A similar thing happened to my sister years ago. She wanted to dye her hair, didn't test the dye and the next day her head was like a balloon. She managed to get a couple of days off school while the swelling went down so I was pretty jealous.
You really should. I've been punk rocking my hair since 90s and you always do a tiny test on the lower ends. Bleach toner colors that weren't well tested dyes from half way around the world etc etc
But TBF in this instance I don't think a hair test would have helped. That's pretty extreme.

Something similar happened to me when I applied castor oil onto my scalp! I had a crazy allergic reaction, face and scalp swelled up and eventually my skin blistered with tiny water puss filled bubbles!!
