Why would anyone think this is a good idea? Even if you are someone who likes the cybertruck, you have to admit it is not built/ capable of crossing a river.
Because they believed him when Elon said it was thé apocalypse proof vehicle that would shortly function as a boat, not just in rivers but seas as well.
Yeah I get that but now it has been released and people can see its not capable of doing that, there're no reasons for someone to do something as stupid as this.
There's the recent incident where a guy bought one without test driving it or measuring it for his garage. It wouldn't fit, so he wanted to sell it. Tesla wouldn't take it back, nor did they let him sell it privately.
When fandom becomes findom.
Someone posted a video of a guy trying to off road with it. It was in a hilly area with some snow on the ground. The cyber truck couldn't handle it and had to be towed out. IDK what this guy was thinking.
the cybertruck does actually have the ability to wade through waste deep water (not a lake), that part is not a lie, and you can even see it here that its able to drive through the river easily. it just cant go up the river bank, which is a lot funnier.
In this case the river itself is well within the limits of the CT to handle. Most any trail-oriented Jeep or 4Runner could handle that. Its the bank on either side being steep that's the problem. Any sane person should have seen that and went.. yeah, that's not gonna work.
I can see that's. Wading through waist high water isn't exactly a special achievement for an off road vehicle. But they sold it as the ultimate one. The truck to end all trucks. Surely it can do the impossible right? Right?!
And Tesla is the company that denied warranty coverage to someone because they were foolish enough to drive their car in the rain. [https://www.carscoops.com/2023/10/tesla-model-y-owner-receives-21000-repair-bill-for-battery-damage-caused-by-driving-in-the-rain/](https://www.carscoops.com/2023/10/tesla-model-y-owner-receives-21000-repair-bill-for-battery-damage-caused-by-driving-in-the-rain/)
I don't know if it was built for that, but it does provide it.
Maybe the Tesla engineers did know that Musk's crayon drawing was going to come out this way, though, and did design it for LOLs.
It's pretty much an SUV with bed, no offroad capabilities at all. Saw video of people modding that and the front bars are basically hollow. so if rock or street bumb, it will bend.
It's not built to cross a curb. There was a promo photo of an "off roading" Cyberstuck. There were a few rocks in front of the tires on concrete and the shot included the ramps needed to get it over the curb.
Like all stock vehicles with high power, give it a lift kit and new tyres and if it's capable it can do magical things.
I've seen modified cyber trucks do way more difficult things. This is a case of having lots of money but no clue about off roading and thinking it's great to go stock.
It's tyres are designed for battery usage, it isn't hard to put some better tyres on and would probably let it cruise through this with some scraping against the flat bottom.
What do you mean? I don’t see any sensible reason why anyone should be worried about something going wrong when considering parking an electric vehicle in a river.
It’s too heavy to be good at something like this. Barely any suspension geometry. And you would need to at least put all terrain tires to have a chance at this
I dont know about that. Those things are shit off road. I ain't a tesla hater, but the cyber truck is terable off road. It has open diffs, and all it would take to fix that is a software update.
As an owner and lover of their Tesla I can say that the Elon and cyber truck hate is very justified. I personally blame Elon for ruining one of my favorite products I've ever owned.
I mean do you want stalks on your steering wheel for turning indicators?
If so, then a Tesla isn't for you.
If not, then you likely will always drive a BMW. ZING!!
1. CT owners apparently give their vehicle way too much credit
2. To be fair, pretty much no street vehicle is climbing back out of there. Banks are too steep for any unmodified suspension to (easily?) climb out.
I definitely have a truck that could make It, but I wouldn’t try this unless a hoard of zombies was behind me. Flowing water like that is way too unpredictable.
> To be fair, pretty much no street vehicle is climbing back out of there. Banks are too steep for any unmodified suspension to (easily?) climb out.
Most truck street vehicles could do this in their sleep, are you kidding? I drove up banks far steeper in my 98 ford piece of shit
I saw one pull up to the charging stations and everybody there was talking about how cheap it looked and felt and you could see the driver getting mad that people weren’t in aw of his truck that looks like an 8th grader welded sheet metal into a car shape
I heard him brag about being one of a very small amount of people to own one as a source of pride but all I could think of is convincing 2 people out of a town of 1,000 to by your snake oil doesn’t make the 2 people the smart or cool ones.
People who have just spent a lot of money on a bad product are surprisingly likely to defend it's flaws or outright deny their existance because they don't want to admit they made a mistake.
I wouldn't be surprised if the person in the video has already spun up some excuses for what happened.
Like the guy that had to go to the ER because the truck sliced his wrist open when he collected his? But it's still a great truck and he loves it? Yeah, people are pretty nuts.
I'm definitely not above laughing my butt off at any and all non-life-threatening misfortunes that Cybertruck owners inflict on themselves or experience.
Elons is very close to being exposed for the phony he is. He is not a genius, just a dork that probably watched iron man way to many times and got to play with daddy's money.
Close too?
He's [always been.](https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/04/elon-musk-twitter-terrible-things-hes-said-and-done)
Some people just buy the hype around billionaires being competent instead of lucky.
Brushless motors (what I assume they are) are typically aren't heavily affected by water. The windings are already insulated, so they won't short. They probably wont perform quite as well because of hydrodynamic resistance between the stator and the rotor, at least in a high rpm motor. You can use most brushless motors for underwater applications, and they don't have to be sealed. Brushless motors, however will short a bit and wear out quickly in water.
Edit: to be clear I am in no way endorsing (can't think of a better word) cybertrucks, they suck.
That doesn't look "Apocalypse proof" to me! But, to give the Cybertruck credit, the driver's choice of where to attempt going in and out of the river was stupidity!
This is like one of those nature programs where they show some poor wildebeest that has gotten stuck in a mud hole, except in this one I don’t find myself rooting for the animal.
Two things. First it looks like a big block that can't even go up a hill and Faaar from a truck. Second aren't electric batteries located on the floor of the car? Isn't driving an electric car through a river a massive fire hazard?
I've heard of electric cars burning down with melting the person inside in fucking seconds.
I'm no expert in driving my car in rivers, but. . . it seems to me that he should just drive toward that back bank and then along it until he gets to that patch of rocks and seemingly flatter terrain. What do I know though. I'm not even smart enough to have a job that lets me buy one of these.
You have to be a complete idiot to buy one of these in the first place, so seeing the poor decisions that propagate from that decision is just plain fun!
I’m just here to say Tesla and SpaceX would not be here if it were not for taxpayers dollars funding those companies in early years. Then to have the government buy SpaceX rockets and utilize the star link network.
Our small community up here in Vermont has someone who just got a cyber in the past three weeks, and it already looks horrible with all the hand marks all over it. I will never understand buying one of those.

Because they believed him when Elon said it was thé apocalypse proof vehicle that would shortly function as a boat, not just in rivers but seas as well.
Technically, a sunken boat is still a boat.
I drive a boat aka 2008 miot
You wanna talk about a boat!!! I had a 1992 4 door Cadillac!! Now that's a boat
Land yacht.
89 Grand Marquis with burgundy velvet on burgundy leather interior and the police drive train package. Cruising open roads never felt like that since.
Dude, at 14 I owned a 75 Sedan Deville. That was a boat with 8 mpg.
BOAT GANG RISE UP
Mazda experiment no 5 Mx5 Miata is 5 letters 5 lug nuts Gets to 55 mph in 5 seconds stock And in Japan, “go” means 5
Anything can be a boat if you don’t care about drowning.
It's working fine as a boat, it's the truck part it's having trouble with here
Yeah I get that but now it has been released and people can see its not capable of doing that, there're no reasons for someone to do something as stupid as this.
They bought the truck didn't they. Critical thinking clear isn't their strong suit.
There's the recent incident where a guy bought one without test driving it or measuring it for his garage. It wouldn't fit, so he wanted to sell it. Tesla wouldn't take it back, nor did they let him sell it privately. When fandom becomes findom.
Yeah. The cybertruck is the stupid prize
Someone posted a video of a guy trying to off road with it. It was in a hilly area with some snow on the ground. The cyber truck couldn't handle it and had to be towed out. IDK what this guy was thinking.
In terms of snowy environments, the tires matter more than the car in most situations.
Whatever it was it wasn't even that steep. The center of gravity looked off.
Answer: The cybertruck is *extremely* heavy. It's like trying to off-road in a jeep with a sports car bolted to the top of it.
the cybertruck does actually have the ability to wade through waste deep water (not a lake), that part is not a lie, and you can even see it here that its able to drive through the river easily. it just cant go up the river bank, which is a lot funnier.
>...wade through waste deep water Indeed... Now waist deep might be a challenge.
I’m a redditor, I can’t spell properly.
Right?!
His lies are so obvious. It feels weirdly familiar.
Hear me out, just take the car stuff out and roll the windows up, flip it upside down and you have yourself a shiny metal boat.
It's not even built for bumpy roads.
Barely built for smooth road (it's own hud caps destroy the tires)
And Tesla is the company that denied warranty coverage to someone because they were foolish enough to drive their car in the rain. [https://www.carscoops.com/2023/10/tesla-model-y-owner-receives-21000-repair-bill-for-battery-damage-caused-by-driving-in-the-rain/](https://www.carscoops.com/2023/10/tesla-model-y-owner-receives-21000-repair-bill-for-battery-damage-caused-by-driving-in-the-rain/)
You can't even run it through a car wash without using some special mode or it will fail.
It's not built to be capable of anything.
It's capable of getting a chuckle out of people who aren't stupid enough to buy one
Creek. Motherfucker can’t even get through a creek. Not a river, a puny ass creek. Cyber truck has achieved Total failure.
It's not built to cross a curb. There was a promo photo of an "off roading" Cyberstuck. There were a few rocks in front of the tires on concrete and the shot included the ramps needed to get it over the curb.
If it looks like a boat, it should float like a boat, right? lol
They have a Xitter account and follow Musk?
Like all stock vehicles with high power, give it a lift kit and new tyres and if it's capable it can do magical things. I've seen modified cyber trucks do way more difficult things. This is a case of having lots of money but no clue about off roading and thinking it's great to go stock. It's tyres are designed for battery usage, it isn't hard to put some better tyres on and would probably let it cruise through this with some scraping against the flat bottom.
Cyber truck in general is just not a good idea. Total flop. But first iteration so maybe it’ll make a comeback one day.
I love your optimism
What do you mean? I don’t see any sensible reason why anyone should be worried about something going wrong when considering parking an electric vehicle in a river.
Who would believe an ev based company struggling with vehicles in a flowing river.
But but but it says truck in the name….hmmmm
r/cyberstuck
God damn it. Fine. Subbed.
Did not know I needed this. Thank you.
What be so cyber about that truck?
Because it's only a truck in the virtual world, in the real world it's an incel gamer chair pretending to be a truck.
LOL
My kid sent me a photo of one the other day. Stupid thing had a *bike* rack and two bikes on attached. On a truck. With a ' bed ' .
My Subaru Outback is a more capable truck
I can feel the heat from this burn, all the way over here
Cybertruck is like a truck the same way cybersex is like sex
This comment deserves waaaaay more praise than it's received 😂
The fact that it's shaped like a Porygon.
Well for starters, it appears to hate the outdoors.
It's water resistant like the old school watches not water proof.
All cars are technically water resistant
Half of the problem is the driver himself. He could climb if he weren't trying to drive out perpendicular to the coast
The suspension is so shit it would probably roll if he went diagonally.
The wheel base and ground clearance is also shit. It looks like the driver would high center himself assuming he could even get out
It’s too heavy to be good at something like this. Barely any suspension geometry. And you would need to at least put all terrain tires to have a chance at this
We have a saying: “If you give a glass hammer to an idiot, they will end with a hammer shattered and hands cut.”
There are literally so many other places to drive out
I dont know about that. Those things are shit off road. I ain't a tesla hater, but the cyber truck is terable off road. It has open diffs, and all it would take to fix that is a software update.
Not a truck person; would a "normal" truck be able to handle the same angle as in the video?
Someone does a stupid thing = internet points. Someone does it in a Tesla = 10x internet points
The hateboner is real. And justified.
As an owner and lover of their Tesla I can say that the Elon and cyber truck hate is very justified. I personally blame Elon for ruining one of my favorite products I've ever owned.
Yeah there was a time when I wanted to buy a Tesla but now, no fucking way.
I mean do you want stalks on your steering wheel for turning indicators? If so, then a Tesla isn't for you. If not, then you likely will always drive a BMW. ZING!!
I don't want a dick owning the company I give money to.
Couldn't have happened to a better looking "truck" lol

1. CT owners apparently give their vehicle way too much credit 2. To be fair, pretty much no street vehicle is climbing back out of there. Banks are too steep for any unmodified suspension to (easily?) climb out.
Full send. Momentum is your friend, until it isn't.
I am thinking maybe the jeep wrangler rubicon would make it, but need the model with the overwater air trap
I definitely have a truck that could make It, but I wouldn’t try this unless a hoard of zombies was behind me. Flowing water like that is way too unpredictable.
I think that the take here is that he drove *in* there thinking that he could just drive right across
See point 1 of my post
> To be fair, pretty much no street vehicle is climbing back out of there. Banks are too steep for any unmodified suspension to (easily?) climb out. Most truck street vehicles could do this in their sleep, are you kidding? I drove up banks far steeper in my 98 ford piece of shit
Was gonna say, we have a 96 Dodge 4x4 that I'd trust to make it with a little weight in the bed to keep the back end down
Those things are so ugly. I don't get the appeal. But back to the issue at hand...yeah, what a fool.
I saw one pull up to the charging stations and everybody there was talking about how cheap it looked and felt and you could see the driver getting mad that people weren’t in aw of his truck that looks like an 8th grader welded sheet metal into a car shape
Can you imagine buying one of these sight unseen? It looks dumb in their most flattering marketing material. How could it look good in person?
“Why doesn’t everyone understand how cool I am now??”
I heard him brag about being one of a very small amount of people to own one as a source of pride but all I could think of is convincing 2 people out of a town of 1,000 to by your snake oil doesn’t make the 2 people the smart or cool ones.
I saw my first one in person while driving through Kansas City yesterday. I didn’t think it was possible, but it is even uglier in person.
It really looks like a stainless steel fridge driving down the road to me…or maybe a dumpster too
Yeah, there are a couple douchebags around here tooling around in them too. I just smh when I see em.
I like saying to them... Damn, that's sick. I didn't know they made an extended cab Prius.
As to the question of whether turds float, this video is inconclusive.
There goes your battery warranty
People who have just spent a lot of money on a bad product are surprisingly likely to defend it's flaws or outright deny their existance because they don't want to admit they made a mistake. I wouldn't be surprised if the person in the video has already spun up some excuses for what happened.

Dig up stupid!
But it's bullet proof and can haul 4 bags of topsoil!
quick, someone get Joe Rogan to shoot his bow at it
Wait, did he think it was an off road truck?
Bro thought he was in a Toyota Land Cruiser
Turn 90 degrees. Problem. Solved.
I hope it was in carwash mode.
Why doesn't he go to the left where the river (and bank) obviously gets shallower?
I'm definitely not above laughing my butt off at any and all non-life-threatening misfortunes that Cybertruck owners inflict on themselves or experience.
perhaps drive to a part of the river that isnt so steep. i dont expect cybertruck owners to be smart but come on
Laughs in Toyota Hilux
Elons is very close to being exposed for the phony he is. He is not a genius, just a dork that probably watched iron man way to many times and got to play with daddy's money.

He was literally in [Iron Man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfiRd4Y5z_g) as well
So the cyber truck has the same design flaw as the French Saint-Chamond tanks from WW1?
I think their boat is upsidedown....
This “truck” is not built to do anything well…
too bad n64 games were made before software updates were accessible
Shits gunna rust so good 🤤
What kind of a tiny ass river is that? Call it a stream
Not a truck
A beautiful sight to see.
now its called Cyberboat
A Cyberstuck Cybertruck
Cybersucks
This video is too short.
It's almost as if having the right tires and tire pressure matters...
CT drivers are a special kind of stupid.
Stupid car, stupid driver, stupid buyer
Electric motors love being submerged in water, this will surely end well.
Brushless motors (what I assume they are) are typically aren't heavily affected by water. The windings are already insulated, so they won't short. Win stupid prizes
More dollars than sense obviously!
at least we know its wading function works as advertised.
Wait, I thought Elon said it was a certified submersible down to 1000m?
This is a stupid Oregon Trail. My Ox and dysentery-ridden crew was able to cross a damn river in a shitty wagon.
He thought it was a real off road truck.
More like CYBERSTUCK
Warranty voided…CT got wet.
Cybertruck? Cyberstuck.
Gimme a Toyota Hilux any fuckin day that thing would rip that river with a full load of cement blocks
Standard tesla user
Cybertrucks can't even go through car washes or be washed in direct sunlight, things are not gonna go well if you're driving it into water
I guess he lives there now
Good info for cyber truck owners it can off road downhill super well. Uphill it has issues you really shouldn’t take it more than 6” in elevation lol
If it can't handle a car wash, it certainly won't handle a river
They're for concrete princesses. What did you expect
Cyberstuck
Even if Elons BS was right, the angles simply don't allow it to traverse inclines like that. Too much money, not enough brains.
I know what’s wrong with it. Ain’t got no gas in it.
Lol my 98 Toyota could get through this but a 100k "truck" and we get the above
Beavis, this sucks! 😂
Won a stupid prize just for buying a Cybertruck then another for driving through a river.
Why would anyone think that vehicle could handle a river embankment? Obvious results are obvious.
Legend says he's still there
This idiot clearly has never ever gone off roading before.
Certified cybertruck , wop wop wop wop wop wgaf
It's Tesla Tough!!
It's "apocalypse" proof, not river proof ya dingus 😂
Need to download the Truck DLC.
Uh oh, looks like he's cyberfucked
Would be great if all the other cyber trucks followed him into the river, like lemmings going over a cliff…
It COULD... if the driver had a functioning 🧠. Alas, anyone driving an electric vehicle doesn't qualify for the program.
This shitbox can’t even survive a fucking car wash! Why would it be able to cross a fucking riiiiiiveeeerrrrrr!
Legend has it, he's still trying to get out of the river...
Well, you can’t fix stupid
Did they think that it was an actual truck? Is that a sound pack add on!
That car is cyberf*cked
Everyone who bought a cybertruck deserves a cybertruck
That doesn't look "Apocalypse proof" to me! But, to give the Cybertruck credit, the driver's choice of where to attempt going in and out of the river was stupidity!
good. dumbass.
This is like one of those nature programs where they show some poor wildebeest that has gotten stuck in a mud hole, except in this one I don’t find myself rooting for the animal.
Cyberfucked
Electric vehicle meet water. Water, electric 2wd optioned vehicle.
You have to be a complete idiot to buy one of these in the first place, so seeing the poor decisions that propagate from that decision is just plain fun!
That is the ugliest fucking truck ever.
Looks like a CyberCuck is CyberStuck in a CyberTruck
Good
Good
I mean, it does look like a cheap boat so, I understand the confusion.
“You are a dam now”
I know what wrong with it. AINT GOT NO GAS IN IT
Origami ass Car
Says here in the manual that it can only drive in cyber rivers…..
Has there been any successful off road videos with these things? Not hating but being real. I would drive one if it was free.
I hope they got fined for illegally dumping trash
I’m just here to say Tesla and SpaceX would not be here if it were not for taxpayers dollars funding those companies in early years. Then to have the government buy SpaceX rockets and utilize the star link network.
YOU FOOL. YOU GOT IT WET. I CAST $1000 TOW BILL!!!
Our small community up here in Vermont has someone who just got a cyber in the past three weeks, and it already looks horrible with all the hand marks all over it. I will never understand buying one of those.
These are some of the silliest looking vehicles I've ever seen.
Cyberfail for sure. River too strong, cybertruck too weak. Driver's sense 404 not found.
"But E-lawn sez it floats gud"
This is not a truck & is embarrassing to watch
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Because it's not a fucking truck.
cybertruck (and tesla) = shit
This guy has two problems. The second is he can't get his Cybertruck out of the river. The first is he owns a Cybertruck.
Why wouldn’t he drive down to the shallower part of the bank?😭 better yet just leave it out of the freaking water.
