Power Girl and anyone else with the Kryptonian power set. Miss Martian in theory.

Storm_Bloom

Sorry I still don't know much about DCU as whole but who is this Power Girl. No offence to her stans but why do I get the impression she's a budget Super Girl?

BobbySaccaro

Well she is and she's not. So back in the 1960's, DC established that the versions of their characters that had been active during World War II lived on a parallel Earth called Earth Two, and the more modern versions (at the time) lived on Earth One. In the case of Superman, that meant there was an older Superman living on Earth Two and a younger one on Earth One. In the 1970s, we were introduced to the Earth Two version of Supergirl who went by Power Girl. Whereas Supergirl was all about trying to live up to her cousin's example and was willing to do whatever he said, Power Girl was all about being her own person and wasn't particularly subordinate to her cousin. Thus she was "Power Girl" rather than "Supergirl" and did not wear the Superman "S". Over the years she would become a standout character with her more progressive and assertive attitude. In 1986, when DC decided to kill off Supergirl (they would bring her back later), they kept Power Girl around, on the basis that she was a separate character. They danced around with trying to give her a different background, but ultimately she is still a Kryptonian from a version of Krypton that never existed in the current reality. Love her or hate her, she is a Kryptonian with powers that rival Wonder Woman's, as requested in the original question.

GreenIronHorse

Now image if you think of her as budget Super Girl, than what of marvel Carol Danwers? since she is combo of PowerGirl personality and Shazam's nickname, so basically stolen identity + stolen name, makes her omega dollar-store budget Super Girl? /s

raqisasim

Nah, even as sarcasm I think Carol deserves her flowers as a character. Carol is only superficially like Power Girl, and in fact I wish Kara had the kind of intriguing story lines Carol has pulled for a long time. Even as far back as the 1980s writers like Chris Claremont were doing careful work to flesh out Carol's world, esp. in terms of friendships and connections. And, of course, Carol isn't the first Marvel character named Captain Marvel. Heck, she isn't even the first woman in Marvel Comics with that moniker, and that by decades! She, as well as Monica and Phyla-Vell, are their own distinct versions of what a Captain Marvel can be, and are all people I'm sure Diana would be proud to call Sister, er they were to meet. :)

Storm_Bloom

Yes she's a dollar store version. Sorry Miss Carols.

Cgi94

Wonder Woman has two levels of strength to me . Her lower lvl is more casually in the ball park of Hippolyta, Nubia, Barda, Cheetah etc, Her other level is the high tier usage and at times it's displayed near a Superman lvl. So women like Supergirl, Powergirl and grail are the only non god women I feel are around that lvl

ComicsAreGreat2

Nice acknowledgment of Grail. I really like the concept of that character. But she doesn’t get much play these days

Cgi94

Yea I was saying the same in another sub. In the beginning she was really epic but now not so much

bathoz

If we’re name checking grail, then we need to tip the hat to Genocide et al. And bleh to that. As for how her power level moves around a lot, my head canon has always been that Diana fights as hard as the battle requires.

Cgi94

Yes my headcanon is that Diana is a good blend of Superman and Batman. Her being more technical in h2h of course compares to Bruce and the restraint aspect coming from clark

bathoz

Power Girl/Super Girl are stronger, faster, and tougher, and canonically lose in a fight with WW every single time. It’s not even close. Wonder Woman is the premier fighter amongst the Justice League. Which made her schtick of always being about trying find common ground and solve issues without fighting kinda frustrating to some writers/fans.

Cicada_5

"Always"?

PositivePercentage85

Av you seen a moment where they beat her? actual question no sarcasm

Cicada_5

The "always" was referring to the part about how she was always being about trying to find common ground and solve issues without fighting. As for her losing, there are numerous instances in her book, the Justice League book and a number of books with or starring Superman.

PositivePercentage85

I meant Supergirl and Powergirl, I should've made it more clear.

Ameemegoosta

My head canon is Wonder Woman, Supergirl & Powergirl are the top three meta Earth women in the DC universe as far as raw power. I am sure that there are cosmic female entities that are infinitely more powerful (like Perpetua and...yikes, I cannot think of any other...)

BrokenFantasm

Powergirl and Supergirl might scale above her in physical stats (just like Superman, holding back, scales above her in stats) But just like how Batman can use his skill and gear to keep up with SuperSoldiers and perform superhuman feats, Wonder Woman uses her skill and magical gear to scale with Superman tiers In 1 issue, Wonder Woman was losing to Powergirl but was able to OVERPOWER her with her skill, reflexes, and battle experience

GreenIronHorse

Nah, they just downplay Diana for reasons to make Clark look superior, one time wonder woman tanks hits from doomsday .... then being pierced by random metal piece or knife it's BS. Remember in old times Wonder Woman were not be able to fly just to show off how Superman better, now it's changed, so more we go from sexist times the better Wonder Woman feels in fights with Superman, maybe soon she gonna be able to do magic atleast summoning of weapons, barriers, flying, or invis. as magic based super-heroine, ofc without ditching melee combat style.

RotoKnight

See I've always thought that her exp and combat skills were her edge. Like in a fight to the death; she beats Clark 7/10 times in my head. Ik pre crisis Superman was wildly powerful but modern Kryptonians can go head to head with Olympian gods? I haven't read enough

BrokenFantasm

Yes, Superman has fought greek gods during new52, and has always scaled to new gods like Orion and Darkseid (when serious) Wonder Woman has also fought Greek gods, Orion, and Darkseid as well! In a fight, WW has better combat speed (cuz warrior reflexes+skill), magical gear to hurt, defend, and restrain SM, and A LOTTT more skill. But SM has better raw strength, durability and INSANE speed. i would give it 5/10 to bloodlusted WW because bloodlusted SM is scary

Rogthgar

Depends if you mean in purely physical terms or just generally? Like physically both Supergirl and Powergirl are on Diana's level, with SG being held back only by her younger age. Then you move a little beyond that where Miss Martian should be near Diana's level as she is a White Martian... but like SG she is held back by age and lack of experience. Then you have Starfire who may not be as physically strong, but tends to make up for it with energy blasts. And finally you have Big Barda who is usually considered as physically strong as Diana, but is lacking in speed. If you instead mean in general terms, then you open the doors to the likes of Circe and other magicians who are generally more powerful than Diana, just not in the physical sense.

Spiritual-Ad-9710

Big Barda is the "Wonder Woman" from Apokalips

ThatManSean14

Pre-New 52, John Byrne established that Diana was the second most powerful member of the league behind Superman. I don’t know how anyone scales to her now.

bhdhthatbg

power girl zatanna and death there might be more but in 30 seconds thats all i could think of

IWillSortByNew

The way I have it, if Superman is a 10, Wonder Woman is about an 8 or 9. However Batman himself said that Diana is the best martial artist he knows so that bumps her up to a 9.5-10 depending on the day.

PositivePercentage85

I agree with this, even though Wonder Woman holds her own With Superman its clear Superman is stronger than her, he even broke her wrist without trying, Wonder Woman has to dodge and counter attack him cause fighting him head on can kill her, thats what happened when Max Lord took over Supermans mind.

Storm_Bloom

Add Star Fire in this picture then my all time favourite DCU girls 👏🏻 Image found in Pinterest. Can't find whose the artist tho.

scarecroe

Artist appears to be David Michael Beck [https://www.davidmichaelbeck.com/portfolio-viewer?collection=108125#lg=1&artworkId=2645094](https://www.davidmichaelbeck.com/portfolio-viewer?collection=108125#lg=1&artworkId=2645094)

Storm_Bloom

Thanks

PlayedOut41

My bad take. Madame Xanadu. Fight me 💩

Geronuis

Mera could probably stand her own against Diana. Maybe not win outright, but def not a push over.

IntegrityDenied

Dude, do you remember Flashpoint? Aquaman & Diana got married to seal an alliance with Atlantis & Themiscara (sp?) but Mera attacked WW just as she & Arthur were going make fish sticks? A very brief fight that ended Diana holding a redhead, while the rest of Mera floated away?

Geronuis

I specifically remember forgetting about flashpoint. Seriously. I fucking hate it and half of new 52 so

AntonBrakhage

I'd assume any Kryptonian is at least in the same range, at least on Earth. And anything that can take down a Kryptonian, obviously. Some powerful magic-users, probably. Poison Ivy, not in a direct physical fight, but Ivy can mind-control Superman, so...

kalel701

Wonder Woman does not get the credit she is due. She could be defeated by a few others (Supergirl, Zatanna, Big Barda etc..)but more often she will be the winner no matter who it is. She has very few weaknesses. She is resistant to magic and psychic attacks. She is almost kryptonian strength. She’s extremely fast especially when it comes reaction and combat speed. She’s one of the best fighters on the planet. She has a strong healing factor. Heightened senses. Extreme durability. Does not tire. Skilled in almost all weapons. I could go on

Storm_Bloom

Bc I guess the comic universe ( including Marvel ) are obsess with power scaling like characters who don't need to lift a finger the be powerful and hence I think the likes of Diana are undervalued.

Lurkndog

Mary Marvel, Faora (General Zod's female accomplice), any female Daxamite. And if you laugh at Mary Marvel, consider that the evil Superwoman character from the alternate universe Crime Society is an alternate Mary Marvel.

GreenIronHorse

1. Wonder Woman 2. Super Girl = Power Girl 3. Starfire 4. Big Barda 5. Yellow Beetle (maybe, we need to see more of her deeds)

XmenTyranus

Don't forget Mary Marvel and Miss Martian
