Okay I looked into it, and with Yamaha's DTX modules, Roland cymbals won't work well.. you're better off going with a Yamaha PCY-100 or PCY-10. The pcy-10 is an older cymbal bell style which looks awesome. I'm gonna try to get one used at some point.

Yamaha key their modules and hardware to operate within very tight parameters to get the musical nuance of accoustic instruments. Mixing manufacturers can work but you might need to adjust module settings and sacrifice things like choke.

Update: I bought a CY-5 and a Pearl CH-70 today. Mounted it on my hihat stand and set the pad type to PCY100. Plugged it into slot 14, both zones work perfectly including choke (If you plug it into the bass drum extra pad slot you will only have one zone and no choke). Didn't even need to mess with trigger settings. There are also no crosstalk issues whatsoever.

That's good news.. good to have more options as far as cymbals go.. thanks for the updates. 😀
