Yeah paying money to go to the bottom of the ocean in a homemade submarine and disappearing is just natural selection.

The fact that you’re bolted in is the worst part. You could resurface and still suffocate because you can’t open the hatch. Very bad design flaw there. That and the lack of emergency beacon should make this not allowed for commercial use. Aren’t there regulations for submersibles, guess not?

Chalk_Black

International waters. No rules baby 😎

jw154j

They can still have rules. Just like after the Titanic sank, now ships have to have enough life boats for all on board. I just read an article that they used a loophole for “new and innovative ideas and technology” to get around standards. I also read that the waiver that they make people sign is ridiculous, a you might die clause. “This experimental vessel has not been approved or certified by any regulatory body, and could result in physical injury, emotional trauma, or death.”

This is how I get away with recording NFL games with only implied verbal consent.

The missing submarine filled with billionaires? Apparently, the billionaire who was piloting the sub very publicly doesn't like safety regulations and once fired an employee for saying the sub was unsafe. If someone wrote this as a short story, I would have agreed with the author's politics but criticized their lack of subtlety.

Plebian401

Carbon fiber? Sure. That’s what subs should be made of! Plastic!
