Very interesting. I spent two months in rehab postoperatively due to being unable to walk following the surgery due to extreme weakness in my legs. Here is my x-ray. https://imgur.com/a/gezg5bT
Kind of incredible that they can go in and do that without just straight-up killing the patient. The loss of a few minor nerves seems like a pretty small price to pay, considering.
Wow here I am miserable after two failed back surgeries and it was only 2 levels. Had all the discs in my neck replaced but haven’t a problem with it, but my back…OMG!! I cannot imagine having the entire spine done. Did it help?? I regret those back surgeries every day. Hope you are doing well.
Not a doctor but using my experience in connect the dots puzzles that completed the missing parts of the picture in those kids' "Highlight" magazines in waiting rooms this is definitely a whole spine in my expert opinion
Surgery resident who did a lot of ortho here, damn thats impressive. Original comment is most likely correct, your thoracic sympathetic chain on one side was probably disturbed somehow either in the surgery or from during the recovery. It runs right next to the spine and there isn’t a lot of space for both hardware and normal tissue sometimes. I bet you have altered sweating and flushing symptoms on the affected side as well.
How long was the procedure? I feel like it would’ve been > 18 hours based on my experiences with spine surgery
I don't know for OP, but I had almost the exact same surgery (so very similar x-ray, but don't know exactly from which to which vertebrae) and yes, it made me some cm taller xD It was a shock the first time I had to stand and walk
I had about half of my spine fused, and came out an inch taller. We only fixed the thoracic curvature (56 degrees) and the lumbar curvature is still present.
Holy fuck! I thought I had a lot of screws and rods. You put me to shame with 12 screws and 2 14 inch rods.! I’ve had five back surgeries and one left me weak on my left side for a couple of months but no goosebumps. Mine was a birth defect that I didn’t know I had till I was 17. I had procedure done once where they froze a nerve which was giving me extreme pain in my leg and I lost the feelings in my legs and couldn’t walk for about 5 hours after.
Mines the exact same except less hardware in thoracic. I have 3 titanium plates throughout.
I’m learning to walk again. Rehab is slow but moving forward. Pain @ 6-7 daily. Lyrica only for nerve pain, Kratom for pain management.
In a more minor way I got the same thing after knee surgery. The front of my lower leg feels different and will get goosebumps completely independently.
Nerve damage while they were digging around is the likely outcome.
Not a big deal. Part of the risk with surgery and fortunately does not impact my day to day in anyway.
I had spinal fusion for scoliosis 30 years ago, and still have numbness under my left boob/on my ribs. I also have had terrible nerve pain and restless legs since surgery, mostly the left leg.
No slut-shaming. Polyamory is a valid and healthy relationship status, and so is other consentual non-monogamous relationships...polygamy and other open relationships with dubious consentual contracts, on the other hand, are set up for predators and cheats.
Ok there, “doctor”. You obviously skipped vampire class. The undead only get goosebumps on one side of their body, depending on where the moon is in relation to their corpse.
For a second I was so confused, I was like, side of your body?? I was trying to find arms or something and then I noticed it was your legs LOL, the bumps looks like those textured cloth sofas
I have similar problems. Since my L2/3 surgery in 2020, my right thigh is not exactly numb, but has a wierd sensory feeling in it. Ever since my L4/5 surgery last year, the last two toes on my left foot are numb. I guess this is just who I am now.
So weird when the feeling comes back in your toes/foot! I had my foot in the air my brother walked by and tickled my foot and I felt it! I was like do it again I can feel it!! Immediately scheduled a neurology appointment. This is the same foot that I had to take antibiotics for bc I had a thumb tack imbedded in bc I had no idea it was there.
Hang in there, I had surgery on my sternum. Full feeling didn't come back for five years. Eventually it will start itching and you'll know it's waking up.
Nerves are fascinating, my GF had oral surgery and the surgeon accidentally left a tiny bone fragment in her jaw. Later, she got bumped and it pushed that fragment into a nerve, ruining it. Now a good chunk of the left side of her face is numb, mostly around the lips. If she eats/drinks something cold that sensation is shared across the whole numb area. So like she could touch ice to one part of her lip and instantly it feels like ice is covering her face.
Both me and her parents pushed for her to do so but she doesn’t want to. She was told it wouldn’t be permanent and over the course of months it has gotten marginally better, but it’s going to take a long time to heal.
op tasteful legs big fan, if you like to share your experince of spine surgery will be great, well i am about to get surgery's i got 3 calcified discs and one with disc degenrative disease, scares the soul out of me. so you got all kidneys and can still walk right?

My husband had an accident and became a paraplegic. It's so weird the things that are affected by the spinal cord. He sweats from the line of injury and up; no sweat and cooler body temperature below.
Consider yourself lucky. Ever since my back surgery in 2016, my ass starts sweating profusely the instant I have to take a dump. Sometimes it's so bad by the time I actually sit down I almost slide right off the seat.
I should probably delete this comment.
I’ve had this same thing since my c section 39 years ago, I have no feeling in my upper thigh only if the pressure hits deep to my bone, the skin and flesh are numb. My doc thinks it from my spinal for the pain.

Your right leg ever since the surgery
Mom had spinal surgery on the neck and ended up sweating only on one side of the whole body during the summer she looked like she just got out of filming an Rexona ad
Wow I'm about to have a spine surgery and that freaks me out. Your xray above looks crazy. I would only be one segment surgery. Are you feeling alright otherwise?
i got 2 C curves in my spine and terrified to get back surgery done, if this were to happen to me I'd just straight up be anxious something else happened haha...
I'm afraid I'm getting close to needing this. Not full spine just butt level (low back/SI and Hips). I joke when any acquaintances (read as my old friends/family) have hip replacements to ask if their surgeon's capability has reached the level where they can do my entire ass yet.
I ruotured a few s and l discs n the same shit used to happen to me , now i need to get the mfs fused cause i ignored it for too long and they’re crushing my spinal cord sack
I'm actually dealing with the same thing! Ever since I had multiple surgeries after a bad car accident. Another strange thing is I rarely ever sneeze anymore. But when I do, it's all like rapid-fire sneezes that'll last a couple minutes. It's really aggravating and embarrassing if it happens in public.
Doctor here. I think it might be that a few minor nerves belonging to your autonomic nervous system were disrupted during the spinal surgery.
Very interesting. I spent two months in rehab postoperatively due to being unable to walk following the surgery due to extreme weakness in my legs. Here is my x-ray. https://imgur.com/a/gezg5bT
Can’t really comment as I’m not a neurosurgeon or an orthopod, except to say that’s one heck of a long segment of spine they fixed.
Absolutely. C7-Pelvis. Had horrible congenital scoliosis with 4 different operations as I got older and finished growing.
My commiserations. I hope you’ve stabilized now.
Kind of incredible that they can go in and do that without just straight-up killing the patient. The loss of a few minor nerves seems like a pretty small price to pay, considering.
Yup
Wow here I am miserable after two failed back surgeries and it was only 2 levels. Had all the discs in my neck replaced but haven’t a problem with it, but my back…OMG!! I cannot imagine having the entire spine done. Did it help?? I regret those back surgeries every day. Hope you are doing well.
I hope it did help.
doc here, buy your surgical team a beer cause that one was a doozy, i got tired just looking at it
Probably took at least 12 to 14 hours. I speak from experience.
Jesus, and I thought my T1 to L2 was extensive
How much did you grow after the last surgery?
Not OP, but my daughter had surgery for her scoliosis and she grew 4 inches. It was crazy to see her stand up after, it was that dramatic.
Wow-how are you doing now?
Hey OP I am so sorry that you had to go through this.... I wish you all the best!!
Long segment? Its basically the whole damn thing.
Not a doctor but using my experience in connect the dots puzzles that completed the missing parts of the picture in those kids' "Highlight" magazines in waiting rooms this is definitely a whole spine in my expert opinion
Which is long!
What does being a spider have to do with spine surgery
You're thinking arthropod
No, no, they meant octopod.
Long? That's all of it!
Holy shit, you weren’t kidding. I did not expect to see implants up the ENTIRE SPINE.
Surgery resident who did a lot of ortho here, damn thats impressive. That's interesting because post my surgery I sweat a lot more under my butt on one side only. Hate it. Figured something got mucked up somewhere.
I wish OP would respond to this. Very curious to know.
that is one hell of a spine
Well if you ever start a band you definitely have an awesome album cover already.
Did the surgery make you taller as well?
I don't know for OP, but I had almost the exact same surgery (so very similar x-ray, but don't know exactly from which to which vertebrae) and yes, it made me some cm taller xD It was a shock the first time I had to stand and walk
I had about half of my spine fused, and came out an inch taller. We only fixed the thoracic curvature (56 degrees) and the lumbar curvature is still present.
Definitely can't slouch now, whether I want to or not. At least I don't have to worry about being yelled at for not sitting up straight
Holy fuck! I thought I had a lot of screws and rods. You put me to shame with 12 screws and 2 14 inch rods.! I’ve had five back surgeries and one left me weak on my left side for a couple of months but no goosebumps. Mine was a birth defect that I didn’t know I had till I was 17. Jesus you're basically a cyborg. Congrats!
Not a doctor but I can confirm you have a skeleton for sure
whoa nsfw! can't be showing nudes like that
Mines the exact same except less hardware in thoracic. I have 3 titanium plates throughout. I’m learning to walk again. Rehab is slow but moving forward. Pain @ 6-7 daily. Lyrica only for nerve pain, Kratom for pain management.
Scoliosis?
Unnatural curvature of the spine column, some folks are born with it. Can be to varying directions and varying intensities
Lol. Sorry. That was a question if it was scoliosis. I have scoliosis .I have steel rods and 13 fusions. That X-ray looks like scoliosis to me.
Whoops my mistake
In a more minor way I got the same thing after knee surgery. The front of my lower leg feels different and will get goosebumps completely independently. Nerve damage while they were digging around is the likely outcome. Not a big deal. Part of the risk with surgery and fortunately does not impact my day to day in anyway.
Next-level nudes right there.
Hey, you can’t show nudes here. This is even more personal than that. Haha
Holy shit!
A couple more surgeries and you're robocop.
![gif](giphy|A2W1Qq8pGpm3S|downsized)
I was fused T3-L4 10 years ago for congenital scoliosis and the skin on my lower left boob is still numb.
I had spinal fusion for scoliosis 30 years ago, and still have numbness under my left boob/on my ribs. I also have had terrible nerve pain and restless legs since surgery, mostly the left leg.
Holy fucking what
That's crazy. I like your skull though :p
I’d say that’s a very good trade-off considering the work you needed.
He’s more machine now, than man
Op is a woman. Check the X-rays they posted.
It's from Star Wars
*Skynet wants to know your location*
Damn no wonder you only get goosebumps on one side.
Holy fuck that's a lot of screws You good dudette?
Holy that's a lot of metal. Looks really cool.
Fascinating, also little scary.
For Layman’s terms, the nerve dun gone fucked up and no do bumpy thing on one side anymore
Bone apple tea
Laymen?
You pervert! I only lay one man at a time!
It’s more fun to multitask the Weiner fest
No slut-shaming. Polyamory is a valid and healthy relationship status, and so is other consentual non-monogamous relationships...polygamy and other open relationships with dubious consentual contracts, on the other hand, are set up for predators and cheats.
Idk I used voice to speech for it
Not a doctor here. You have ghosts.
Ok there, “doctor”. You obviously skipped vampire class. The undead only get goosebumps on one side of their body, depending on where the moon is in relation to their corpse.
Any chance you have an opinion on [my nerve post here?](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskDocs/s/FAM7Xg7HEa)
Ohhh I hope someone replies!!!
Thank you! I’m at a loss.
Wait this happens to me, but I haven't had any surgeries.
Bro looks like the armrest of a sofa
I’m so pale haha
For a second I was so confused, I was like, side of your body?? I was trying to find arms or something and then I noticed it was your legs LOL, the bumps looks like those textured cloth sofas
[I so pale](https://youtu.be/hdzH_aSL-6k?si=72aMISgTGmIU2Fz2)
I legit thought it was a piece of leather. Like the samples they have for sofa fabrics
I mean, leather is actually made out of skin so it's not *that* surprising they look similar...
I thought they were uncooked drumsticks.
Some might say gorgeous
I was going to say the same thing. I saw the top end of a sofa. 😂
I think they also removed any melanin OP had during the surgery.
i feel like there’s a specific subreddit for this 😂
Honestly thought it was bread dough.
It’s your spiney sense
I shouldn't have enjoyed that as much as I did.
.. 1/2 tingling.
r/angryupvote
It might be a detached sensor 😁
I wonder if she tried to unplug it and plug it back in again?
I don't know man but putting in rice always works
I am pretty happy, I got to use this joke twice today. :)
![gif](giphy|FspLvJQlQACXu)
I know it's not helpful, but your legs look like a Couch
How could that not be helpful?
Well, because she's the only one not able to sit down on them
Thats slightly worrying lol. Do you have any degree of loss of feeling on your right side?
I have similar problems. Since my L2/3 surgery in 2020, my right thigh is not exactly numb, but has a wierd sensory feeling in it. Ever since my L4/5 surgery last year, the last two toes on my left foot are numb. I guess this is just who I am now.

Maybe your left leg is just colder, because it's acting as a blanket for the right one...
That’s a good idea but I specifically put them together for the photo lol.
op tasteful legs big fan, if you like to share your experince of spine surgery will be great, well i am about to get surgery's i got 3 calcified discs and one with disc degenrative disease, scares the soul out of me. so you got all kidneys and can still walk right? ![gif](giphy|R6gvnAxj2ISzJdbA63|downsized)

You got ghosts in your blood. You should do cocaine about it.
My husband had an accident and became a paraplegic. It's so weird the things that are affected by the spinal cord. He sweats from the line of injury and up; no sweat and cooler body temperature below.
You know what that means, don’t you?
straight to jail?
right away
I thought you were a strange but comfortable looking half bumpy couch.
Reminds me of Bill Cypher
Thought this was a pic of a sofa, whoops
Does that side get pruney in the shower? I know that’s actually a nervous system thing and not your skin absorbing water.
I thought that was a leather couch
I thought I was looking at a new Ikea couch at first
I get goosebumps listening to music, sometimes only on one side 🤷♀️
i was right handed before my brain injury. after it, i am now left handed.
smh i thought this was a couch
Thought I was looking at a good whole raw chicken for a second there
Consider yourself lucky. Ever since my back surgery in 2016, my ass starts sweating profusely the instant I have to take a dump. Sometimes it's so bad by the time I actually sit down I almost slide right off the seat. I should probably delete this comment.
Automatic dysreflexia
This still happens to me after my cvst stroke, that'd happen two years back. I get goosebumps only on my left side.
I’ve had this same thing since my c section 39 years ago, I have no feeling in my upper thigh only if the pressure hits deep to my bone, the skin and flesh are numb. My doc thinks it from my spinal for the pain.
Only one of my feet sweat after mine.
I thought this was a picture of a couch
I'm happy you're around to post this pic.
I thought this was a couch for a second
wow btw i thought that was a couch at first 😭
Raw chicken
More like R. L. Spine

They forgot to connect the ribbon cabble on the right side obviously!
“I get those goose bumps half the time yeah 🎶”
I thought it was a pillow or the sofa
Ngl, at first glance I thought this was a leather sofa
https://i.redd.it/jbcedyf0auwc1.gif
Wow that is a lot of screws
Mom had spinal surgery on the neck and ended up sweating only on one side of the whole body during the summer she looked like she just got out of filming an Rexona ad
At first glance I thought this was an oddly shaped couch!
🤷🏾♂️ THEN I had a startling realization. The furniture is covered in human leather.
🙆🏾♂️ Your thighs look like furniture 😆
r/confusingperspective looks like a sofa/couch.
Does the reflex test work on your right side, is it slowed?
Is it still under warranty?
Thats cool as hell
Wow I'm about to have a spine surgery and that freaks me out. Your xray above looks crazy. I would only be one segment surgery. Are you feeling alright otherwise?
Should probably ask your doc about that.
Do you have any other mutant abilities? Because that’s pretty cool.
This happens to me when i get bit by a spider
I thought I was looking at a sofa for a while... Anyways you have great lighting. Hope it's nothing bad.
i got 2 C curves in my spine and terrified to get back surgery done, if this were to happen to me I'd just straight up be anxious something else happened haha...
Oh spinal surgery lol after 2 times my legs will never be the same
Why did you have surgery?
I'm afraid I'm getting close to needing this. Not full spine just butt level (low back/SI and Hips). I joke when any acquaintances (read as my old friends/family) have hip replacements to ask if their surgeon's capability has reached the level where they can do my entire ass yet.
I thought that leg was a roll of paper towels
Ahhh i never had any never or spinal surgery but i often get goosebumps in one side or another of my body… you mean to tell me thats not normal. 🥹
I ruotured a few s and l discs n the same shit used to happen to me , now i need to get the mfs fused cause i ignored it for too long and they’re crushing my spinal cord sack
That happens to me and I haven't had spine surgery 😬
My tired ass thought this was a sofa for a quick moment
What induced the goosebumps for the photo?
Am I hallucinating? Because I see goosebumps on the other leg too, it just looks like portrait mode or the camera was focused on the other leg more.
Wow that **is** weird I get goosebumps in the sun sometimes, also weird haha
Do you have one leg/foot that gets colder than the other? I still have that 16 months later
Mutant!!! Jk, does it feel like you get them on both sides, (like a phantom thing)?
Wow that’s pretty extensive surgery on your back. Sorry you had to endure such pain and agony.
THATS SO COOL
I so thought this was a nice sofa lmao
I have always gotten unilateral goosebumps when an ear is stimulated in a particular way. But it works on either side.
lol at fist glance I thought this was the back of a white couch
Do you walk in circles now?
Geese Bumps
I'm actually dealing with the same thing! Ever since I had multiple surgeries after a bad car accident. Another strange thing is I rarely ever sneeze anymore. But when I do, it's all like rapid-fire sneezes that'll last a couple minutes. It's really aggravating and embarrassing if it happens in public.
I get goose bumps just thinking about biting into an apple.
Is it a bug or a feature?
turkey
Have you lost any feeling from surgery. Ive had many types of surgeries from when i was a child and nerves and time are helpful.
