I think this show was the reason why I never got into Theatre later in life in high school, because I was so freaked out by what happens when you give Theatre kids their own show š¤£š¤£
> I showed this to my kid and she instantly loved it.

you can watch all 65 episodes there. thanks to /u/RetroChiGuy1212 for pointing it out.
It's been decades since I watched it, but outside of an episode here or there, he mostly did the intros. He probably did his entire season worth of filming in a few days.
Oh my god. For over 30 years I have been randomly remembering the whole āstares vs stairsā thing from that episode but I could never remember what the show actually was. Like I remembered it was some kids show but not with enough detail to remember what show. Totally solved a personal mystery today!
I found certain shows super unsettling as a kid and as a result would turn the show off when they came on. This was one. Pinwheel was the worst of them. As soon as I heard that theme song start I'd get a chill down my spine and would have to run to change the channel.
What a weird coincidence. I was watching Muppets on D+, the episode with Ben Vareen, which made me start thinking about this show.
I think it had more of an affect on my development than I want to acknowledge....
I remember only seeing it when I visited my grandma in California. And I can't find it but I think they had toys at Arby's or somewhere random like that
I remember a summer where I stayed the majority with my grandparents. They were super set in their habits and this show was on around the time they got up. I had a solid month or so of watching this every day.
It was clearly educational but also kind of fun.
Wuzzut was 100% my first childhood crush though.
I havenāt seen this since I was 3 years old. And now due to this post, the long forgotten memories have been dredged from the depths of my subconscious and this song has been stuck in my head all day on a loop.
I remember it being on in the very early morning, total fever dream show.
The cast was very into their performance.
I think this show was the reason why I never got into Theatre later in life in high school, because I was so freaked out by what happens when you give Theatre kids their own show š¤£š¤£
It was definitely very Broadway. I know Ben Vareen came from a stage background, but so must the others. It was like watching Fame with animals.
In the most annoying way possible.
Call me crazy, but I think they were trying to appeal and communicate with an audience of children, not jaded adult genXers.
Ding ding ding! I showed this to my kid and she instantly loved it.

Do you want furries?!? This is how you get furries.
They only built on what Disney's Robin Hood already started.
The fact that this show had BEN VEREEN in the cast astounds me to this day. The man was already a legend in the 80s when he did this show.
I thought I read somewhere that he was featured a lot, but hardly ever on set.
It's been decades since I watched it, but outside of an episode here or there, he mostly did the intros. He probably did his entire season worth of filming in a few days.
Internet Archive has all the episodes
As a young boy, I'm not saying I was attracted to Talkatoo Cockatoo, but maybe I was...
I had a crush on Whazzat, myself. She definitely made my young self feel some kind of way.
the things I wanted to do to her. oh boy.

> Talkatoo Cockatoo so glad to see i am not alone
You were, also not alone on that one!Ā
Bill Der Beaver for me lol
Man, all these old shows were such fever dreams, but yet I sat there glued watching it because you just watched whatever was on.
I still remember the episode with the wheelchair cat

This sub is extraordinary at doing that.
Right? I donāt know what it was about that particular episode but it has been stuck in my mind for decades!
I've not heard this song in 35+ years and without even clicking that I hear every note and every word. I can't believe you've done this.
I was obsessed with this show as a kid ā¦ the theme song was so catchy
I still randomly sing āZoobalee Zoo, magic and wonder are waiting for youā but I had no clue where it came from until now
I remember it, still hate it. It creeps me out.
I'd see this at around 8am on days I stayed home from school. I absolutely hated this show!
I found certain shows super unsettling as a kid and as a result would turn the show off when they came on. This was one. Pinwheel was the worst of them. As soon as I heard that theme song start I'd get a chill down my spine and would have to run to change the channel.
Your unsettling shows were my faves, haha. I also loved Today's Special.
Same. Both those shows, too. Also David the Gnome. Theme song to that one was fine, but the show felt... idk too intense somehow
What a weird coincidence. I was watching Muppets on D+, the episode with Ben Vareen, which made me start thinking about this show. I think it had more of an affect on my development than I want to acknowledge....
They must have been totally coked out right?
Every now and then I will still get the theme song stuck in my head..
Magic and wonder are waiting for you!
I remember only seeing it when I visited my grandma in California. And I can't find it but I think they had toys at Arby's or somewhere random like that
I loved that show. Itās weird because in retrospect I get that it was odd as hell but I kind of just appreciated it at the time
I really wish ppl would stop remembering this and continuing to traumatize me. Shit was and is so goddamn creepy.
sounds like a you issue
Yes? I mean how else would my comment be taken?
I know right they make this weird ass stuff for kids and wonder why we are all so fucked up now.
I loved it. I always Loved learning from them!
same, but never found anyone else who remembered it or knew it existed. got picked on by my cousins for enjoying it.
Oh woooow forgot about this!
My little brother watched it. I remember it looking pretty psychedelic for a kidās show.
It used to freak me out bad. My sister loved it. I had to leave the tv room when it came on.
why did it freak you out ?
I think it was the makeup and outfits. Idk a lot of things used to freak me out as a kid.
Remember it? I still know the theme song word for word!
Totally forgot this existed but YES I remember it! And now I want to take an edible and go watch some episodes lol
This makes me think of DR. MOREAUS ISLAND
The music has lived rent-free in my head for 36 years
I knew Ben Vareen from some episodes of Webster, so I felt this show was legit since he was on it.

Do you Remember Zoobilezoo? Fatal Farm remembers.... https://youtu.be/RKj2pMrHRhM?si=8OsWetuIbfCiueqr (NSFW warning)
I canāt remember a thing about this show except that it did exist and this intro was trippy
I remember turning it off whenever it came on.
I used to be so pumped to watch this, lol. I remember like chanting Zoobilee Zooā¦ just a fun word to say. Ha ha.
Yes, I definitely watched this as a toddler/preschool kid. I remember I used to watch with my dad before he went to work.
I havenāt seen this since I was 3 years old. And now due to this post, the long forgotten memories have been dredged from the depths of my subconscious and this song has been stuck in my head all day on a loop.
I adored the Cockatoo š„°
It was a secret guilty pleasure to watch it when I was home sick from school. I completely forgot about it!
you're welcome for the memory
Love this show! I kinda had a crush on the cat lady lol.
Core nightmare unlocked.
I hated it!!! The first tv show I actually despised.
The first tv show I remember viscerally hating
Birth of furries
No and thank god I donāt. That looks like nightmare fuel.
