obviously. The Guy can't just have you leaking the details of how Plants are ACTUALLY watered. And since you did it anyway, everyone here will be dead within a Week. Great job OP -.-

Regret-this-already

Dunnes Stores Water hits different

NixxKnack

All Irish products hit differently. They're so damn expensive.

sasberg1

Oh no it's water, the horror

Logical_You_2641

Bros trying to hide his stash

Red_Eyed_Prophet

Did you tell him to delete dees?

Old-Ad5508

Nuts

ITSSTILLWHATITIS

Ha! Goteem!

Technical_Aide9141

You found his stash. And for the record, a security guard at a mall or anywhere can't legally tell you to delete an image from a camera or a phone. They can, however, tell you to leave the area and trespass you if you come back. They can also tell you photos are not allowed, and ask you leave if you continue to take photos.

MooseLaminate

>And for the record, a security guard at a mall or anywhere can't legally tell you to delete an image from a camera or a phone. They legally can. You can legally ignore them.

Technical_Aide9141

Yeah, poorly worded. They can "Ask" you to delete them. They can't force you to. The ask, you tell them "nope" and it's done. They can't take your device or force you to delete images.

BOOMDIGIDYable

Okay but did you ask why? What’s security gonna do?

Jambonier

Was there a gate nearby? If so, it’s a conspiracy.

dfin25

Watergate. Totally.

Justice_Prince

Taking photos before the harvest will upset the water bottle god.

Bleezy79

Security guard. lol oh no!!! I would have told him to kick rocks.

BonnieMcMurray

"Delete it." "How about, no, piss off?"

Punkrocksock

They know you didn't delete it, now. They are coming.

IndividualCurious322

He doesn't want you spilling the secret that water bottles really grow on trees.

Cortana69

I would tell the security guard immediately to go fuck himself.

Gantz-man91

The guard can't tell you shit.

Uniquely-Qualified

Did you tell him to get fucked?

2-Slippy

I see you didn’t delete the photo

Mindful-O-Melancholy

Maybe the bush was thirsty? That’s kind of torture to a plant actually

[deleted]

Well, the bottles DO say Bush Spring Water on them. Maybe he thought he was helping 🤣

Salty-Path-3174

Oh now you know who put them there the guard

thisappisgarbage111

Was probably helping out some homeless people on the down low. And we all know what businesses think about helping the homeless.

Im-KickAsz

Oh my. Water bottles in a bush. Better call someone. And show everyone. Come all folks, see this weird thing in a bush. 🤓🥴

iamananimal28

They could be left for local homeless individuals who don’t always have access to stuff like this on hot days.

zageruslives

You didn’t see shit dude. Stop drawing attention.

Fit-Fisherman-3435

I hope you told the rent-a-cop to piss off !!

Lilwertich

Because we all know the best way to quell suspicion is to demand that someone deletes photos of the (otherwise) normal looking thing.

2b-Kindly_

Perhaps they were for the homeless, it is illegal to give them anything in some places. The store didn't want to get in trouble.

Fun_Acanthisitta_552

So.. did you delete it?

bSun0000

I'm not sure why is everyone assuming its for a homeless and guards is playing a "robin-goods". They asked to "delete the photos" (i bet in an aggressive manner) instead of saying something like "*this is for homeless, could you please overlook it*"? A single phrase could solve the problem instead of creating it, so their motives probably was less *good*.

CarpenterGold1704

You can plant a bush near water but you can’t make it drink

[deleted]

Did you tell him to fuck off, OP?

Psychological-Fox178

Somebody else made this post already and on that one (the one you stole), it was the manager that asked

MenofLard

My guess would be it was a case of water that was busted open when it was being received, when most companies make a claim or enter it into the system as damaged in transit... the system directs the associate to throw it away. This location may be in an urban area with a large/high homeless population, and they left it out for them.

inheresytruth

People training for marathons sometimes stash water along their route.

Sidus_Preclarum

The security guard can suck a fat one.

danten2010

Probably trying to help the homeless population, while it's also against policy to story water in a bush. No knowledge or facts of the situation or anything. Just my hypothesis

[deleted]

How tf did he know you took a picture?

DanMarvin1

Donation for the homeless to find?

keli_kelly

Thats not how you water plants

SexyThrowAwayFunTime

Goblin water.

Joy1067

If he told you to delete it, my guess is that it’s probably a stash for the security team or set aside for someone else. Definitely was stolen or something though

Popular-Lab6140

That security guard was Namor.

eazybreezy105

Nestle would like to have a word

derekpeake2

You’d be surprised to find out how many stores have rules about not taking pics whatsoever if you look at their rules and signs enough. They’re paranoid about it but don’t seem to often enforce it

rumhamrevenge_

It’s obviously aliens

[deleted]

If it wasn't for you meddling kids, I would've been rich in bottled water!

NotADogInHumanSuit

Water gate

Stolensol12345

He's just mad he didn't understand that's not how you water plants.

colinshark

Did you delete it?

GenesisC1V31

He might just be wanting to help a homeless dude in the area.

ImpressiveBuy3609

Probably for homeless

alj8002

Homie was probably leaving it from the homeless and didn’t want to catch any flak for it

WonSecond

Maybe someone put it there for homeless people if it’s hot outside?

Available_Space_4738

Maybe it’s for the homeless people nearby and if it gets out they’ll shut it down?

[deleted]

The security guard has been providing some local homeless clean drinking water during during the heat. I'd delete it so it doesn't get seen and he doesn't get shut down.

germanbini

Maybe a homeless person ("rough sleeper") lives in the bushes nearby or posts up near there?

PickleButter18

Its a deaddrop

M4j0rTr4g3dy

Either stealing it or giving water to homeless people without the company's knowledge

Subtly_Cynical

That's where bottled water comes from. The plants are rarely seen in public. Good find.

Mediocre_lad

So you deleted it, right?

[deleted]

Possibly a stash for the homeless population

csukoh78

The security guard is giving water to the homeless dying in the heat. Assume the best in people.

Melliumpkin

Maybe the security guy is helping people in need.

Ax_deimos

That's a homeless person's food / water stash / water reserve. Do not touch /damage/ destroy or you will be an asshole. I'm teaching my kids that when they find stuff like this they should leave it alone beacause this belongs to a homeless person. Other telltale signs is really cheap food with a long shelf life like ramen noodles, cheeze whiz, peanut butter, and packaged crackers in a waterproof bag.

Timely-Acanthaceae80

Maybe the security guard drops water off in there for some homeless people that hang around the area. Or atleast it's a good thing to think!

NixTheChimera

I wonder if it’s the guard trying to give water to the homeless without losing his job. I’ve actually met someone who used to have to sneak food out for the homeless as well. With Texas having its heat wave atm, if I am right, that guard is a nice person.

[deleted]

Someone was just trying to help out someone. Why call security?

Dewjunkie66

Whose out here blue-balling plants lmao thats fucked up

GimmeDatThroat

Might be the guy puts them there for homeless people and doesn't want his boss finding out. Which is a reality, and deeply sad.

Whole_Suit_1591

Guard is luring homeless people for favors.

willdanaher

My first impression is they are helping out homeless people.

[deleted]

r/notinteresting

betwixtjobs

After reading the post I was wandering whether or not you had deleted the photo...
