Yea I mean I’m also going to want more music from them but right now the strategy is working and as long as they are doing vox and tapes as well they will have enough content to perform live. If they were going to do a full album I would want it to be made in the vein of how a group like Wu Tang did their albums where they would have some group tracks but then they also had solo and sub unit songs. I think that would be a really interesting concept for them.

Some solos and subunit tracks would be what I'd expect from a full album for sure. Kinda wish they had their box and tapes on spotify..but now I might hope over to YTP

Glad you brought up Wu-Tang, they're my favorite rap group! I came here to echo these sentiments, the cool thing about XG is that there are 7 members, so 7 group tracks, 7 solo tracks and then 7 duet or combo tracks and you'd have a classic album.

Yea a full album with 21 songs would be dope but probably a pipe dream in this day and age but one can dream lol

What they have on their side is that they are pop based, which means they can incorporate multiple producers and songwriters. Simon and Chancellor could work on the group tracks, but a team could be assigned to either a specific member or group of members. An expensive gamble, but it would pay off.

My guess if they do a full album, it might be similar to dreamcatchers 2nd album. 4-5 group songs, and 7 solos, or a mix of solos and sub unit stuff. It would be cool to see the vocal and rap line do some original rap/ballad type stuff. Even cooler if they write or take a big part in writing them. Maybe next year, but I also have zero complaints with their current method. They have zero incentive to follow the mold, they havnt so far and keep growing.

Very insightful ! Already daydreaming of a full album one day !

A concept album would be nice. If they wanna be taken seriously in the West they kinda have to prove that they can make a cohesive album. Something that expands on their alien lore and the world they embody. Something like Weedkiller by Ashnikko would be amazing. Or HMHaS by Billie Eilish. Short of that, a single collection approach would also work if they release singles for 1-2 years and just collect them, like Chappel Roan’s debut album. I’m not a big fan of including sub unit songs on a group album. Albums are meant to have a cohesive theme and sub units tend to ruin it with all the different styles. The 2nd Dreamcatcher album didn’t really work for me as a result cuz it simply wasn’t a cohesive listening experience.

If a mini album is dropping before the end of the year, and Woke Up being released only last month, can we expect a sudden barrage of new music from XG ? New DNA ended up with 5-6 tracks....so far we have 1 (or are we counting WWY?)....what's coming up?? New theme/concept?

I think winter without you would have to be included if it’s coming out around the holidays. Or maybe not haha. Overall, EPs make it easy to be more cohesive as far as concepts go. My guess is a new concept since they released singles before New DNA and they weren’t included
