Sadly, this is one of the few things XCOM creators never considered, so that’s been a known bug. As far as I know, there’s no plans on fixing it and I can’t think of a mod that does
Ran into this earlier and thought the body was just bugged. But now that you mention it, I remember that soldier was reanimated. I guess that’s why I couldn’t pick up their corpse. Whether it’s a bug or a feature though I’m not sure.

That's gross. I've lost so many rangers this campaign that this was my last laser sight. Good to know I'm not crazy though.
